A picture of the earth from outer space:
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds."
Evolution of Man: How long will it take to evolve from a caveman mentality??????
WELCOME TO PLANET EARTH
I would say that even cavemen had some sort of civility at times. What is going on in this world today with the Muslim extremeists goes beyond a caveman mentality to the point of insanity. They are true barbarians in every aspect of the word! Their lives are consumed by hatred, violence, murder, rape and you anme it...I don't think the cavemen even had this kind of mentality! The Muslim extremeists are just plain SICK!!
Inhuman comes to mind?
Good to see you my sister Carol, whooowhooo!
Thanks Ivy!! I figured if i can get in here early then I can try and get the rest of my stuff done in my group after this.. Thanks for the invite!
I know I see you on Facebook at night...
I think it's worth remembering that we're only about 200 years more evolved than the Muslim extremists. That is to say, racism used to be openly condoned, even to the point of slavery. Genocide against indigenous groups was condoned. Actually the Nazis were a little surprised that we came into WW II against them instead of staying out of it, as we had basically the same racial stock and racism against subgroups in our own country were hardly unknown. We were separated from the Nazi mentality only as a matter of degree; poor black women were sterilized by the government in the South as late as the 1970s.
So, the next time you think about some woman being lit on fire for some honor killing, just consider that we used to do it to blacks.
Why is the Muslim world only just now starting to form democracies? Probably just the long term relic of Colonial rule. We took resources from the rest of the world to make our own nations better. This is the long view of things. They are catching up now.
