"We need to make sure that we get prayer back in schools in some form or fashion." -La Shawn Ford
(Chicago, IL)—In response to the Sandy Hook tragedy, Illinois Representative La Shawn Ford is calling of an official recognition of prayer in U.S. Public schools so that "students may turn toward religion when they feel weak."
Ford met recently with a group of Chicago area ministers and said, "I . . . urge the ministers here to fight to get prayer back in schools. That's a mission that we need to do. We need to make sure that we get prayer back in schools in some form or fashion."
Surprisingly, according to Alton Daily News, Ford's suggestion was "not well-received by the ministers to whom he spoke."
