Add photo and Publish a petition - what am I doing wrong? November 08, 2008 3:57 AM
When I click on the button to add a photo, I get and error and I can not browse and laod a photo. Also, when I click on the "publish" button, the petition does not publish. I can't seem to move from draft to publish stage. What am I doing wrong?

I also can not find the petition's "Dashboard" or the Signature Requirements page off of the petition's Dashboard, on My PetitionSite page. And some how I've managed to create two blank petitions that are "active" (does this mean published?) and I have no idea how they got there or became "active".
You should upload your photo to your Care2 photo album or a photo hosting site such as Photobucket first. I am assuming that are trying to upload from your hard drive.
These are the instructions from Care2 for the Dashboard: "The petitions you've created are listed on your My Petitionsite page, under the Petitions Authored heading.
Find the title of the petition you'd like to manage, then click the "[manage petition]" link to go to that petition's dashboard."
Please ensure that you have the latest version of Adobe Flash. I have seen at least one instance where a "button" was programed using Flash and was not visible without the latest upgrade.
I have an "extra" petition also. I don't know if it is intentional or if it is a bug. It doesn't seem to do anything; I'll ask Care2.
Thanx for the tips, however, there is no "[manage petition]" link . There is only a "Edit/Publish" button, which take me to another layout of the petition - this must be what you refer to as the "dashboard" - however it is not callled "Dahsboard" anywhere on the page. One this other layout, there is a "Photo" button, and a "Publish" butom, but neither of them work. I get an nothing when I click on them - it is like they are dead.
It must be a bug because every time I sign a petition, I "create" 5. I have signed 6 petitions and have 30 blank ones. I don't know how to remove them but I am reluctant to sign more until this is fixed.

I'm finding the same thing. I have signed two petitions in the past 24 hours and when I went back to check on my petition I saw that I had two more blank ones.
Please refer to this thread in this group in reference to "mystery" petitions.
For problems with your MyPetition site such as missing links to "Manage my petition", please submit a Help Request form, or "Help Ticket" to Care2. Often Care2 can repair it and also if several people report the same problem they will realize that there is a bug and assign a priority to the bug.
Try this link for the Help Ticket. If it doesn't work, let us know
Susan, I just used those same words "computer dummy" on my e-mail. I belong to a few causes and I want to post them on care2, dont know how. I have Vista so I know things work different, if I had time I would be able to figure it out,but I dont and I want to have someone show me the way..lol help!!
Finally got my petition published... January 23, 2009 2:52 PM
But I wasn't able to do it myself. I wrote to Care2 for help, describing my problems getting it published ( a dead link, me thinks ), and I DID get some help....in the form of the helper publishing it for me. Not telling me what was wrong/what I might be doing wrong/how to rectify the situation so that I may be able to publish my petitions in the future without help...
He simply published it for me, the end.
Okay. So, I truly am happy that it finally got published. But now, in trying to promote it I run into more problems. I chose to try to promote it first on my Care2 profile. What would make more sense, right?
Btw; I do have it promoted within a share from my profile, but I also wanted to put it right ON my profile. It didn't work. I tried every way I know how to make it happen...it didnt' happen. (slightly frustrated at this point..but moving on, I thought "okay, I'll just put it on one of my other websites..). So, I copied the code, and tried it on my SingSnap profile; to no avail.
Long story short; I think the coding needs some tweaking!
Is there anyone here within this group who can possibly give me some pointers?
Hello. A lot of petitions created on care2 are well-meaning, but are poorly written and have no legitimate target. These petitions are a waste of time, even though the cause may be a good one.
For example, I a few days ago I posted Sign Petition: Stop Horse Fights, which was noted 167 times and got 42 comments. The target is "Stop the practice of horse fighting", and several people commented that the petition was a waste of time without a proper target. I agree.
I would like to see care2 post a petition tutorial right on the start your petition page where everyone who wants to write a petition can find it. That way, care2 members will be more effective with their time in making the world a better place.
Problems with Deliver to Target Reports May 12, 2009 8:15 AM
I am not sure whom to contact.April 30 I contacted customer support about not being able to get reports via Deliver To Target. I received one reply on May 1st with a case number [care2.com #266465] and then nothing. A colleague of mine has the same problem with a petition for the Slavic Division at FSU.
We should have delivered these petitions days ago. Do you have any suggestions.
About a year ago I wrote to Care2 and suggested that petitions without specific targets were not petitions but were polls or something else. I suggested that they be removed. Care2 replied that they could develop into petitions so there would be no changes.
I would suggest that you give your request for the tutorial to Care2 via a Help Request form or post in Care2's Feedback and Suggestion Group.
Hi everyone! I just posted a petition today because this theme worries me a lot and I couldnt just stand by....., but I donnow what to d ofurther, when all the signatures will be done. Will it be send automatically or not ? Kindly Thank you for the answer
First you should promote your petition, anytime that you mention it you should put a link to it in your post - just a suggestion. Please feel free to start a new topic in this group and post your petition. I am sure that several other groups supporting petitions would be glad to have you also.
