Demand Houston School Address Anti-Gay Bullying

Last week, a 13-year-old student at Hamilton Middle School in Houston's Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, took his life after relentless bullying from his peers. The student, Asher Brown, was gay, and was tormented by bullies at his school because of it, and because of his size. He was kicked down stairs, had his books thrown across the hallway, and would be grabbed and groped by his classmates as they performed "mock gay sex acts" on him.

Yet, according to Asher Brown's parents, the school district and administrators within his school did nothing to address the bullying, and refused to listen to their concerns. Moreover, a story on a local Fox News affiliate about this case, reveals that many other parents and students in the district have tried to put a stop to bullying, yet have been given the cold shoulder by administartors in the school district.

Send this school district a message that they need to address anti-gay bullying now. No form of bullying should ever be acceptable, let alone on the basis of sexual orientation. The school and school district need to act now in order to make sure all students are safe, and that students are not put in a climate where committing suicide is seen as an acceptable option.   Link to petition..please sign and thank you Echorose
