Medicare Drug Pay October 24, 2005 4:26 AM

Does any senior out there understand the new Medicare Drug Payments? I cannot be sure that it is of any benefit since my income is so low that I receive most of my meds from the companies and if were to sign up with the medicare pay would lose this company patient assistance, that is the way I understand it, which if true would leave me without meds as it would cost more than I could afford! Am I understanding this right? Is anyone else out there as confused as myself?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
Low Income Seniors October 24, 2005 7:34 AM

The federal government has no idea what a "low income" is or how hard it is to live on a fixed "low income". Nor do they care. You are right, if someone is in the low income catagory, the medi-care option does not really help. Stick with the one that saves you the most money. I get my meds from the V.A.- There is no way that I would go to the medi-care plan. Be Blessed!- Lee  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I also depend on my meds from the drug companies and I am scared I will lose this form of help if I sign up for the medicare. I also believe from what I am understanding is if you don:t sign up yourself by january,2006 that they will automatically sign you up for one of their plans. Does anyone know any different  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

The Government! December 09, 2005 5:55 AM

It is just another problem associated with the Mess that the Medicare system is in. We are all having problems with getting the drugs we need and it is only going to get worse as the 'Baby-Boomers' start to make their needs known. You are going on the right course. Keep after them. I, myself, have a disability from the VA. The meds are taken care of, however, my wife is still in a pickle over the Medicare business. We have taken to 'natural cures' as well as still working to get the Medicare problems straightened out. Be blessed this Christmas!- Lee  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
Medicare Drug Pay December 09, 2005 6:01 AM

We are not getting treated right!!! If you call 1-800-633-4227 or 1-800-772-1213 you can have a form mailed to you for extra help. From what I was told this extra help, if you qualify, will pay most of the drug costs and in some cases all of it. Be prepared to wait and to keep hitting the numbers they tell you but hopefully in the end it will be worth it to you all. As usual we are getting the short end of the stick because we are no longer what the Government considers contributing members of society, like we do not still buy things or we did not work all these years as contributing members. Makes me so mad I want to throtle "them"!!!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
