We have much to talk about in terms of our Environment, and how to replenish it, create more Green Power, and reduce our use of Fossil Fules - so Get with it, and Post your thinking !!!
At a minimum, if we all were to no longer litter, that alone would establish the United States as the leader in environment. Caring about our environment requires nothing more that a true since of self esteem. With this, we can even exceed the standards of the Kyoto agreement.
Environment Reform: is considered applicable to federal, state, and community managed programs. The scope of which is to include cleanup of infrastructure, land, water, and air. Consider, if only to stop littering demonstrates world leadership in Environment. Then by producing cheap and clean energy, we can also exceed the compliance with the Kyoto agreement. As we all know, this is for reducing emissions of pollutants, green house gases, and reduction of acid rain. Its impact is not major globally when other nations ignore compliance, but does matter in terms of providing a clean place to live. As a standard in living, its value is also what others eventually envy.
Programs are to be emphasized as we must clean up our past abuse on the environment in order to live here longer. Environmental impact is compromised by the amount of carbon we emit into the air. Carbon Cap Trading is viewed as not a strategic solution, as the cost can be past to consumers, which perpetuates its market.
The water and ground that we pollute, and the lack of replenishment of the resources that we have taken from our land must be corrected.
I don't buy the fear mongering surrounding the issue of global warming, and I suggest watching the film Global Warming or Global Governance, but that doesn't mean we can't go green! There is a middle ground, we just have to be wary of solutions that our the Dems and Repubs offer us, and create solutions of our own!
My blog http://gettingfrugal.blogspot.com has many simple things we can all do in our lives to tackle this issue.
As my friend David points out in his group Go Green on WorldUnificationNetwork.org...
"The only people with any good reasons to not want this, own the oil companies! Regardless if we are the cause of global warming, in the last 200 years, we have practically invented pollution! Maybe it's time we started thinking more practically!"

I think part of the reason the focus is on "global warming" is precisely because it's a THEORY. Notice how it displaced the focus on pollution, a term which is very clear !
I agree that politicians, who when not in office tend to work for corporations, are going to concoct some pretty strange exchanges with these carbon taxes and/or credits.
The goal is clean energy, consuming less, and preserving the enviroment. So we have to keep focused on that, whether we subscribe to global warming as a theory or not.
