Buffalohair THE INVESTORS OF DEATH AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN BURMA March 18, 2008 12:58 PM

THE INVESTORS OF DEATH AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN BURMA

So yea want to do something for the suffering of Burma. Like I said, the most powerful tool we have is the all mighty dollar. This is only a small list but as you soon will see, it has many strange bedfellows. List provided by Burma: On line News and Analysis. It is absolutely disgusting to read their responses to their investing in the criminal government of Burma. And they should be tried for financing this military junta whence junta officials are finally arrested. The atrocities from Cambodia perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge finally came to justice. And the new Killing fields of Burma will also have this conclusion. The companies listed below will also stand trial for their financial support of death. And we the people of the Earth must remember who they are.

Daewoo International of South Korea

Along with gas exploration they also have numerous other enterprises. Take a long hard look at the shelves of any store. You will find TV's, Radio's, DVD Players, Cars and trucks. One strange bedfellow just happens to be General Motors. Fact is, Daewoo of South Korea is well entrenched with the Burmese Military Junta and have gleaned quite a handsome profit from this nation. And of course, they are invested in Burma's gas fields.

[These] are all long-time investments. They can’t be easily changed because of domestic issues. Politics is politics. Economics is economics.”

Chevron Texaco of the United States

Including Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem), GS Caltex and Mrs. Beasley cookie company. They are invested heavily in Burma's gas fields. With record breaking profits every quarter you'd think they would not be so greedy. Every drop of their oil and gas is nothing better than drops of human blood.

Our community development programs also help improve the lives of the people they touch and thereby communicate our values, including respect for human rights.”

Total of France

Like Chevron, they are heavily invested in Burmese gas. Their excuse is that they are convinced they will help the people of Burma. In all actuality, they are invested in death and wholesale murder of ethnic people. When will the lives of human beings take priority over capital gains? Surely the people of France will be appalled whence they know this reality.

We are convinced that through our presence we are helping to improve the daily lives of tens of thousands of people who benefit from our social and economic initiatives.”

Nippon Oil of Japan

Just like the rest of the greedy oil profit hungry companies. They are heavily invested in Burma's gas and inadvertently financing the killing machine of the criminal military government of Burma. Again, the people of Japan would be appalled by this statement from this company. It is not the people of these countries, it's the greedy people of these corporations who've placed profits over human rights.

We see the political situation and energy business as separate matters.”

PTT Public Company Ltd. of Thailand

They are invested in many ways with this military junta. Of course gas is a primary cause for their greed and total disregard for human suffering.

We have invested in Burma over the past decade. Despite the political conflict, the benefits from the projects will go to people of both countries.”

The Olympic Games in Beijing and all the corporations who participate in them.

This should be a no brainer since the very essence of these games is smeared with human blood from the onset, the blood of innocent Chinese people. 1.5 million human beings were displaced to accommodate this Olympic Blood Letting, some by force. Course even at this writing people are being arrested in China

"Good neighborly and friendly policy" toward Myanmar "serves the interest of the people in Myanmar and also in China,"

Let us not forget the textile companies from Japan who are planning to move to Burma to enjoy the slave labor. Let us learn the name brands they represent and the companies who buy their wares. Let the world know who sells their cloths and textiles. Know the names of the corporate leaders for they are no different than Kaing Guek Eav and his involvement in the Killing Fields of Cambodia. People of these nations and the world unite and seek out other investors in Burma for this list is only the tip of the ice berg.

Have a nice day.

Richard got a package a few weeks ago in the mail asking him to donate to the Olympics..They even sent 2 shiny stickers and a bumper sticker....Oh, and a note pad....After finding out what we now know about Burma...(because you sure don't find out on the main stream news...) we sent the package back...BUT..Do you realize just how hard it is to go shopping , and NOT buy something that was made in China..????..I was floored the last time I did go shopping...The dilemma now becomes..what happens to OUR SHOP keepers here in the U.S. ...if we stop buying ALL goods that are manufactured in China..AND what about the PEOPLE in China (NOT THE GOVERMENT )..who depend on their goods selling here in the U.S.????.. Like I said it's a Devils Dilemma....It's easy to stop buying from the Oil Companies...And big companies in general...but what about the little guy...??? ..I could see a lot of them going out of business...Maybe if OUR Goverment would step up to the plate and put a trade ban against China...but, I don't see that happening any time soon.....And that leaves people like us, not knowing what way to turn....We really want to do ALL we can to help..but sometimes we just don't know what that means..Whats the old saying..??? We feel like we are between a rock and a hard place......  [ send green star]

Personally to start with, I am mainly pin pointing the Big Companies that are in Burma its self. The oil/gas is the main one! They are the Big Bucks the Military is counting on to Fuel their killing machine.

I just pray the Spirit guides me as I read the labels of products to just know.

Yes, stopping a monster that kills
Or
Feeding it to kill more, even those that run the little business?

Short term Stop
 or
The Long term of murder the little voiceless people Forever

How guilty will we be now, that we know this information? Yes, this is hard!

Tribes and Nations of our own people know this one well. Live with it or fight it.  A wrong or a right.

Gads and they just want their stories heard, to be told and spread to the whole world! That was all they asked for ...........

We are asking one million people throughout the world to sign this petition to state they will not watch the Beijing Olympics on television unless China:

1) S
tops blocking a United Nations arms embargo on Burma and stops selling weapons to Burma's regime, and

2) Ends its support for Burma's regime.  If China does not change its policies, you will:

- Not watch the Beijing Olympics, especially the opening and closing ceremonies.
- Not purchase Olympics souvenirs and merchandise
- During the Olympics you will not purchase goods from Olympic corporate sponsors.

Chevron's Role in Burma

(EarthRights International)

Members of EarthRights International held a press conference yesterday (April 29) at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand to announce the release of ERI's new report, "The Human Cost of Energy: Chevron’s Continuing Role in Financing Oppression and Profiting From Human Rights Abuses in Military-Ruled Burma (Myanmar)". To see report click here http://m1e.net/c?72326914-9dZgYwJdfQSzA%403295604-W7zNKbiI23/f6

The Yadana Gas Pipeline Project represents the single largest foreign investment project in Burma and the single largest source of income for the Burmese military. Run by a consortium including Chevron, Thai company PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), Total (operator), and the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), the project does little to benefit the Burmese economy or its people. This is the first comprehensive report on conditions in the Yadana pipeline region since Chevron acquired Unocal’s interest in 2005, and documents the continued serious human rights violations by pipeline security forces.

Not surprisingly, Chevron has refused to acknowledge these offenses; Chevron spokesman, Kurt Glaubitz is quoted in the New York Times as saying that "the allegations of human rights abuses associated with the project are baseless, [Yadana] helps meet the energy needs of people in the region, supports critical health, education and infrastructure programs, and serves as a positive influence in the country."

Buffalohair: Burma’s Ploy Backfires Big Time

Than Shwe's Kangaroo Court systemThan Shwe’s Kangaroo Court System

In Part:

“If corporate and economic issues are to take precedents over humanity then it’s time for humanity to use economics in its battle for human rights, fight fire with fire”

The plight of Aung San Suu Kyi and the People of Burma is a microcosm of the plight of the people of the world in the face of corporate greed. The consumer dollar is the Achilles Tendon in the once invincible corporate body armor. Now the individual consumer is becoming aware of the power they truly have as average folks around the world rally support for Aung San Suu Kyi and the People of Burma. By withholding one dollar from any corporation who does business with Burma you pierce the armor of corporations fore without your money they are nothing. Everything comes full circle and the days of brow beating from corporations and lack luster politicians is coming to an end. In releasing Aung San Suu Kyi and the People of Burma we will break the stranglehold of corporate greed around the world as well fore we possess the ultimate weapon of corporate mass destruction, the all mighty dollar.

If you don’t buy, they will die.

Shareholder Power! Or the almighty Dollar Power!

So, I ask again, is there nothing you or I can do?

Yes, there is.

Find out if any of the Corporations in which you own shares does business with Burma. Let me know if you find this connection and, together, we’ll make sure the world knows about it. That will be start of a campaign to mobilize shareholders around the world.

If you feel strongly on this subject and support the strategy I’ve suggested and let’s see how many follow us. The Free Burma movement has adopted an old Ethiopian proverb which seems very appropriate: [This is an old site. Ann]
:

“When spiders unite they can tie down a lion!”

We could paraphrase this to our rallying cry:

“When shareholders unite they can depose dictators!”

Having read this, I hope the answer to the question I posed at the beginning is “yes”. Please discuss this with your friends, tell them about this, for dumping all these company shares you may own.

Use your Shareholder Power. You have it in your own hands to depose Dictators to

help free Burma

Thank you on behalf of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the courageous members of her party, the National League for Democracy, and the peoples of every ethnic group in Burma.

Global forces shape Orange County’s apparel industry.

Ron Jon Surfwear at The Block in Orange brims with thousands of pants, shorts and shirts, including a blue hooded sweatshirt with the logo of Irvine-based Gotcha stitched across the chest. Along with washing instructions, the label says: “Made in Myanmar.” Myanmar has one of the world’s most questionable human-rights records, but the drive to produce low-cost clothing has compelled some Orange County apparel makers to do business there and elsewhere overseas. “It becomes a numbers game,” said Steve Gould, who has helped arrange overseas manufacturing for such local firms as Gotcha, Quiksilver and Pacific Sunwear.

“People seem happy,” Gotcha surfwear Chairman Marvin Winkler said of the workers he has seen overseas. “They have their standards, and we have ours.”

So there it is. “People seem happy, They have their standards, and we have ours.” This must be the the ultimate in dismissive remarks by an industrialist who does not care what happens to folk as long as the bottom line of his business remains healthy.

Here is how it works with any Company that is giving to Junta or making Blood Money in Burma. See how it is done?

See how it is done?
sample of WHERE TO BUY YOUR USA-GAS

WHERE TO BUY YOUR USA-GAS, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. READ ON–

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil
.

BOY COT These COMPANIES And Watch Gas Prices Fall/ONT>

These companies import Middle Eastern oil :

Shell……………………… 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco……… 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil…………… 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway… 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco……………………….62,231,000 barrels

Citgo…….from South America , from a Dictator who hates Americans
If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (oil is now over $90 a barrel and heading to $100.00/)

Here are some large companies that
do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco…………….0 barrels
Conoco…………….0 barrels
Sinclair……………..0 barrels
BP
/ Phillips………0 barrels
Hess…………………0 barrels
ARC0………………..0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importig.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers. It’s really simple to do.

Now, don’t wimp out at this point…. keep reading and I’ll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I’m sending this note to about thirty people .
If each of you s end it to at least ten more
(30 x 10 = 300)… and

those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) . and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people,

we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers !!!!!!!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it …. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. How long would all that take?

If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next eight days !

KNU Headquarters Overrun: Now What? After a long offensive, the Burmese army and its ceasefire militia, the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), has overrun the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 7 headquarters.

The question now is: What’s next?

Karen sources and analysts said the fighting will continue as the joint Burmese army and DKBA troops focus their attacks toward the KNLA Brigade 6 area.

Analysts said powerful business interests are supporting the offensive. (Graphic:
The Irrawaddy)
The Burmese regime’s goal is to control all of central Karen State, where the Karen National Union’s KNLA Brigade 7 and 6 are now located, in order to dominate the business and border trade activity with Thailand, said one DKBA businessman who asked for anonymity. Once dominated, many industries, companies and infrastructure will be improved and supported by the Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, said the businessman. Important activities will include logging and mining natural resources, including zinc, he said.

He said the Burmese authorities and DKBA troops will construct roads to connect between army headquarters in Myaing Gyi Ngu and border areas.

Once the clashes end, the relationship between the DKBA and local Thai authorities and businessmen in Mae Sot will expand when compared to the past, businessmen said.

During the recent fighting, a KNU leader said two DKBA leaders were spotted in a car traveling with Thai police near the border where Karen refugees have sought shelter in Tha Song Yang District in Tak Province.

Analysts also said the situation will be more dangerous for the KNU and Burmese opposition groups in exile when the border area is controlled by DKBA troops.

Maj Hla Ngwe, the joint secretary (1) of the KNU, said the loss of KNLA Brigade 7 headquarters could affect the work of Burmese opposition organizations based in Mae Sot.

“The opposition movement will be limited. They might not launch campaigns as they did before,” said Hla Ngwe.

Border sources also say more assassinations could be expected in the border area, where many Burmese and ethnic opposition groups are based.

In February 2008, the KNU’s late general secretary, Mahn Sha, was gun down by two DKBA members at his home near the center of Mae Sot. Many sources claimed the assassination also involved Thai border police.

Border sources said that DKBA members will have easy access to Mae Sot once the relationship between the DKBA and Thai border authorities is established.

A sign of the evolving transition in the power center, said the businessman, is that DKBA soldiers are now receiving medical care in Mae Sot.  What’s happening is “very obvious,” he said.

The DKBA plans to expand its troops from 6,000 to 9,000 in preparation for its transformation to become a border guard force under the Burmese army. The  DKBA split from it mother organization, the KNU, and signed a ceasefire agreement with the Burmese regime in 1995.
