Hi Patt. Long time no see! Thanks so much for your invite to a great group. I haven't been around for quite some time, due to operations, etc., but I'll get back to things now, as best I can. I've missed the site! I'll start a diary very soon, so that you'll know what's been going on with me. Until then, thanks again for the invite. Take care.

Hello:  I'm a sinle woman living in Old Bridge New Jersey.  I work as a certified nurses aide on the overnight shift.  I have one son who is in Boot Camp...and I miss him terribly.  I also have one black and white cat named Juno.  He's a brat, but I love him.  I live fairly close to the Jersey Shore. I patiently await letters from my son. It's hard because he is so far away in Missouri.

Thank you Patt for the invite..

I am a free soul, people person (I love people), socializing. For the past few years my health had declined severly and I had to major surgeries in a 7 month period. Before my surgeries, even with severe physical pain and emotional health issues, I always woke and jumped out of bed fresh and ready to start the new day. I took it as it came. About a year ago my emotional state began to decline and for about the past 6 months I was waking everyday wishing I had not and knowing that I would not be able to go back to sleep. I started to stay in bed and not leave house for weeks at a time. Two nights ago as I was going to bed I was thinking, dwelling on this issue. I desperatly wanted to get up like I used to, feeling a live, fresh and positive. Well the next morning I did wake up and jumped out of bed, and started functioning. Imagine that. I also did again today although it was 4:30 am.

I have always been a writer and have lost touch with it seems everything I have enjoyed out of life. I look forward to sharing my thoughts with all and reading yours. Hugs WbW

I journal a lot, not as much as I used to do just a few years ago but I find it the best way to learn to write. It teaches you how to communicate ideas far better. Its been a coping mechanism for me as well. I've battled with a speech impediment since childhood. It doesn't show very often, I have it under control fairly well. I have some form of undiagnosed word retrieval which leads me to stutter and to.... well.. to freeze up like an overloaded computer. I don't freeze up physically but rather thoughts and words seem to get lost between brain and mouth. Immensely frustrating when it happens.
I find journaling has given far more control over my spoken word.

An interesting side note...
There is a community of Nuns who for one reason or another have more incidences of dementia than would normally appear in the general population. What the researchers discovered, one of the odd side notes, is that Nuns who journaled or who wrote detailed notes, etc. generally did not suffer dimentia. The Nuns who rarely wrote and when they did gave minimal amount of information were the bulk of those who showed early on-set of Alzheimers.
So journaling and writing extensively is likebody building for the brain. It keeps you healthier.

A shameless plug.....
I've started 2 groups on Facebook...... Arjuna's Journey.. and Buddha's Daily Status. If you're ever over there drop in and have a peek. Its still small and raw but who knows.
