Lives Changed, Communities Transformed, Hope Restored
Unprecedented amounts of food and Christian materials were distributed in North Korea. A record number of Bibles and other biblical literature went into India. During the short window of time when there were no checks at the Libyan border with Egypt, more Bibles reached Libya than in the previous 42 years.

The year 2011 was historic for Open Doors. Worldwide over 3 million Christians received Bibles and Christian literature, over 263,500 received Bible training and 172,000 benefited from development projects. Due to the sacrificial giving of supporters, countless lives were changed, communities transformed and hope restored. Read the full report… then praise God and give thanks!

Dear Donna,

Imagine yourself as a Christian living in an Islamic country during Ramadan

Before the sun rises you hear the call to prayer. As you prepare your morning breakfast you realize that you must eat a bit extra; sunset will come late this year and the day will be long and hot. As a Christian you do not need to fast during daylight hours, but if you choose to eat and drink you may be yelled at, spat at, or harassed by your Muslim neighbors. You sigh deeply as you think about what this sacrifice means.

So you choose to fast. But what about your children…must they too fast?

These are some of the realities that Christians living in Islamic-dominated countries face during Ramadan. This is the holiest time for a Muslim…and the most challenging for Christians.

So together, let us pray for our brothers and sisters living among Muslim neighbors. Together in unity our prayers will strengthen, encourage, empower and comfort them. Then let us pray for Muslims worldwide to come to know the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Update - “Thanks for Your Prayers”
In May we prayed for Ribur Manulang and Roy Kalbulan, two Christians accused of converting Muslims in Indonesia. In an amazing letter, Ribut tells about the experience and express their gratitude for our prayers. “The police came and brought us to the prison. On the way there, the Lord opened the door for us to share our faith. Every mile, opportunities to talk about Isa (Jesus) kept coming. The police, reporters, and everyone in the prison heard about Him!”

Pray during the Final Days of Ramadan
On Sunday, August 19, Muslims around the world will end their time of fasting and prayer. From now until then let us join in fervent prayer for not only Muslims, but also for our Christian brothers and sisters; that through their witness of Christ-like living, many will come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Heavenly Father, we come to You today with concerns for our brothers and sisters suffering in prison in Eritrea. Father, it is summer and very hot there, so we pray for provision and comfort as they struggle under the harsh conditions; assure them that they are not alone, and that You are with them in the midst of their trails. Please also be with their family and friends as they try to find ways to bring extra food and medicine to them. Lord Jesus, we stand in awe of the courage of our brother Vinh in Vietnam. Thank you for being his rock and source as he endured the beating, and we praise You for his miraculous healing. Be with him now as he prepares to go back into the field and share Your Word through-out the towns and villages of Vietnam. And Father, we pray for the church in China and for your flock there. Father, as China experiences prosperity, we pray that they will not depend on these fleeting riches; instead that they find true treasure in You. In the name of Jesus who is our All in All. Amen

Praying with you,

Open Doors Prayer Team
