Welcome To This Hip Abode Of Vision And Peace October 18, 2004 11:01 PM

OM! Greetings Folks! This is a Cruelty~Free Haven of Kind Sharing. Seeking Solutions to Planet of Cruelty~Filled dangerous humans. Lets hang together... remember the 1960's visionary ideals... talk about organic vegan sustainable lifestyle. Living in Yurts..Baked Clay Cottages.. Thatched Huts.. Geodesic Domes ..on the Beach.. in the Forests.. Stone Homes.. Caves.. VW Bus etc. How we are living now, and how we would like to live. Share our stories. Share a Doobie. Maybe we will make some best buddies here, that live in our area that we can meet in person, bond with in deep and Goode Friendship. This I would certainly LOVE. Times are rough right now. The insane america is almost unbearable, dangerous and deeping hurtful... shocking. Would love to talk with you no matter where on Mother Earth you live. I would really like to help create a real organic vegan Rainbow Family here in my area... real people. I am also into Hinduism and a devotee of Shiva and the ancient Hindu sacred texts. Maybe we could really incorporate all this together. Looking for like~hearted buddies! I live in Carmichael, Sacramento County, California USA Come on in and ... post! Would love to meet you! Save Mother Earth And All Her Precious Creatures! Peace N Love! Shivani  [ send green star]

Hi Shivani October 19, 2004 4:28 AM

I'm not entirely sure I will fit in here but heres a little about me. Well, I also believe that returning to natures loop is the way of all true healing and health. I love all animals and regard them as innocent victims of the human condition. I pretty much believe that ALL "religion" is artificial and contrived and that the only path of light is the path of love, all else is toxic and can only bring harm. I suppose I am very idealistic but exceedingly unreligious. I am 99% organic vegan. I have been known to compromise from time to time as long as it doesn't involve the death or suffering of another living creature (okay, other than myself.) I like to laugh and PARTY! I don't subscribe to any particular spiritual discipline, I just take what I can use from wherever and leave the rest. I enjoy the teachings of a number of great spiritual seekers but do not really agree with any of them 100%. I prefer to use my own grey cells in such deep personal matters. I am definitely not a hippie per se, although I may share a number of their ideals. I don't think I quite fit that mold. Well anyway, thats where I live. I'll be watching the group, it sounds interesting. Peace.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Our Own Town October 19, 2004 4:38 AM

Well, since I`m constantly refining my idea of sustainable living...here is my latest: Geodesic Domes (starting at $10,000) self built, (but not limited to those structures) in our own TOWN. When I tried to envision a sustainable community I kept getting invasive visions from local government. So the only way around that is to buy our own small town and create our own government, industry, etc. If movie stars and music artists can buy towns for fun, we can too. Anyone care to help in researching this avenue as to cost, legalities, etc?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Toni K ! October 19, 2004 12:52 PM

Toni my Friend... of course you fit in here! You are one great guy! I very much understand how you feel about all organized religions. No lables are necessary, at all. Living Radiant Nature is spiritual ecstacy in itself! So is our True Self. Bear with me if I sometimes speak of 'hinduism' things or Shiva or similar things. We are a rainbow of beings here... but we all do have many things in common... organic living and Saving Mother Earth and ALL Her Precious Creatures. Animal Rights. Human Rights. Anti War. Of Course you fit in here Tony, my brother! ~ Hugs! ~ PEACE N LOVE ! Shivani  [ send green star]

Donna F. ~ Our Home Town! October 19, 2004 1:15 PM

Hi Donna my sister! This sounds like a very intriging and wonderful idea! Aquiring our own Home Town and living sustainably and organically thereon in Geodesic Domes! Some movements do indeed have there own home town... like the infamous followers of Rajneesh did. They also had organic health food stores. Quaint organic vegan restaurants etc. Well, their town is no more, because of their leader's unfortunate exploits and personal mistakes, and the media's interest in scandalizing the community and their town. But... times are in a need of a changing ... and we can mobilize to to our part! We must! Donna and everyone, check out this awesome website on living in cool Yurts! Looking forward to your ideas! http://Yurt.Com PEACE N LOVE! Shivani  [ send green star]

I just got a new job (a major accomplishment around this part of the country) so I'm not on Care2 as much as I would like, but I wanted to at least introduce myself My husband and I are both 29, we have 2 sons--one 9 year old and one 19 month old In the past few years we have discovered how unhappy we had become, living in such a materialistic world and way. We have been struggling to simplify our lives as much as we can--but in steps we can handle, rather than all at once. We are all vegetarian, but only our toddler and I are vegan (although there are times we aren't able to be too strict about eggs (long story), but we do our best to buy from friends) We parent from our hearts--recognzing that our children are young people, not a substandard class. Having said that, we are far far far from perfect. I tend to be terribly moody and my husband finds himself constantly struggling against the model of parenting he grew up with. But we try. And we admit when we are wrong. And we try to better next time. We homeschooled our oldest up until this year, when he wanted to go to school to meet more of the local kids. I'm hoping we'll be back to homeschooling before too long!! Our dream is to build a yurt...we've gone as far as to find an engineer that would sign off on the plans and start talking to the local building inspector. Plans are on hold now for financial reasons, but it is still our dream for the near future. I'm very much into philosophy--particularly metaphysics and logic. I love science fiction and fantasy--currently my two favorite authors are Orson Scott Card and Borges. I really enjoy gardening, but didn't get to take very good care of ours this year--I forgot what it was like to try to do things with a toddler! And, I really love to cook--again something I don't have nearly enough time or energy for these days. Most of our meals these past few weeks seem to have come out of the pressure cooker or the pasta bins...nothing too exciting there, but its all good I'm off to try to catch some zzzzzzzzzz's I hope you are all having a wonderful night or day and get a chance to enjoy the weekend! *hugs*  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hi and helloooooooo October 31, 2004 12:09 AM

First off, happy belated birthday to Shivani! Hope all your days are full of love! Okay, about me. I'm Tricia, just stumbling through life in MN. Ovo-lacto vegatarian (get milk and eggs directly from a neighbor's farm, not the store), spend as much time as possible outside in nature, and the most important thing in my life right now is going to school to be a vet tech. Animals needlessly suffer at the hands of humans, and I desperately want to help as many animals as possible. Hope to eventually become a wildlife rehabilatator or have my own wildlife sanctuary. I also draw, write and take pictures. On another topic, a group of friends want to buy a house in the woods at the end of a long driveway, live together and share everything, grow our own food, etc. Anyone have any experience in a modern day commune? I would love to hear about it, the good and the bad. Hey hey if anyone is in the Minneapolis/St Paul area, send me a note! Peace, love and compassion to you all  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Present day community November 07, 2004 3:04 PM

Hey Tricia, I know a little bit about the modern day commune. I've been living at one for the last 15 years. The worst things to be aware of is people with expectations. These people are miserable people to be around. Another problem is learning to let other people go through the same life lessons over & over & over. Some people seem incapable of learning. Another problem is learning to be carefull about how much we do for other people so that we don't do so much that somebody has to do something for us in return. Living with a bunch of people allows me to live on the land w/o having to do it alone. http://www.freewebs.com/stonethegardener/ (my website) I have tons of community info on my links page.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

 November 11, 2004 1:28 AM

Oh how sweet to find this group! I have been very discouraged since the election, but there is still so much love and light to share in these strange times. I have only been to a Rainbow Gathering once, but I've always been a Rainbow at heart. Living in deeply conservative part of Southern California, but doing what I can - 6 cats and a dog from animal shelters/rescue, organic vegetable garden and native plants, praying for healing of the mother Earth. Shivani, thank you for doing this! Hope to share more thoughts and dreams with all of you. Om Nama Shivaya - Peace and Love, Torrey  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

~*~*~*~ Stone ! It is quite a Wonderful accomplishment, and gives great Hope to us All that you have sucessfully lived in a communal~commune setting for 15 years! I would love to live such a mutual lifestyle. For me, it would have to be based on an agreed upon Vison and like~hearted Ideals though. First... I could only live in an Organic Vegan Commune. Shared Ideals and Shared Vision is very important to me... then the other 'rough spots' can be bared with and overcome with patience and true friendship. :~) Please share with us your commune stories and experiences and more tips !!! :~D ~*~*~*~ ~*~ PEACE N LOVE! ~*~ ~*~ Shivani ~*~  [ send green star]

you asked for it, (addtional thoughts on living in community) November 14, 2004 8:50 AM

It's been my experience that living in community is like the story about the 2 men in a 1 room cabin up in the north woods who barely say 2 words to each other all winter. You gotta learn to leave each other alone, or you'll drive each other nuts. I know, this seems counter-intuitive. This isn't why we choose to live in community. Thing is, no matter how much similarity there is in shared beliefs, goals, there's always gonna be that area where we're all different people with different needs, drives, and what-have-you. We all have our own hidden agenda (stuff we don't even know about!) None of us are gonna acknowledge the outrageousness of some of our assumptions until we're ready. Living in community means making allowances for others eccentricities. Of course, your experience may differ. Hope this helps, Stone  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

~*~*~ Stone my friend... your sharing of your real~life living in community~commune tips are of tremendous benefit! It is very thoughful of you! :~) I chuckled when you mentioned 2 men living in a cabin in the north woods and barely saying two words to each other! :~D I have a feeling that it would be quite different with two women! ;~D Even though we ALL need plenty of private time to blossom from within, meditate, create, and find our center of peace... and often we can also do this 'together' but we must Always be sensitive and intuitive to other's moods, needs and requirements at all times. I know I am very eccentric to the pre~programmed brainwashed minds of the norm of society. Eccentricity is a marvelous trait... as long as it is also considerate of others in the commune too. When we are feeling 'down' about ourselves... just about any innocent thing will seem to drive us Nuts... thus is actually our own inner frustrations with Ourself and our emotions striking out. And yes... sometimes others around us are truly being inconsiderate and imposing. We ALL need quality time alone with ourselves reflecting and in Nature. We Must Be Intuitive About Each Other's Boundries And Changing Moods And Needs! We Must Truly LOVE One Another! :~D Thank You for sharing yourself with us Stone! I am looking forward to hearing much more of the gems you have to share! {{{{{{ Hugs! }}}}}} ~*~*~ {I urge everyone else to join in and 'pass the talking stick'!} ~*~ PEACE N LOVE! ~*~ ~*~ Shivani ~*~  [ send green star]

Far away and dreaming November 20, 2004 6:43 AM

I was living in a house i called home in a small town in eastern Canada. Old victorian style with three floors all made into separate appartments. Myself and two friends rented the entire thing and lived in the middle. The doors were never locked and there was always food in the fridge, blankets on the couch, a guitar in the corner and a doobie on the rise. 62 George St. soon became known by all as a place to go and chill and stay for as long as you like, whenever. Regular vegan potlucks, random bands passing through looking to crash, sometimes just me and the fireplace watching flame shadows on the red walls. It was home to everyone who came. About a month ago i hopped on a plane and came to Germany. I am living here as an Au Pair, I take care of three small boys (happy to say they are very beautiful people and all veg.). Last week i got word that the bank reposessed 62 George St. from the owner. In 90 days 62 will be torn down to make way for a new appartment complex with four floors, white walls, and a balcony for each. It makes me sad...or it did for a little while, until i realized it is not the house that was home it was the family inside...my family has now moved four houses up the street to 54 George, the house is green, i can't wait to see it. This place is home too, and what a beautiful family live here. Unlock doors and let people in... Share... Love chael  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hello All November 26, 2004 3:57 PM

Greetings, My birth name is Zora (meaning Goddess of the dawn, thanks mum!) Joy, a name that now feels very right, My mother dreamt of me before I was conceived and now I have found my way here.

At six weeks old I was blessed at Stonehenge by the peace convoy, Many children put on the stones as the drums pronounced us embraced by mother earth.

My childhood 0-10 was spent living in the little town of Glastonbury (Avalon) mostly, travelling to the colourful festivals all summer in our big yellow teddy bear truck and visiting often (Living occassionally) in Tipi Valley where my father still lives now and has done for 30 years.

.  Tipi Valley is where I feel my true home is, yet not a place I want to live all year round. Here a small group of people put some money together some 30 years ago and bought 100 acres of land, to begin a community wishing to have as little impact on the earth as possible, wishing to be free from the constraint society often offers. To bring their children into a better world. It is a beautiful place to behold, if you believe in faeries, they definitely live there! at one time there was about 150 families living here and we were all brothers and sisters, and still we are.  Today the children now my age, some have left, like me, to be around action, and some are still there, they have built eco houses, which our parents very much appreciate when they have had enough of the wind and rain and damp of south west wales (UK), well they can have a nice hot bath! and go back to their tipi, yurt, african hut, showmans wagon, bender or bus, feeling refreshed and able to take on the elements again as they collect their water and wood and reeds for the tipi's, its a full time job living in a tipi.

I left home at 14 (many reasons) and chose a different way, trained in theatre, lived in canada for a year, came back to England at 23 totally lost, no real close blood relations (I love my father but feel more like the mother).

But many many beautiful people have encouraged me, loved me, from ALL walks of life, I think this is what has inspired me the most, people say I may be a little quirky at first, my life and experience is not as many have had, but somehow I have rarely felt judged, I say this as I know many that have been, I think my upbringing gave me the capacity to adapt yet still be ME.

Now I live with my beautiful son who is 3, I find motherhood confusing, beautiful and right.

I am a postgraduate in arts and cultural management, entertainments coordinator and company director for the big green gathering, I am humbled by the place I have found and the love that is offered and that I am able to give, Thankyou for hearing me, thankyou for your group Shivani.

'Experience is not what happens to us, but what we do with what happens to us'

Much Love

~*~ Zora... WELCOME... my Beautiful Sister ! ~*~ November 28, 2004 1:14 PM

Zora... Beautiful Sister! You are enfolded in Kind and Loving Hearts here! Your Heart Beams Love and Kindness Zora. Your life's story is fascinating and positively unique compared to most. Living in Tipi's in a community of visionary person's, enveloped in beautiful landscapes and freedom! And, you are so gentle, creative and artistic! I too have no biological family. Being an orphan in this world has poignant sufferings, absence of nurturing, aloneness, and it's blessings too. I am devoted to the Creatures, Mommie Earth, the mystical, and seeking ultimate spiritual illumination in Oneness... and I have a child~like nature. Adult seems to equal to me: A~Dolt! I do not see myself incarnated upon Mother Earth in this lifetime all that much longer. It seems so futile and this not having yet been able create a Loving True Kind Green Family Of Wisdom And Peace is leaving me with not much hope. I have no interest in being in this world of human corruption, violence, toxic pollution, greedy debauchery and insanity. So far... I have stayed for my Beloved Precious Loving Cats. My heart bleeds for ALL Creatures and Mother Earth. I have no patience with humans who *say* they Love Animals, then eat them... not sensitive to the horrors, unbearable fear and murderous slaughter the Animals~Birds~Fish~Creatures endure because of the mindless zombie choices and lack of conscience and blind selfish cruelty of humans. Days such as thanksgiving, christmas, easter reveal just how *loving* of their sister and brother Precious Creatures they are! ;~) They show up at relatives houses and gnaw away at the flesh and bones and fluids of those Precious Creatures {who are much better and more spiritually evolved than humans} that they claim to 'love'! These humans are the cannibal living dead zombies of the brainwashed mainstream clones, they cannot adhere to any Ideals that they claim to have. And, they are revealed openly. Nothing is worse than this! Nothing!!! If anyone is interested in forming with me an Organic Vegan RAiNBoW Heart Ashrama which also embodies Hinduism's Ahimsa Towards ALL Creatures~Mother Earth... I would LOVE to hear about it! For those interested there would be classes in the sacred metaphysics of ancient Hinduism, meditation, the Gods~Goddesses~Devas and puja rituals etc. Forming Deep Kind Trustworthy Nurturing Friendships! Also Teaching! Speaking Out! Activism! Zora... my gentle Sister, please bear with my deeply heartfelt 'rant'. I reveal to you that which is held most dear to me... it is my Life. I am looking for person's totally dedicated to the Wisdom Cruelty~Free Organic Vegan Ahimsa RAiNBoW Heart, not bloody murderous tastes or lifestyle. Reincarnation and Karma insures that humans will suffer the same fate as that which we cause to happen, or our perverted enjoying the bloody fruits of what was done to other beloved Creatures. WELCOME ZORA! {{{HUGS!}}} ~*~ PEACE N LOVE! ~*~ ~*~ Shivani ~*~  [ send green star]

hi shivani December 04, 2004 11:10 AM

hi group...

i find this group very interesting.....  I too love nature a lot.... God has made it very creative.... It can change its colors, size and shape on its own at ne particular given time... it can be as peaceful as God can be and it can as voilent as His wrath can be....  Here Shivani u said very beautiful things about Hinduism... I too am a Hindu ....a year back i  never knew what Hinduism means eventhough it was embibed in me by the values thought by my parents... the only thing i knew was to be kind to everyone and help the needy who comes in ur way as He is the God in disguise.......  now when i learn more about my relegion I find my culture so rich, pure and so very ancient... its good when u know that there was no founder of Hinduism...no messiah, no prophet or guru..... It was based on truth, love and respect to nature and all beings on earth.. isnt that the reason we worship nature like fire, wind, water, trees...  In OM we exist.... OM itself is the means OM itself is the end... OM is the existence of every being on earth....

OM Shanti...

Thought u might find this site interesting... so posted it

Zora! So good to see you here! Another "bohemian celebration" place for us all. And warm greetings to all the other new people!

Shivani, beautiful light-shining sister, I know its hard for us now, with what we see going on in the world. But this world needs US to be here, more than ever - to show the ways of nonviolence, compassion, and kindness for all life. My cats are dear to me too, by the way - though I fear they are NOT vegetarians LOL! But they are each very loving in their way, and teachers to me. Anyways, just wanted to send a hug and some encouragement your way. There's some words from a song I like to remember - "the blues ain't nothin' but a dream". Though the maya of this life can get us down, the light and love of the eternal oneness-spirit-truth is what we ARE. You help me to remember, Shivani - thank you again for being here!

~*~ Rajesh!~Torrey!~Antaine!~Ivey! ~*~ December 19, 2004 2:15 PM

~*~ Namaste Rajesh! Hinduism ~Sanatana Dharma~ Is Resplendent With Wisdom and Bliss and intense Devoted Spiritual Practices! Vegan Ahimsa Hinduism is the ONE to embody! I read that link you gave. It was 'ok' but it is a academic type dictonary definition with errors. Hinduism is much deeper and complex. Also Kshatriya's are indeed the military caste and if one is a killer then they might also be the type to kill and eat Precious Holy Animals. But this is NOT a good thing! If a Kshatriya seeks to be a Hindu seeking any Spiritual Enlightenment, he also HAS to embody Ahimsa~ never eat nor harm nor exploit Any Creature~Being! That link's statement is very wrong. The writer is not Vegan~Vegetarian. Yes..ALL IS OM! ~*~ Namaste Torrey! Happy to see you, you elusive one you! Yes. This is the Kali Yuga and some Precious Animals have had their biological food needs affected by Kali Yuga. In the Satya Yuga, Gods and Devas were seen by ALL ~ ALL Creatures~Beings never ate flesh nor ever harmed nor exploited each other. ALL were Vegan. The human species karma created the three other lower vibrational Yugas. Kali Yuga is the most corrupt and dark of the 4 Yugas. ALL Precious Animals~Creatures are Absolutely INNOCENT! In the Satya Yuga ALL Beings existed mostly on the rich atmospheric nutients in the air and sunlight and light raw ambrosial nectars. All bodies never had to 'go to the bathroom' for all traces of nourishment were completely used in the sattvic solar fire of the body. No Creature~Being experienced any disease or bodily troubles of any kind. The bodies were very light and of a rarified quick vibration and radiant. ALL had divine powers. ALL Creatures were pure and illumined with the highest Wisdom and the highest direct spiritual experiences. Creatures~Animals still retain most of their telepathic divine spiritual clairvoyant blessing healing intuitive divine love. Scores of Animals and Creatures are completely Vegan even here in the Kali Yuga. Some Animals such as the Precious Cat's biological needs in the Kali Yuga require that they get their 'taurine' naturally from meat. Cats are Innocent! Cats are mirroring some of the Kali Yuga human made karma in their biology. Humans did this to them... by creating the lesser Yugas, this current Kali Yuga being the most corrupt and dark Yuga filled with human created evils and karmas. The Innocent Ones suffer because of it. We who Know must embody the Satya Yuga! ~*~ Antaine my friend, I hope that your time here is Illuminating! WELCOME! ~*~ Ivey Beautiful Sister! How Wonderful it is that you have come! I too am of Celtic race with some Swedish too! My path is Hinduism. I Love ALL the Hindu Deities~Devas... and am especially devoted to Shiva Mahadeva. Shiva is not a 'destroyer god'! Shiva dispells our delusions and our karmic obstacles to Spiritual Illumination! ALL IS Shiva's Dance and Being! *~ Shivani ~*  [ send green star]

problems in paradise February 14, 2005 6:36 AM

It's been a long time since anybody's posted. I might as well tell everybody that all is not well in paradise. The property owner's son has decided that he now runs the place and the contract that we have all lived under for 15 years is no more.
He's telling everybody to pay 3 times as much money each month or get out. I've allready recieved notice.
I've posted his notice at my message board along with my response. I will be posting some of the earlier corespondence between him and me as well.
I would totally appreciate people going to the yonderfamily forum and asking questions about why he would want to destroy the community, & why there's no discussion going on in the forum. You can get there from my links page. Here's the link to my site.

Your gardening is fantastic and the happy visiting Butterflies of such Beauty {Butterflies are so endangered by human poisons and toxins. I don't see them anymore }. You are a Wizard with creating websites! That little brat who is flitting around arrogantly spouting off and threatening you, and claiming that he will evict you from the YonderLand Community if you do not pay him 'extortion dues' is digging his own pit that he will bury himself in! This pathetic person actually dug a shi.tter in the Source of the YonderLand Community water supply! He demands that you give him much money or he will kick you out of the Community... when YOU are the one who saved the Community and made it florish and you have planted, nurtured, and grown such AWESOME Organic Gardens, Exotic Flowers and Flowery Havens for Butterflies everywhere on the Community Lands. You have built unique sustainable homes on the Community Land and made it exquisitely Beautiful! You are a Master of Organic Gardening and great Compost! You have nurtured and poured your talents and heart out upon that Community for over 15 years! That bratty twit has the gall to demand that you pay him a ransome amount of additional money or you will be evicted! How did he come on the scene as believing he has authority to be so stupid! He is Jealous of you Stone! I clicked on the link to your 'Stone The Gardener' website on your previous post here, and I greatly enjoyed your beautiful pictures of the Gardens you created for the Community and the Butterflies! Then I went to you Message Board on your website and read the thread on 'YonderLand Community' and that guys appalling gall to have written to you such threatening letters ~ that he is planning to evict you for no reason other than that the guy has a demented brain. Hey Stone! February 16, 2005 1:33 PM

I'm right there with Shivani.  Make this younger brother "see the light" so to speak.  Are there any other elders he will listen to and respect?

It sounds like you have put much love, effort, and years into creating your home there.  Best wishes that little brother doesn't destroy all the community has worked for.  Maybe there is a way of sitting down calmly and trying to discover what his vision is.

My name is Vanessa (friends call me Nessa), I'm 20, and I'm from Austin, Texas (remember, Texas is where Bush is from but Austin is home to the Dixie Chicks). I've been vegetarian for 5 years (though I'll admit they're not all consecutive) and vegan for a little over 6 months. I am a Buddhist, and I have great fascination and admiration for Tibet. The Tibetan people are very peace-loving and compassionate, their culture is so beautiful and colorful, and the Tibetan plateau is a beautiful wilderness- home to snow leopards and blue sheep and Tibetan antelopes. Needless to say, the Tibetan cause is very near and dear to my heart.
