Sunday, after the elections, what will your church do?

Our country is about to elect or reelect a president and the nation is politically divided. You might have witnessed it even within your congregation.

This can be overcome because there is something on which we can agree... we are each an important member of the body of Christ and delight in standing together regarding the things on His heart.

Galatians 6:10 reminds us that His desires are for us to first care for the household of faith. Well, today over 100 million members of the family of God are being persecuted.

Young people imprisoned, pastors beaten, churches burned, hundreds of thousands of families displaced, all because they decided to follow Jesus.

You might expect that their first prayer request is to change their circumstances. But it’s not. They want us to pray that their faith remains strong... in spite of their circumstances. In harmony with God’s heart, their desire is to tell their families and friends about the love of Jesus Christ.

What an amazing lesson we can learn from them. And you can share in that lesson by praying with them on International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, Sunday, November 11.

Stand with them so that they can change their world with the gospel of Christ.

This week don’t miss the chance to be One With Them by reading the testimony of Ethiopian brother, Tamirat WoldeGorgis. Forced to share a 13×13 foot cell with 40 other inmates… God was at his side!

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, November 11th
It’s easy to sometimes close our eyes and ears to the injustice experienced by God’s people; but He calls each of us to pray and advocate on their behalf whenever possible. On Sunday, Nov. 11, consider organizing a time of prayer at your church or with a group of friends. Together with hundreds of thousands of Christians worldwide, we will unite and pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who share our faith, but not our freedom.

Be One With Them on IDOP Sunday, Nov 11, 2012
Anamika’sjourney in Bangladesh from growing up in a Muslim family to teaching literacy classes using Bible stories to women and children in a Dhaka slum is the miraculous story of the tenacious love of God drawing her into His very presence; but she admits that her life has not been easy. “My parents told me that I betrayed my nation when I became a Christian. I also have been pressured to go back to Islam many times. During those times, I felt frustrated. I would cry. But then I would pray and read the Bible. These helped me keep my faith.”

One With Them/IDOP
Walking up the steep trail four-year-old Cristina lagged behind her mother and 13-year-old brother. Urging her to move faster to not be late for church; they never dreamed that in a matter of minutes her world would be turned upside-down. On November 11, you have a chance to be one with believers like Cristina united through prayer on the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP).
