Several weeks ago we asked supporters to writeto the victims of the violence targeting the Christian community in Baghdad. In total about 1750 prayer cards and notes of encouragement were received from Open Doors offices worldwide! These letters were combined to create a beautiful 250-page book. Last week it was presented to a Christian leader in Baghdad. Upon receiving the book an Open Door staff member commented, He was touched. He saw it as an answer to their prayers and a confirmation that they are not forgotten. On behalf of Christians in Baghdad we thank you for your support in their time of need.
Father, as Christmas draws close, we think of our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world who are forbidden to openly celebrate the birth of Jesus. We pray specifically that Christians in Vietnam, Iraq, and North Korea will have opportunities to meet together this Christmas, and that You would protect them as they gather in Your name. We ask that Your love and peace be ever-present and will warm their hearts despite the opposition they face. We thank you that Christ is the , and even in the midst of horrific circumstances, He reigns over all. And Father, during this time of Christmas celebrations, may the witness of Christians worldwide fill the hearts of those who do not yet know You, and that Your presence will be made known to them. Fill them with Your peace and joy that every tongue [will] acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. - Phil 2:11. Amen.

Father, we are in constant awe at Your mighty hand in our world. We ask now for Your protection and comfort over Asia Noreen, as she awaits her appeal. Please give her favor and help her to continue to honor and serve You in the midst of her current death sentence. We also pray that in Tunisia Christians would remain strong and unified and may Your Church grow in strength and numbers during this time of transition. Father we ask today that You would bring stability to that country and the government in particular. Also Father, we thank You for the blessing that the Standing Strong through the Storm leaders seminars have been for the persecuted churches, and may Your gospel continue.
Praying with you,
As massive protests in Egypt enter their sixth day, we are growing increasingly concerned.
We fear that we may have seen this movie before. When similar protests erupted in Iran in 1979, they were likewise led by middle class merchants and professionals. Yet radical Islamists led by the Ayatollah Khomeini were the ones who ultimately seized control. Iran changed from a strong ally of the United States and Israel to a violent enemy of both. The people of Iran have been subjected to a tyranny too absolute and violent to overthrow.
The same tragedy could unfold in Egypt. The the radical organization which gave birth to both Al Qaeda and Hamas -- is among the largest opposition forces in Egypt. If radical Islamists seize control of Egypt, America would lose an ally, and Israel would see its peaceful border with Egypt turned into yet another front of war and conflict. The Egyptian people would be saddled with a tyranny that could make the present regime seem benign by comparison.
We therefore ask today for your urgent prayers. We ask that you pray for the people of Egypt, that they will remain safe during this turbulent time and emerge with greater freedoms than ever before. And we ask that you pray for Israel. Let us seek Gods intervention to ensure that whoever wins this power struggle in Egypt will honor thebetween Egypt and Israel, not rip it up and open a new front of war. Let us pray that somehow this unrest will multiply peace and not unleash greater violence.
But let all those that put their trust in thee
let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them:
let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. Psalm 5:11
5And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount
and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day,and the shining of a flaming fire by night:
for upon all the glory shall be a defense. Isaiah 4:5
With blessings to you and those you love,

Father we unite today in prayer asking for a peaceful end to the demonstrations in Egypt; protect your flock and shield them from injury and bloodshed. We ask if there are hidden schemes from those who want to cause harm to the country be thwarted and their intentions exposed. And, if there is a change of power in the government we pray for complete freedom of religion for Egyptian Christians and other minorities. Today we give praise for the release of Pastor Dmitry and give thanks for sustaining his family during his imprisonment. May this time of healing and reunion be sweet; filled with thanksgiving and joy. And Father we stand united as we remember and honor Lao Lia Po's mother, may her life and earthly death bring glory to You. Amen. .
