"He stood up for Milo just because it was the right thing to do."
(Houston, TX)—Michael Garcia, a waiter at Laurenzo's Restaurant in Houston, sees his regular customers as family. Maybe that's why he came to the defense of 5-year-old Milo Castillo, a boy with Down syndrome, and part of the Castillo family who visit Garcia and the restaurant on a regular basis.
According to Garcia, another diner was making rude comments about Milo, and insisted on being moved because "special needs children need to be special somewhere else."
That's when Garcia had had enough.
"My personal feelings took over and I told him, 'I'm not going to be able to serve you, sir,' " Garcia explained. "He said, 'If you're not going to be able to serve us, then we'll leave.' Then I told him, 'How could you say that? How could you say that about a beautiful 5-year-old angel?'"
The customer and his family left, but Milo's family had no idea of the incident until another server told them.
Word of Garcia's "heroic" response got out after that, and before long his Facebook page was inundated with affirming comments—the media soon followed.
Milo's mother, Kim told reporters, "I was really impressed that Michael would stand up for Milo. He really doesn't know us . . . He stood up for Milo just because it was the right thing to do."
Kim and her family were worried at first that Michael might lose his job, however, Laurenzo's Restaurant is reportedly standing behind him.

It just reminds me of the companies that do not stand behind their employees when they do DO THE RIGHT THING! I've written Macy's back a few times because they kept sending sale emails. I do not stand behind what they did to their christian employee. Or that imbecile Auto Zone for getting rid of the guy who ran out to his vehicle to get his gun when robbers came inside, all because they have a no gun policy. He wasn't walking around at work with it on him. He ran and got it to help his fellow employees. How stupid and unnappreciative can idiots like that get when a policy is more important than human lives???
yOU GOT IT!
The only reason this waiter was not fired was because this restaurant was owned by a small business person. Corporate America would have fired him in a minute for exercizing his own personnal decision [good or bad] and thinking out side the corporate box so to speak, as most of corporate America does not want thinking individuals, corporate just wants you to do and go where your told. How sad.
Thats why banks LOVE ATM's as they work 24/7 , do not need benefits and never think outside the box and the main reason being that ATM's have eliminated MANY jobs. So the next time you use an ATM think of the person who lost their job because of this machine.
As technology grows in Corporate America it eliminates jobs which makes government grow larger...... the two work hand in hand.
Obama is in the process of changing the words written on the bottom of the Statue of Liberty to read "Give me your tired, poor and unemployed", and thus Government continues to grow.

NOT patronizing these corporate morons is the smartest thing we can do. Hit them where it hurts---in the pocketbook.
Sherry what did Macy's do to Christian employees....tell them not to say Merry Christmas? That stinks if they did.
I think they refuse and JCP also to have separte dressing rooms for transgenders...
Rhonda, I don't know which one in San Antonio, but one of the Macy's in SA got rid of a black christian lady because she refused to let a transgender go into the women's dressing room. I saw her on video talk about it. I, as a woman do n ot want to go into a women's dressing room area, come out half dressed say to get a better look in the bigger mirror, or let my friend see if they like what I have on, whatever, and see a man in there! I stand beside this woman and what she did all the way! If they don't want to discriminate, then quit discriminating against women and put in some damned fitting rooms for these other people.
Same token for boys or men. If they do want to see a woman in the men's dressing rooms, they damned well shouldn't have to either.
Proof of a company that does not stand behind their employees when they do nothing wrong.
