On behalf of Orangutan Outreach. A moment captured between an orphaned orangutan and a forest school instructor/caretaker. Over 600 orphaned and displaced orangutans are staying at the sanctuary. Many brought in via confiscation through the illegal pet trade or via palm oil plantations that continue to rob these great creatures of their forest. Orangutan Outreach and Nyaru Menteng work together to help conserve this species and educate the world about the critical plight of this great ape species. We call this photo "The Standoff."

Orangutans are in such dire straits because of their habitat being replaced by palm oil plantations. If you want to help animals such as orangutans, Sumatran tigers, rhinos and others from this loss of habitat, please check labels for Palm Oil which also goes under many other names, and find another similar product to purchase not containing Palm Oil.
