Update on Uyghur prisoner Alimjan Yimiti
Prison life is hard for Alimjan shares a family friend. He needs to buy his daily necessities in jail, which is three times more expensive than in shops outside the prison facility. Allowed only one visitor per month it is usually by his wife, Gulnur, or his mother. Considering the circumstances, the friend says he is doing well. Alimjan, a Uyghur Christian, was convicted in 2009 by China on the allegation of "instigating separatism and revealing state secrets" and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Those close to the case say that there was never any proof, and they have maintained that the reason for his imprisonment is his Christian faith and witness among the Uyghur people.

Community Behind Bars

Sometimes, when we think of our neighborhood or community, we think of where we shop, work, attend school, and worship at church. This is our home, our refuge, places that are familiar to us. But for most, we would never think of our community behind prison walls! This is exactly what Isaac and Daniel thought when they were arrested. At first stunned that a mere snooker game would turn deadly... and then being arrested, these men, along with 16 others, were unjustly sentenced to prison for crimes they did not commit.

Isaac shares, "Once we accepted that jail was an opening for us to live out our testimonies, the Lord granted us the grace to use our time in prison for His glory." Flogged, beaten and tortured, the men, never succumbed to despair, instead they used every opportunity to bring others to Christ! Isaac adds, "After spending two years behind bars, my heart is at peace."

Farshid Fathi

prisoner

Write a Letter Petition Official

Location: Iran (Islamic Republic of)
Arrested: December 2010

In a letter written from prison, Farshid Fathi described how his interrogators have used emotional manipulation against him. He wrote, "I was told falsely that my wife had been arrested as well, and that I needed to give my [two] children's custody to someone temporarily. I was also informed, falsely, that my dad had a heart attack and was hospitalized. Then they wouldn't give me any follow-up news on whether he was dead or alive. It was all intended to put me under mental pressure."

In reality, his father is fine, and his wife and two children fled Iran in 2011. They are now in Canada.

Continue to pray for Farshid, who faces at least three more years in prison. His faith remains strong. More Info
