I want to start back in 1964 when my brothers and a neighbor were watching The Ed Sullivan Show. It's an old story but I remember it well. We were standing in the living room watching the Beatles. We had the songs memorized, but now we could see them. The anticipation had been going on for weeks. My neighbor was over because they did not have a TV. His dad didn't know, because if he did he would have come unglued. We had the broom & the mop and some sticks and we were imitating the boys on TV. It is one of my most vivid memories. Then near the end of the show my dad came home. He stood in the doorway for a moment, then he shook his head an told us to turn it down. I won't put "She Loves You" on this thread because you've all heard it before.
My next memory is my dad yelling up the stairs that he was going to come up and break the first record I ever bought if I didn't turn it down. The song was "Hanky Panky" by Tommy James and the Shondells. I don't know why that was my favorite song, it just was.
In 1967 and I gave my girlfriend a copy of "Meet the Monkeys" for a christmas present. So this will be my first post.
"Daydream Believer" by the Monkeys
This song makes me think of her and takes me back to 1967.
Here's one from 1969. I'm sure you have all heard of Fleetwood Mac, but did you know that they existed before Stevie Nicks joined the band? She joined in 1976, but they were one of my favorite bands since the late 60's
"ALBATROSS"- FLEETWOOD MAC 1969
They rocked a lot more than this, but this is so soothing. I often play this when ever I get depressed or can't sleep.
THIS WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE PROTEST MOVEMENT.
I got married in 69. I was 18. I moved to Madison Wi. so I could be in the middle of the action. Protesting everyday, parties every night, pot, coke , LSD an more. All this with a wife and child in tow. I didn't work I hustled to get by. I didn't cut my hair from late 69 til mid 75. Hippie all the way.
HERE IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME TOP TEN
STRANGLEHOLD- TED NUGENT
PLAY THIS ONE FOR YOUR TEENAGERS, I DID!
"PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS"- MEATLOAF
THIS ONE IS VERY OLD, BUT IT ROCKS.
"HELLBOUND TRAIN"- SAVOY BROWN
THIS ONE IS ON EVERYONES LIST, I HOPE?
"IMAGINE"- JOHN LENNON
This is the first song I listened to the first time I looked through the "Window Pane" if you know what I mean.
"White Bird" by "It's a beautiful day
That same night I heard this song a whole different way
