Hello all!

I met Jane briefly at LosCon, a science fiction convention. In addition to clearly enjoying herself she impressed my with her quick mind and social conscience. Yes - he comments and questions were what I would have made if I had thought to. (I think of the clever response hours too late.).

Being a citizen of humanity rather than one country seems so right to me. It is difficult for me to even understand those who don't get it.

I was a civil roghts worker at one time. My kids did learn about the damage people are doing to the earth.

My current mission is to work with the california Nurses Association to improve the health of people in California, and the world.

We have acheived much, however money and power oriented corporations, politicians, and businesses see us as a threat.

Check out our web site:

http://www.calnurse.org

I love music and any opportunity to sing with others.

Hello February 05, 2005 8:06 AM

My focus in life has been heavily centered on conservation and animal rights, but my recent travels to South Africa really opened my eyes to the "outside" world.  I feel that if you are going to conserve the environmental and its animal species, you have to make sure the "human" ones are healthy too.  They are the ultimate caretakers of their habitat.

I was born in the U.S.A. (no, I'm not Bruce Springstein), served for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal, and have lived in Mexico for the past twenty years. I've been involved in anti-war movements and in actions to improve the environment. I'm also active in the Asociacion de Scouts of Mexico.

I guess you could say I've always tried to look at things globally, rther than from a narrow, nationalistic persective. It's hard for me to "Imagine" as John Lennon suggested, a world without countries, but perhaps we can try.

Hola everyone

Yes! "Imagine" is my favourite song. I believe it is all very possible! And I am dedicated to a world like the one John Lennon described in that song!

Yes, I see myself as a human first, and "Australian", or any other label, second. The wise thinker Jiddu Krishnamurti talked about this. (I very much recommend you check out the prolific and poignant works of that man.) He claimed that nations, religious groups, organizations and so on all divide us from each other. Here is a relevant quote from Percy Bysshe Shelley:

"If a person's religious ideas correspond not with your own, love him nevertheless. How different would yours have been, had the chance of birth placed you in Tartary or India!"

because the world I want to help to create is one of global cooperation.  I want to live in world where the most successful is not who accumulates the most stuff but rather who contributes the most to the other life on this planet ( for starters then we can move on to the cosmos).  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Why am I here? May 23, 2006 2:36 PM

Hello I am a new one, and just wanted to say that the only way for peace and freedom is as a whole. Borders are a giant hinderance to the idea of humanity. Jennifer  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

hi my name is jessika and i strive to keep up w/ what is going on in the world and to make day to day decisions based on fairness & justice. i need help getting pointed in the right directions sometimes, as in, if there is a socially conscious business i should support, or if there are current issues i have not yet heard about. someday i would like to take my kids across the world for a summer to help a community in need. my older daughter has suggested this for herself (she is in high school) and it made me think that we ALL should go. (i don't think i am invited though -- typical!) anyway, nice to meet you all!
