On May 21 a judge sentenced 12 Coptic Christians to life in prison for their alleged part in a riot. Eight Muslims charged with the same crimes, in the same riot, were all acquitted. In contrast, on May 14 the death sentence was upheld for a Muslim who had killed a Christian.
Injuries Severe/Several Dead after Suicide Bomb Attack in Nigeria
Amid allegations that soldiers were responsible for at least eight of the 21 deaths, the Muslim extremist Boko Haram sect claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing of two churches on Sunday, June 3. Most of our members are critically ill in the hospitals, said Johnson Elogva, associate pastor at Living Faith Church. He added that many of the churchs 2,000 members were left traumatized.

Eighteen Confirmed Dead in Twin Church Attacks in Kenya
At least 18 people have died and 66 wounded when assailants burst into the Africa Inland Church (AIC) and the Catholic Church in Garissa, a provincial capital about 120 miles west of the Somalia border. Eye-witnesses said that the attackers shot the two policemen guarding the AIC church, then took their guns and began shooting at worshippers.
Church of Christ in Nigeria Reeling from Massacre: On July 7th fifty church members were killed in the church building where they had fled to take refuge. "They were killed alongside the wife of the pastor and his children," said Rev. Dachollom Datiri, Vice President of the Church of Christ in Nigeria. Church officials said that in all, about 100 Church of Christ members were killed that same weekend in attacks in 12 villages. The Boko Haram radical group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Bombs Blast on Children's Bus in Baghdad
A group of Iraqi children were on their way home after attending First Communion lessons when their bus was caught in a series of bomb blasts. It is simply a major miracle that nobody died or was more seriously injured, said Andrew White, the vicar of the Anglican St George Church in Baghdad.
Nigerian Christians Killed in Attack during Worship Service
On Monday, August 6, armed gunmen surrounded the Deeper Life Bible Church and opened fire. Reports are still being released on the number of deaths, but according to the Associated Press, the attackers killed 19 worshippers; the churchs pastor was among those killed.
