Australia is a rich country and spends tens of millions on politically driven, unsustainable developments, junkets for politicians to travel the world, mind bogglingly generous superannuation for politicians. But when it come to funding for wild life research, then the budget is tight, maybe a few million. So the Tasmanian Devil faces extinction and now the koala is fast disappearing. Maybe if there was a monetary return , then things would be different..
Well, kill the animals and stuff them to keep the rest. What a brilliant concept!

End this gruesome, unnecessary spectacle. Killing animals for "sport" is completely wasteful.
Shut down all kennels...? How about trying to get people to stop being so irresponsible and abusive towards animals so that there will be no NEED for kennels...and rescue groups...and shelters...
Why are people so quick to label these facilities as nothing more than prisons and concentration camps for animals? I don't get it...So if I've been working at an animal shelter for the past 6 years...which I have..., that must mean I'm completely apathetic towards the constant flow of homeless, neglected, abused dogs and cats that pass through our doors every day...?:::sighs:: Sorry to vent. It just frustrates me...

Debbie it is the same over here in the UK, there are shelters filled with cats and dogs it is heartbreaking. I can only say a big thank you you to people like you who look after these poor animals.

Please watch - things like this are hapening in the US also - we just don't get it on the news unless we listen to alternative news which is already being censored. So who are the animals now - these are the beings that should be put in the "kill" shelters - not the innocent animals. Thank you.

Support Rudozem Street Dog Rescue in providing a Dog Shelter for the community.
Why should your government be opposed to a proposal that will be of no expense to you and which will relieve you of the cost and ultimately ineffective, constant, destructive system you have in place now for dealing with the increasing number of homeless, abandoned, abused animals wandering your streets? Rudozem has a far more positive, humane solution. Please take this into serious consideration.

Thanks Val. Keep up the pressure on the Aust Government. They are in damage control and the news is not particularly good. This ban is a smoke screen and is a temporary ban ( applying only to cattle and only to Indonesia. The rest of the foul trade continues) until abattoir standards are improved. Apparently cruelty is okay if it conforms to "standards". Believe nothing they say.
I am a bit invisible. Very busy writing letters for the campaign and generally raving. Also Shelter is busy. So much to do to nail this one before the slimy bastards wriggle out of the of the spot they find themselves in. They have had years of practice and success. Expect more shocking videos about sheep.
I have now given up using pins on my voodoo doll and am using horse shoe nails.

Still a bit flat out so had some catching up to do. Sometimes I question whether I am awake or asleep. Going through those petitions is just like "groundhog day". I swear that if you go could go off fora few months and start signing again and it would all be the same. Just a few name changes, that's all.
The Live Export situation is not going well. People has got tired of chatting to each other over the cups of latte. A few even signed the odd straw poll and have done their bit.

Thanks Val. Still trying to catch up. Things are grim here. Looks like live exports will resume very soon. Today was a National Day of Protest. What a joke. I was the first person to turn up here. After half an hour there were 9 people. Sydney with a population of 4.5 million managed a few hundred. So much for all the outpouring of disgust.
You, my Care2 friends have done more than most of the locals.
SORRY TO READ YOUR NEWS SIMON, PEOPLE ARE INDIFERENT IN MANY CASES. HERE IN URUGUAY IS THE SAME.HUGS, NICE WEEK END.

Pretty feckin' pathetic, isn't it, Simon? I'm sorry. Far too many people just don't want to make waves...or perhaps, like so many people worldwide, they've become complacent. Well, we've got your back here, love. Don't worry about that.
All done. Thanks Val for your ongoing work for us. It is appreciated although I don't post too often.
Hi Simon - I know this is cold comfort - but apathy is sadly worldwide, unless of course it involves great sums of money and then people seem to perk up at the prospect of profits.

I thought that I read yesterday that Patsy has been adopted. Hope so.
Local authorities , as representatives of the people, irresponsibly allow for a stray dog "problem" to develop. It is of their own making. The animals are put in "shelters" ( I thought that a shelter was a place of sanctuary), then they are given the ultimate sentence to be tortured to death for no more reason than that the local authorities have not done their own job.
How perverse is this. "A pox on the lot of them. !"
Hope she has been Simon - let us know if you find out.
- still working on fence - ran into a few difficulties yesterday and have to go to lumber store after husband gets up - someone has to play referee between the dog and cat.... then this week paint and take care of rest of garden and yard - love being outside - but this is grueling in 100 egree F (38 degrees C) weather.
