Consider joining the DUO Sponsor-a-Child Chain. Although new at this responsibility, it has already brought me much joy. I have received letters and photos from them--photos showing pictures of the food and clothes they received. See them in my photo albums. Here are my precious children; I hope to make a difference in their lives.

Consider joining the DUO Sponsor-a-Child Chain. Being new at this responsibility, I have no idea how well it will work. However, the anticipation has already brought me joy. I eagerly await letters from my three children, which should be arriving soon. So far I am aware of three other DUO members who sponsored children. Here are my precious children; I hope to make a difference in their lives.

I choose my children through a non profit organisation. It was started by a husband and wife. The husband came from the country where those kids were in need, they came along a lady that took the responsibility to take care of the orphans while she herself did not have much to live on.The couple decided to start a charity fund and for a small fee you could adopt a kid and at the same time help the other kids.So I find it very admirable that someone can start a charity not wanting to make any profits, that's why I still support them!
Thanks Ariel and Winefred! I did some research to make certain I would feel comfortable sponsoring a child under one of the many charities. Different charities have their special areas of the world where they operate. The American Institute of Philanthropy lists their 10 top-rated charities for sponsoring a child. http://www.charitywatch.org/toprated.html#childsp . But there are other great charities not on the list.
Children International is the charity that fate brought to my attention. They have been helping children since 1936 and last year provide support for 322,000 children and their families. The organization is approved by the Better Business Bureau because it meets all 20 Standards for Charity Accountability and is a Seal Holder. http://www.bbb.org/charity-reviews/national/child-sponsorship/children-international-in-kansas-city-mo-1815
Consumers Digest magazine named it as one of “America’s Top Charities!” for 2006. I selected this charity for a few other reasons.
How did you choose your children?
I also do sponsor kids I have two and through sponsoring them I also help the other kids that in care. They don't have any parents so I always wanted to do this and it came to me as a gift. And I'm not one bit sorry, for the child I helped I'm proud to say she has made it she's now studying and doing fine and I'll continue to help, she doesn't need the aid but the others do,so I'll do my best every little bit helps. I wish more people would do the same or join!!!!!!!!!
The reality shown in this video is why I chose to be a sponsor. I am on a disability and I finally said one day I was going to cut back on junk food or things I didn't really need because I do care about these children and their families and everyone who lives in poverty. I pray for them of course but that is also how I knew I should be a sponsor. It kept bothering me that I wasn't and then I realized it is because of another reason. I believe and I know God, or whatever your faith calls Him, would want me to help someone else in such desperate need. One of the commandments says to treat your neighbor as you would yourself. Well if you knew your next door neighbor was suffering greatly or was dying of malnutrition you would help would you not? When it says your neighbor it means your fellow human beings not only where you live. I do not mean to lecture or offend anyone so if I have offended anyone I apologize in advance. I plead for this only for the sake of our fellow human beings who are dying when there is enough money in the world for this not to be happening. They also have the right to live in peace and not have to suffer so horribly.
Gary, I decided I should tell you here as well as in an email how happy I am that you have joined in sponsoring two children in need. I hope that more people will join us in being a sponsor. Or if you are already a sponsor of a child in need please share your story. I taught my children and my granddaughter what it means to share from the heart and to treat others as they would want to be treated. They were loving and giving children and so is my granddaughter. When she heard I was sponsoring a child and writing to him she wanted me to tell him that he will always be in her heart. This kind of giving and loving kindness is what need to be taught to children and we have to set an example for them by giving to others. Especially those children in such extreme poverty. Gary I didn't ask you which organisation you sponsor the children through? How did you make your decision on which organisation to sponsor children through?
Have a wonderful and peaceful day everyone. Peace, love and light, Ariel
When Ariel recently brought World Poverty Day to our attention and mentioned that she sponsors a child, it rang a cord with me. I have thought of being a sponsor for quite some time, but kept putting it off. On the same day while surfing the internet for unrelated info, I clicked on a page advertizing a Sponsor-a-Child charity. It was time to act. I am now the proud sponsor of 2 children in Latin America. I highly encourage everyone, who can afford it, to please do the same.
Since starting DUO, it has become obviously clear that to “make a difference” we need to focus on our children. It is so sad that children are being brainwashed into falsely believing that God, Allah would be pleased with suicide bombers. Their sacred texts clearly state that God engraved in stone “Do not kill.” There needs to be a major campaign by everyone and especially our Muslim friends to emphasize this fact—to somehow reach the children, perhaps plaster it on every wall. On another front we need to find improved methods in teaching our children the DUO principles. How can we as a group promote these ideas?
At the same time we need to work harder to help lift up our children living in poverty. We need to do better in sharing the wealth. How can we promote these ideas?
As a start, let’s see if a DUO Sponsor-A-Child Chain will work. (Perhaps you can think of a better name or promotional ideas.)
The chain begins with Ariel C. She inspired me to sponsor a child, so I am second on the chain.
Ariel C. > Gary G. > ? Who will be next on the chain?
Probably many of our members already sponsor a child; tell us your experiences.
