Cool, Sarvoji! You can give us an idea of what it's about if you'd like. Pique our curiosity, and maybe someone here will read it. The book I'm reading now...Misquoting Jesus... goes into detail about the illiterate people having to be read to by anyone in the church who was able to read. At the time of Christ, 95% of men/women were illiterate. But whereas most religions were not literal, but more ritual and verbal...Judaism was one of the first to have written scriptures.

.

The book that I read about Rachel and Leah, who were sisters, and daughters of the wealthy Shepard Laban. (hmmmm...probably, maybe...from where the tribe of Lebanese descended) Both were married to Jacob who was the father of Israel. It was Rachel's hand-maiden, Bilhah who was a scribe for Jacob, and also mother of two of his sons, who copied the Holy Scriptures handed down from his father Isaac, and handed down from Abraham.

I guess I just find it all very interesting.

I'm reading and "practicing"  The Seven Powers of Spiritual Evolution, by Alba Ambert; founder of The Paramita Path.

This book is a call to the heart of those who are looking for a way to resolve their sense of emptiness and find solutions to the ills of the planet.  The book helps to open your heart and realize your power to change, not only yourself, but also the world around you.  This path offers the possibility of a kinder world for it guides you to the realization that you are a spiritual being with the power to choose a higher path, the power to create another reality: a world of union, joy and light.  By activating the seven powers discussed in this book, you can open your heart to the Love of the Creator and use the energy of this Love to position yourself firmly on the journey to enlightment through unconditional love and service to others.

A Love and Light hug to all

Thanks, Felicita!   It sounds like a wonderful book, I'll look for it. I'd like to change my tendency to have angry blow outs.

The Divine Code of Life by Kazuo Murakami

http://www.amazon.com/Divine-Code-Life-Discover-Talents/dp/158270144X

It’s a book that will shake you views about life and open interesting perspectives. The author is a renowned scientist and writes using a lot of common sense. It’s the kind of literature I enjoy.
In a few words, he discovered that a lot of our genes are inactive (we use a small percent of them), and if we manage to put them to work, we can improve our health and life in general. Also, he is one scientist that acknowledges the existence of Something Great (meaning God), knowing that most of the scientists are atheist.
I’m still in the process of reading the book, but it looks promising.

I will definitely read that book, Cezar...thank you for the link and for introducing it to us.

Hmmm, I noticed I mis-spelled shepherd in my last post...I must have a mental block.

I am in the process of reading another Stephen King, called '"Song of Susannah"...a part of his Dark Tower series. About people who find hidden doorways to enter other dimensions and Susannah, herself is posessed by demons...a psychologist would say that she is suffering from a multi-personality disorder. Perhaps a reincarnationist would say that she is having strong memory interference from past life experiences.   It's a great fantasy book, as are all of Mr. Kings's books.

When I read "The Stand" a decade ago, I screamed when I read the last page, "NO! It can't be over!"

Sorry to disapont everyone (maybe)

But at the meantime, most stuff what I read are all kinds of travel tips and information for summer vacation that I plan. My friend is coming to visit me in Lithuania, so I'm searching for places to stay while traveling around the country, museums, galleries, concerts atc.. Like he said- working as a travel agent

When out of computer I read some English books (not only textbooks that I need for my work). I have started 3 books (maybe I should finish at least one?)

One is about the history of Richmond, VA .

Second is a funny one for determining the IQ of your cat.

Third's the romance novel that I started first of these three

Now I've got another book about America and tutorial for using photo editing software. So I guess i will start 2 more and not finish any one soon :-|

Can't say I'm a good reader, huh?

I'm reading "Take off your glasses and see" , A Mind/Body approach to expanding your eyesight and Insight; by Jacob Liberman, O.D., Ph.D.

This book shows you how to free yourself from the crutch of prescription lenses, to build self confidence and awareness, and to open up your inner and outer vision in order to see more clearly.  Liberman explains how most vision problems are the result of an unconscious decision to "close your eyes" to emotional disconfort or pain, and how increasingly powerful corrective lenses only encourage eyesight to withdraw even further.  By removing lenses and practicing breath , movement and awareness techniques to shift your perception, you can reintegrate the original disruption in the mind/body system.

Highly recommended, is an eye-opener for anyone interested in seeing in a new way.  I'm still in the process of reading it, but I can attest to its effectivenes, I'm taking off my glasses more frecuently!

Wow! That's interesting! You posted...vision problems are the result of an unconscious decision to "close your eyes" to emotional discomfort or pain, and how increasingly powerful corrective lenses only encourage eyesight to withdraw even further.

I know someone who did that through prayer and faith. I haven't seen him in a while, so I don't know how it's going for him.

Hmmm, I wonder what I'm closing my eyes to...

could it be the aging process?  It started at 42. But diabetes runs in my family...although the book Cezar mentioned, about the Japanese geneticist scientist, claims that we can program our genes to turn that trait off. He basically pushes the positive thought, and I agree with that concept.

Ausra...you are very ambitious and I do that too sometimes, having more than one book started...if it's a boring beginning I set it aside, until I'm so bored that I'm willing to pick it up again.

Have fun on your vacation! Those books will be there when you get back.

Women in the World Religions -Arvind Sharma

I found it by chance in a cardbox in front of my porche (I know, there is no coincidence!). It's explaining role of women in world religions. The introduction made me very sad, thinking how much of a ruled by men world has been denying and belittling womens brain for so long. We are lucky to live where we live at the time we are living, women! But we are just at the very early stage of discovering what our intelligence, creativity and emotions can bring to the world. Think about it. For centuries and centuries, we have no record of what half of the humanity was thinking! It's such a terrible waste. It made me really sad to realize that. But now, we are at the exciting times where we women are just starting to be heard at least in some parts of the world. We are at the beginning because we still hear sentences beginning with "The First Woman who [fill the blanks here: entered the French Writer Academy, became President, won the Nobel Prize and so forth]. When will it be over? I would like to say it's not a battle, I would like to say we don't need to fight but simply be.

The book explains essentially that women helped starting religions and then lost their influence for man-driven societies.

I hope this book will help me to stop being angry at any religion. How can I believe in one religion when it omits me and gives me bunch of unfair rules and assumptions that I need to follow whereas men enjoy the true freedom of spirituality? I can't find my spirituality growing in any of the current religions, based on unfairness of gendrification.

One Minute Wisdom by Anthony de Mello.

The book presents an interesting point of view. However, I don’t share it.
I'll hopefully open a topic with some of the paragraphs in the book, provided that I find the English translation.

Women Who Run With The Wolves, by Clarissa Pinkola Estes

I lovely book,a good one to read.

Cezar, I have the whole collection of "Awakening to Life" by Anthony de Melo. I listen to it very often. It's a 2 days seminar he gave at some University 20 years ago. I aboslutely agree with all what he is saying, and thanks to him I experienced one day a "true moment of enlightment" (during 15 seconds) and it was absolutely fantastic. I was able to see "What Is" during a short period of time and it was so accurate and sharp, like what he explains about "being right next to yourself" to see truth
