How sad.....I think this young woman is amazing from DWTS and so is her brother, Derek.
Actress, dancer and country singer Julianne Hough may appear to have a charmed life, but in a new interview, she reveals that she is a survivor of childhood abuse.
While attending the Italia Conti Academy of Arts, “I was abused, mentally, physically, everything,” Hough tells Cosmopolitan magazine (quote via People).
She was 10 years old and living in London at the time, studying dance at the prestigious academy while her parents remained in Utah. “I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer,” Hough recalls. “I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy façade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love.”
The 24-year-old performer adds that the abuse worsened when she hit puberty, but declines to name her abusers or provide any details. “I’m a very forgiving person, and I don’t want to hurt anybody,” she says. “What’s past is past.”
Still, she was forced to confront those old emotions head-on while filming her new movie, ‘Safe Haven.’ The film chronicles the relationship between a woman who survives an abusive ex-boyfriend and a widower, played by Josh Duhamel. Hough says that one particularly wrenching scene was especially hard to film.
“I went from bawling to containing to laughing to crying again,” she recalls. “Josh was crying. I think it was the most therapeutic moment of my life.”
‘Safe Haven’ opens on Feb. 14.
I love Julianne & Derek! The greatest dancers on Dancing With the the Stars IMO! Never knew that about her though. How awful. I would have to disagree with her on keeping those idiots names quiet though, if they are still alive.
Totally agree Sherry.....by keeping quiet, how many other children have been harmed by her abusers? Look what happened at Penn State....everyone kept quiet and look how many boy's lives have been destroyed. Call them out now!!!!
What was that English guys name that abused so many. Was it Ray who had put it up?
Yeah..I remember that creep!!! And it went on for ages!!!!!! I am glad they took that expensive grave stone off his grave..what a disgrace he was!!!
This gal is so pretty too!! Today I don't even know these stars anymore!! There are so many young ones that are way out of my age group that the names just don't connect! Faces maybe..but not names! I agree she should come out and name these creeps!
Baroness Butler-Sloss: Savile has been 'a wake up call'
immy Savile is now thought to have been one of the UK's most prolific paedophiles, but what can we learn from the case about the way in which we deal with historic allegations of sexual abuse?
Former High Court judge Baroness Butler-Sloss said what worries her most about the Jimmy Savile story, is that "everybody will be terribly upset for a while, then it'll all die down."
"I think if one looks at the whole concept of child sexual abuse - friends, neighbours, colleagues, find it extremely difficult to believe that the nice guy they work with, or play bridge with, could possibly behave like that. Most people are in a very understandable denial, that it really could happen."
She continues: "People who suspect abuse are sometimes hesitant to complain because, like the victims, they feel they won't be believed, and adds, "I think Jimmy Savile has been a wake-up call."
Baroness Butler-Sloss and Peter Davies, Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) lead for child protection and Chief Executive of Child Exploitation & Online Protection Centre (CEOP), also talk about the way victims of abuse are treated by the police.
Investigation is still going on, and there have been a number of arrest's by Met-Police
