My Expereiences as a Vegetarian July 03, 2008 12:42 AM
Hi Everyone.
I am a born Vegetarian - in our community we do not know what is Non Vegetarian food. In my younger days I have not seen an egg either. But when I joined the Air Force to become a Pilot there wasno difficulty to go through the rigers of Military training without any set back. I played all games, climbed high mountains, walked many miles in the thick jungles and flew in different types of Aircraft all over my country and in other countries too, and I participated in three major Wars . There was no problem at all.
In fact, in the field areas during actual hostilities it was dificult get Meat and Chicken or Fish. My collegues who were otherwise meat eatere were forced to be vegetarian for many days. They changed over to vegetarian food as they realized that they could remain fit and healthy withou Meat etc.
Whereas during my tenure in European Countries I had some difficulty. I survived on Milk, Bread, cheese and salad etc. After a few days I found that there were many vegetarian restaurants and self service counters that offered Total vegetarian food.
With my 70 plus years experience I can positively say that one can lead healthy, strong, happy and guilt free life.
If one looks at the ethical part of life - a Vegetarian is by habit and by nature a contributor to the general good of all that lives on this planet. A vegetarian naturally contributes towards reducing Global warming. A vegetarian by nature has compassion for all that lives on this planet.
