Dear Supervisors:

As a constituent / concerned citizen, I strongly urge you to:

1. Halt the ACC action scheduled for 9.20.12 against TaraSun, a nonprofit sanctuary in Sebastopol. Do not use taxpayer money to destroy these disabled and hospice cats who, by the ACC's own determination, are receiving excellent care. Lynn Styles, a nurse and TaraSun director, is giving these animals specialized care, unavailable elsewhere, all at her own expense. ACC's only issue is that TaraSun exceeds the County's four cat limit.

2. Review County ordinances and recognize that nonprofit rescue/shelters/sanctuaries are and should be exempt from ordinance licensure requirements, including the four cat limit.

3. Completely eliminate the four cat limit in Sonoma County (for all residents). It is intrusive, unwarranted and counter-productive, and enforcement of said law is a waste of tax payers money.

4. ACC intervention should be limited to cases where cats are abused, neglected or where there are issues of nuisance.

The Humane Society or the United States (HSU donates money to the University of Florida (UF) a well-known primate research complex!!

 

They also have a campus slaughterhouse.

 

UF continues to do animal testing while the rest of the world is using non-animal alternatives.

 

HSUS believes that because they send money to a 'different building on campus', they are not being hypocritical!

 

In fact HSUS is not only condoning animal testing as acceptable by letting their name become synonymous with primate torture, but they are also accepting global support for supposedly fighting animal testing!

This is what HSUS says about helping to end lab animal suffering. Couldn’t they have told UF no money until there’s no more animal testing? Isn’t THAT what an animal welfare organization would do?

Many humane state-of-the-art alternatives to animal experiments have already been shown to be effective in advancing medical progress, cutting research costs, and eliminating animal suffering.

The HSUS is at the forefront of promoting these research methods and their continued development, as well as ending some of the most inhumane research practices. Until the day when animals are no longer used in harmful experiments, the HSUS, with your help, also strives to gain stronger legal protection for animals used in research, and seeks to limit animal use and suffering. Right now, approximately95% of the animals used for research aren't afforded even the minimal protections of the Animal Welfare Act.”

The bottom line is that’s what those involved with archaic animal research will be able to say- it must be OK since HSUS gives to UF. I think HSUS should pull their money from UF until UF bans animal testing. PLEASE help me ensure the HSUS doesn’t become UF blood money by contacting HSUS corporate leadership today. Your letter can make a difference as a voice for innocent animals trapped in a brutal sadistic unnecessary laboratory!

Dear Friends:  Horrific animal abuses are currently taking place at the Cairo University Veterinary College. Whistle-blowers have come forward with eyewitness reports of staff and students tieing up dogs, bludeoning them with sticks, beating them prior to "research," then throwing them out of third-story windows after experimenting on them with no anesthetic. A donkey foal in confinement within a cell was videotaped being electrocuted to death. In another horrific "experiment," donkeys are photographed in a large room hooked up to archaic machinery, dead from injections from unknown toxic substances. See the petitions below for photographic evidence.


Please immediately take action by signing and sharing the petitions below. If you have already signed, forward and share. Egypt is in historic transition, but animals need not suffer as a result of human ignorance and political upheaval. Within this climate of unrest, Egyptian animal welfare organizations are in desperate need of financial assistance and having their voices heard.
