thank you for the invitation! I am with Population Growth too, but in so many places the already present population is far above the earth's carrying capacity.

Thank you, Monica, for the invitation. This is an area of extreme concern for me. I fear that the habitat of too many creatures is being destroyed. The Earth is taxed in supplying the essentials of life for all creatures. Pollution will increase, shortages will increase. Right now the future seems very grim
I add my thanks to Monica for starting this group and inviting me, as well as the kind words! It is so helpful to know that I could have any part in inspiring you, especially as I was becoming discouraged. Things like this help to renew my hope in a brighter tomorrow - preferably with a few less people in it.

I have signed the pledge. I hope that somehow the world will start to realise that the
constant population growth has to be curbed and curbed NOW - Resources are dangerously
low....I hope the world will take notice and act...
Sorry to say but like China (I believe that's the country) they have a good point limit the amount of people. Only because someday there will be a very big problem in the world.
There is just only enough room for so much on this living planet and we all need each living thing but when one thing is gone it will start to effect the others.
Balance is the key. And right now on the people side we are not balanced.
I dont see any real solution to this. Maybe a 2 child limit. Good in theory, maybe, but not universally workable.
No one in this country is going to be told how many kids to have....especially the ones that have many. Gees....I was reading on another post that education and healthy lunches violate their freedom.
The Chinese were at least thinking about this....but the unintended consequences resulted in murder of baby girls and a shortage of marriageable women.
They have had to try to attract women from other places to marry the first generation of the 1-child policy. They don't have many women.
Another thing that has come up is the lack of accurate census info. Not many are admitting more than 1 child..the fine is something like $28,000 ...more than they will ever be able to pay.
The lack of knowledge about how many children they really have impacts things like public assistance, schools, city infrastructure...etc.
This is probably not a realistic plan.
Realistic reproductive education and options would be a start.
There are more issues than ignorance at hand. The teens I personally know with babies got pregnant on purpose. They wanted a baby.
Those are just the obstacles in this country. Other countries have their own.
