A Hearty Welcome to New Members (Mod) March 01, 2009 7:27 AM
A hearty welcome to new members since Elizabeth's last posting when she was owner of the site
Other engagements led to her handing over the group to me for caretaking and I am slowly re-activating archived postings of interest so watch for those several years old today
Meanwhile, do feel free to post or at least to introduce yourself here if you like
Kindly address all postings to the whole group and not to me or others personally
A wonderful to all the new members this past week... thank You all for coming to Ellan Vannin and seeing the beauty of the island which Gari and I enjoy....

A warm to all new members of recent times....it is great to see you here and I hope you enjoy your tour of the IOM.
While the group is not so active as it once was, we are still here for our members. Please feel free to re-activate the many threads in the archives should you so desire... there you will find heaps of info on the beautiful Isle of Man.
Forgive me for not finding your message sooner Barbara.
What a nice message sharing your visits and feelings about the Isle of Man... I am so glad that your memories are such treasured ones. I do hope that you make it here once again soon.... you know you will not regret it.
I have had several holidays in the Isle of Man. I have timeshare and have stayed four times at the Cherry Orchard at Port Erin, very welcoming and comfortable. I think they also let apartments.
But the first time I stayed in the Isle of Man was in the 1950s, at the CHA guesthouse in the old coastguard station on the cliffs at Peel. I had never flown before but thought the 20 minute flight from Blackpool would be endurable even if I didn't like the experience! We were delayed by fog and the conductor on the bus from the airport said I would miss the connection to Peel if I stopped on the bus right into Douglas, so he told me and some other Peel bound passengers to get off earlier and wait for the Peel bus to come along. Fortunately it did and we arrived at the guesthouse safely but a girl from Newcastle was on a later bus . She would have missed her connection to Peel. "Never mind " said the conductress. "Come home with me and I'll put you on the Peel bus next morning." When I heard that story, I took to the Island and its people straightaway.
to recent new members.....thank you for visiting our delightful Ellan Vannin

Elizabeth ... it's so "funny" --- because I joined a long time ago; since Care2 updated their software I've had friends go "missing" from my list as well as "groups" that I joined before ... I'm happy to be back!
A warm to Patt.... for joining. Have a wonderful time here at Ellan Vannin.. there is lots to read, learn and just absorb about our beautiful jewel in the Irish Sea. Feel free to browse and post and don't forget to check out the archives and reactivate any threads of interest.
A warm Margaret to Ellan Vannin.... for your presence.
I do hope you enjoy your stay with us here in this group. There is lots of material amongst the many different threads. Feel free to browse and post when- and wherever.
Hello friends, Susila in Nepal/Norway, re-joining the group. A long story, but once again I might be contemplating a move to the fabled Isle of Man. Anyway, I did want to re-join you, and follow the discussions.
Hello Elizabeth. This is the first time I have posted and I wanted to let you know how I am enjoying reading the topics. I especially like the photo's of all the Manx cottages.
We are intending to move to the Isle of Man this year. We are coming over in just over a week's time and have lots of houses to look at. We know the Island very well as we spend nearly 3 weeks there every year for the Manx Grand Prix.
We just have to decide where to stay in February. We usually camp but can't do that this time of year!! We are thinking of the Groudle Glen Cottages, as we have stayed there in the past.
We are really looking forward to our visit and just hope the Ferry crossing won't be too rough.
A warm to all recent new members.... your presence here at the Ellan Vannin group is so much appreciated.
I do hope that you search the threads and also the archives (reactivating threads from there if you wish) and enjoy reading and learning about our wonderful Isle of Man
Thank you so much for the welcome Elizabeth! I intend to learn as much as possible about the Isle of Man from this group! (If only I was still living in that part of the world, I could at least explore the island myself!)
Oh well, at least I'll be properly prepared for when the opportunity finally arises!
A warm to Charith.... have an enjoyable visit to Ellan Vannin dear friend and please feel free to browse current threads and also reactivate those in archives if you wish.
Hi Mike, the weather is rather mixed Mike.... highest temp about 28C in summer (very rare of recent years) and lows in winter from 0C to about 10C... so a sort of temperate climate with lots of breezes/gales/rain/ mists/ and sun too of course...
