Sin, Shame, & Divine Judgment |Expose#Nwsltr-011313
Shame, Sin, and the consequential Divine Judgment are inseparable. When a people or a nation falls into sin and that sin is not repented of and stopped; then Divine Judgment falls. The International Standard Encyclopedia defines Shame. I have an excerpt of it below
Shame: sha¯m (bo¯sh, "to be ashamed," bo¯sheth, "shame," aischu´ne¯, "ignominy," atimi´a, "dishonor," and other words): An oft-recurring word in Scripture almost uniformly bound up with a sense of sin and guilt.3
Now while the words above are bound up with a sense of sin and guilt, shame in the context of which I write today will bring out the true and full scope of the word shame and the shame of a people. But shame is not so hard to see within a society or the lack of such shame. Tower and I have discussed how there is such a lack of 'shame'. People seem to be shameless. They don't understand, care, or maybe not even know that to do certain things is shameful. But in the context of American society today, we have taken that which was considered shameful decades ago and put polish on it and now today; behold, it is no longer shameful.
Her case was atypical. I have tried to witness to druggies while high and drinkers who were drunk. As the bible says, "do not answer a fool according to his folly"3, for if you do, the fool will look wise in his own eyes. How many fools would not listen? Being drunk, or high, or just plain stubborn; they refuse to hear the Word of God. But, I have heard these things before. I have led inmates to the Lord in jail and have heard them tell me how much they love the Lord and will serve him. While on the inside, i.e. "in prison"; they are gung-ho for Jesus so to speak. Once out, many are never heard from. Those I have seen, fall away, failing to find a good group of believers to be around. They end up with the same old crowd and once with the crowd, they do as this crowd does. This usually leads them back into the same old bondage. How does one tell you or anyone that the Heart is the issue? How can we make you understand the fact that your body, your mind, your heart, etc. is fallen nature? That once fallen, it remains fallen! It is the fallen nature in man, in which, you are redeemed from by Christ and will be with the Lord one day
Dan 12:1-2 verse 2 "Shame", contempt
1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
