Buddha is beautiful! Shakespeare sends his hugs!!!! December 28, 2004 4:48 PM
I love Buddha!!!! I sat Shakeapeare on my lap and showed him Buddhas pictures online! We both enjoyed them very much! Shakespeare sends his magical lizard hugs Buddhas way!!! Love,Lanie

I brought Buddha in here and we browsed the photos! He enjoyed it so much! He likes to sit on my shoulders while I work online anyway, and will react to certain scenes. He enjoyed the photos of Shakespeare, and himself. lol He's a ham. I so enjoyed the photos of Shakespeare and your cat. Buddha and our cat sleep together all the time! Actually Gooch will go and lay down with Buddha, not the other way around, but Buddha, when on a walkabout will walk over Free (the dog), and I'll just tell ya, she isn't any too happy about that at all. She won't react overtly negatively, but will leave the area the moment Buddha has passed. lol
Dreamsinger, my older cat Yoda reacts like your dog does at times he just looks like he wants Shakespeare to go away! Theres times when Shakespeare will just climb over the cats to get somewhere he desires to go! Its funny but princess our female cat is seriously in love with Shakespeare! We call him her boyfriend! My third cat moon just gives Shakespeare looks like "What the hell are you???" He seems to be totally stunned by the green man!!!! wherever Shakespeare goes princess Bossy Boots follows! He loves to lay in the window sill in the summer and she lays right next to him! Ive caught her licking his head! Its just too funny! Im glad you and Buddha liked the pictures. I too cant wait to see the others. Love,Lanie

Gooch, the cat, will "groom" any one *ahem* that is in the area where he chooses to nap. I actually believe he is deliberate in his choices when he naps . I have only seen him "groom" Buddha once, and that rough tongue on Buddha's head got a serious bobbing reaction to which Gooch responded by reconsidering his position and relocated to the recliner. He has napped with Buddha several time since then, but I've never seen him "groom" him again.
On the subject of grooming, however, I bathe him everyday. Buddha, that is. He loves the warm water and will generally swim for awhile and then float and nap. When he was younger he was a tub pooper, now he has a favorite "spot" that he goes to when he feels the "urge", and we have potty pads that we keep down for him. They are the bed pads used in geriatric facilities, and we just fold them up and dispose of them when he uses it. For awhile there we had to keep a roll of paper towels and a spray bottle of clorox cleanup on stand-by. We didn't know when or where and had to be prepared. Now that he has his "spot" life is a lot easier for all of us.
I tried to get Shakespeare used to water when he was a very small baby(warm water of course) I disinfect the tub and rinse it very well and then I bath Shakespeare around three times a week but he fusses up a storm whipping, and throwing his enormus weight around sometimes hell do a little swimming but hes so big he cant swim laps or anything! Its so good for them to bathe it helps the shedding process but Shakeapeare just loves himself a great big fuss fest! Hes like "Hey Im here to complain, whip, flip out and cause chaos!!!!!! L.O.L Buddha sounds like he lives up to his serene, wise name. I wish he could rub off a bit on my Shakeapeare! Hes a tyrant, though today hes been very nice which is odd! Ive been whispering to him petting him and doting on him alot today plus he got his favorite food green peas put in his salad. Happy New Year Dreamsinger,Family, and Buddha!!!!!!!

New picture of "Size Idea" January 19, 2005 12:47 PM
For those of you considering getting a green Iguana I wanted to post a picture I recently took of my friend with my Iguana Shakespeare so everyone could get a idea of just how big these lizards will get. Please consider looking at the picture so you can come to terms with just how large that cute green baby will grow up to be.(providing it gets a healthy diet, proper U.V and heat lighting, proper sized environment, lots of love, calcium supplements, sunlight) Its a real REALITY CHECK for you. Id never trade my Iggy for the world but hes a extreme amount of work so if your not dedicated to providing what a Iguana will need to be healthy and live a long happy life please dont get one consider another reptile thats more your speed. Please see the picture in my gallery entitled "Melissa and Shakespeare" Love and Iguana Blessings to all. Lanie

Joanna! Welcome back!!! I've seen Grinch before, but so enjoyed the photos and so glad everyone else finally got to meet you and your beautiful green boy, and that you and Lanie have had an opportunity to meet.
I've been away for a bit, but Lanie keeps things going here, and the information flowing. She is absolutely a treasure! Lanie, Buddha and I appreciate you and Shakespeare so much and never ever say it nearly enough. I've been busy with health (mine) related matters lately, but I want to mention that my boy has been downright perky since Lanie has come into our lives with some diet modifications. I'll make a post about that on the thread where we talk about that.
Thank you so much for sharing the pictures, Joanna! I am so glad you're with us. *hugs*
Wishing you wellness Dreamsinger January 31, 2005 2:39 PM
Dreamsinger,Im so sorry to hear youve been sick.I will send you positive energy for healing. Take good care of yourself and drink lots of green tea. (Its wonderful to maintain health) Vitamins,A,B,C,E,Enchinacea,Goldenseal,Garlic, and CoEnzyme Q-10 are great too. Ive missed you and Buddha but I sure understand when your not feeling well its hard to stay on top of everything! Just remember your health comes first. You need to maintain a healthy balance and take great care of yourself. Im so glad to hear Buddha has been perkier due to more diet variations.Ive found that the more veggies and fruits you introduce to iguanas the less they experience dehydration.Proper hydration and healthy moisture levels are one of the hardest things to maintain when Iguanas were kept in captivity. I also find that they are more willing to try various food and eat alot more then if they were on a limited diet which is always good. Give Buddha big hugs for me and Shakespeare! I look forward to more healthy, happy,Iguanas. Peas,Love, and Giant Green Iguanas

Hi Dreamsinger and Lanie and boys.. February 05, 2005 2:26 AM
How are you doing? lol
My friend who has Grinch (Angel)came for a visit as she had just come from work and Grinch must of been in the mood( as I call it )because he bit her under the chin..OUCH!!
Also she told me he got his toes caught in cage somehow and lost a few toes..My poor Grinchthat just broke my heart.I cried...
A week of Iguana Chaos! Hugs,Joanna February 05, 2005 9:01 AM
Joanna Im so sorry to hear about Grinch loosing a few toes and to hear of Angels chin! (Shakespeares missing one tip of a toe. When he was a baby he jumped up on a table and something fell on it. I took him to the exotic reptile vet and got him fixed up I had to soak it in iodine/water mix (as directed a few drops iodine and a cup or so water) so it wouldnt get infected NEVER use alcohol. It was his one injury hes gotten and man hes been lucky! Im sorry you have been away from your baby my heart goes out to you. I will pray for you Joanna and for Grinch! Love to you both Im here to listen if you need me.(anytime Iggy angel!) Love,Lanie

right now I am crying.. February 14, 2005 12:21 PM
Hi Lanie,I just now talked to Angel...I was crying and she said she could bring him over on Wed.She is so sweet she knows how much I love him..Lanie, she even asked me if I wanted him back..I told her I could not take care of him still as my RA is getting worse. And even if I did I had no cage for him and Dave won't let me because of the last bite I took from him..He leaped from his cage and bit me in the stomace...I was standing several feet from his cage too..
Joanna Im really sorry to hear of your health problems continuing. I know R.A is tough my sister has had it on and off. I am really sorry you cant take Grinch home with you and that you miss him so much. I know Iguanas can be a big responsibilty and I know how they can try to injure or hurt thier owners at times due to many factors. I know Id feel like you do if I was in your shoes. I hope that you get better really soon and that you can at least visit Grinch and be a part of his life because I know you love him very much. Hugs,Lanie
