Signed thanks Michela. I first saw a Sumatran Tiger in the wild long ago, and had further opportunity to get to know them, when I was twenty one. The memory of that meeting is one of the most graphic memories I have. The thought that they should cease to exist is beyond my comprehension.
Signed and already signed. According to Kompas, a news media in Indonesia, the amount of Sumatran Tiger now is about 300 and not 400. Thank you, Michela. Sorry to give you this bad news.
It would be a great TRAVISTY to lose another one of GODS creations. These animals need our protection. Why do we think it is our place to destroy such wonderful life put on this earth?
Michela M. , I've had it with facebook treating people who help animals that way but, yet they let animal abusers pages up forever! I'm sorry to hear they did that to you, It happend to several people! I am more active on here, Twitter, change.org and sometimes Myspace because, of facebooks attitude and I feel it's more effective on sites that are friendlier.
4th petition signed and fb...thanks for keeping these alerts coming in group notices, as I would probably miss many without it!

I cannot imagine a world without tigers! These magnificent cats are integral part of the ecosystem and a major link in the food chain. There is little time left for mankind to learn to take care of our wildlife home, if expect to survive.
All petitions signed. Thank you Michela.

I click, note, sign, write -- anything and everything I can possibly do to help the magnificent tigers....
Glad I found my way back to this group. Thanks Michela.
The pictures are absolutely awesome. Glad to see Betty White is involved. Terribly sickened by what that 18-month-old tiger caught in a trap had to go through. I see how much the push is on to save these vanishing tiger populations from greed and senseless slaughter. SO SAD! MAKES ME MAD!
Just a note: I do wish that people starting a petition would make sure their spelling is correct. Although I know their heart is in what they are doing, it makes the petition less effective. A number of Care2 friends have told me they won't sign such petitions. For instance, there is one here from the "World Wildlife Fedration" - really? I know there are many people with English as a second language, but they really need to double check how they write it up.
Thanks for working so hard to save these beautiful animals.
Thank You! Your click helped feed a big cat!
Happily signed all 3 petitions anything to help these beautiful tigers. They are magnificent creature!
All petitions found here signed, previously or now. Thanks, Michela. We must not only hope that these magnificent animals will survive -- we must back it up with direct action! They can be saved if there is a will!
PETITION: SAVE TIGERS NOW (Wildlife Conservation Society)
Just 3,000 tigers live in the wild today. These majestic animals face grave threats to their survival, including poaching and habitat destruction. Help us give tigers room to grow: Support Wildlife Conservation Society's efforts to conserve these great cats and their homes.

THESE BEAUTIFUL TIGERS NEED TO BE SAVED BEFORE THEY BECOME EXTINCT!!!!!!!!!!
Signed all of them. These animals need our protection and we are their voices!
I hope that our grandchildren will not have to find out how the tigers looks like only from the books because there will be no one existing in the world...
Thank you Michela
Beautiful photos. I've got nine cats. They have the same look in their eyes. Savage and cuddly.
Thank you so much Michela.
I signed this and another petition on the site, thank you... my only concern is I believe in the causes, but I couldn't find the exact wording of the petition anywhere which I don't like... I just found the reasons behind it...
mic for the great feed big cat link..bookmarked it..

Signed most of the above petitions. It's getting late here so will try to sign the rest tomorrow, if not "next year" lol
All petions signed. (Beautiful pictures Michela - thanks!)
I condemn hate wearing fur. How can this be a woman. The killing of an animal. A death benefit to be beautiful. I love so much tigers than the people.
I am so sickened by deforestation. It makes me sad for the trees, flora, and the wildlife living there. We are the voices for them.

It has relevance to this group, although - besides the Tiger, or his Subspecies living in individual Countries (Indonesia/Sumatra incl.) - it offers a more holistic view via the inclusion of all Big Cats in the world

Signed, how could anyone possible harm such magnificant animals
…The camera captured 404 photos of wild cats - including 226 photos of Sumatran Tigers, 77 of Clouded Leopards, 70 of Golden Cats, 27 of Leopard Cats and four of Marbled Cats.
4 of these Species are protected and are listed as threatened by Extinction on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List.
Much of the area is being threatened by large scale clearance for industrial Logging, Pulp & Paper, as well as illegal encroachment for Palm Oil plantation development. The photos underscore the rich Biodiversity of the Bukit Tigapuluh landscape and the Forest corridors that connect to it, and serve as a reminder of what could be lost to logging, plantations and illegal encroachment.

Video: Big Cat Sounds
"Big Cat" is not a precise biological term, it is just a verbal shorthand for distinguishing the larger members of the taxonomic family Felidae from smaller ones. Some people formally define "big cats" as the 4 Panthera Species: the Tiger, Lion, Jaguar, and Leopard.
But other people also include Cheetah, Snow Leopard, Clouded Leopard, and Cougar under the "big cat" umbrella.
Big cats make interesting sounds. For example, only Panthera can roar. For this reason, they are collectively often known as "the roaring cats". Roaring requires special morphology of the larynx and hyoid apparatus in the animal's throat. Interestingly, despite having hyoid morphology similar to roaring cats, Snow Leopards cannot roar.
Here's a collection of some sounds that big (and not so big) cats can make.

We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form
Rising wealth lifts demand for exotic pets and delicacies in Asia. Meahwhile, enforcers are stretched thin.
A male Sumatran Tiger was caught by villagers in October. Bima, as he’s called, growled inside his cage in Perawang, Indonesia, earlier this month. Tigers, along with Elephants and Orangutans, are mostly threatened by Habitat Loss on Sumatra island, but Poaching is a major threat, too. Bima is to be released back into the wild in April.
Signed I love all animals but I prefer tigers !
thanks,michela and cher
FOR THE TIGERS.
AND THE EARTH.
The best way to deal with these perpetrators is to heavily fine them say $10 Million USD PLUS a minimum of 20 year prison sentence
and if they can't pay such an eye watering amount - then consfiscate all their asset including that of their immediate families! This should be good reminder to the rest who are thinking of engaging in such despicable trade.
The fine then should be put into Tiger conservation programmes!
News: Crime Chiefs agree to get tough on Illegal Tiger Trade
15 Feb. 2012 - Crime Chiefs from Countries with populations of wild Tigers agreed to work together to combat the Illegal Trade in the Big Cats. Heads of police and customs from 13 Nations agreed to tighten controls & improve cross-border co-operation at a two-day meeting in Bangkok.
Smuggling of Tiger parts is one of the main threats facing the planet's remaining big cats.
Only about 4,000 Tigers are estimated to remain in the wild!!
Scientific name: Panthera tigris
- Only 6 Subspecies remain: Amur; Northern Indochinese; Malayan; Sumatran; Bengal & South China.
- 3 Subspecies are now extinct: Bali; Javan & Caspian!!
- Tigers' historical range once spread across Asia: from Turkey to the far east of Russia;
- Over the past century Tigers lost 93% of their historical range!
Signed! The picture of the poor dead tiger on ice is just heartbreaking Why must we destroy such beautiful creatures.

1) (Care2) Save Sumatran Tigers from Extinction Indonesia's SumatranTiger could be the 1st large predator to be EXTINCT, unless Poaching for body parts&IllegalLogging are stopped: only 300 estimated Total SumatranTigers left!!
8) SAVE TIGERS NOW + Video - Just 3,000 Tigers live in the wild today. These majestic animals face grave threats to their survival, including Poaching and Habitat Destruction. Help us give Tigers room to grow: Support Wildlife Conservation Society's efforts to conserve these great cats and their homes.
100 years ago: 100,000 Tigers lived across Asia, from the southernmost parts of Indonesia to the easternmost parts of Siberian Russia.
Today: fewer than 4,000 tigers exist in the wild, and their numbers shrink every day.
The reasons for their endangered status include substantial habitat loss, from widespread forest clearing by industrial and agricultural trade, and human-tiger conflicts, as tigers are forced to live closer to humans where both sides clash over livestock as their food and humans retaliate attacks by killing tigers. But the biggest force in tiger extinction is the black market demand for tiger parts, which fuels poaching and captive tiger farms, the majority of which are in China.
The Bukit Tigapuluh Forest in Jambi and Riau provinces of Sumatra, also known as “Thirty Hills,” is one of the most important Habitats of the critically Endangered Sumatran Tiger. Over the past 2 months alone, WWF video and camera traps have recorded the presence of 12 Tigers, including two mothers and their cubs, in the Forests outside Bukit Tigapuluh National Park. Sadly, the area is under imminent threat of being cleared by Pulp & Paper Companies and Illegal Palm Oil growers.
The Bukit Tigapuluh Forest is also critical to the survival of forest-dwelling Indigenous People, the Suku Talang Mamak & Orang Rimba, who have been living there for centuries. Many other Endangered Species, including Orangutans and Elephants, also depend on the forest there.
Urge the Government of Indonesia and the Logging Industry to stop the destruction of critical Tiger Habitat in Sumatra.
The Kerinci Seblat National Park, which spans 4 provinces on Sumatra island, is home to an estimated 190 critically endangered Sumatran Tigers, Sumatran Rhinoceros, Elephants, Clouded Leopards, Sun Bears and more than 370 Bird Species.
The road would be disastrous to one of the core Tiger Habitats in Asia and the plans for 4 roads through the park would open up previously inaccessible land to villagers and Illegal Loggers, divide breeding grounds and movement corridors, and destroy vulnerable Ecosystems.
Sadly, many big cats are Endangered or Threatened Species in the wild: their Environment is shrinking due to Deforestation & Illegal Hunting/Poaching for body parts & fur are decimating their numbers, they are facing a battle for their very survival in the wild.
Apple: being a global leader and one of the most successful Companies earning tens of Billions of dollars a year, it is your moral obligation to do your part to ensure the very survival of the majestic big cats - the ones your Mac OS X versions are named after. Please spread the word to your customers & the general public about the threats faced by the big cats and contribute annually to Wildlife Conservation Organizations who are fighting to save the big cats & their Habitats in the wild.

Nowhere to hide: Tigers threatened by human destruction of groundcover
The Sumatran Tiger, native to Indonesia, could be the 4th type of Tiger to disappear from the wild. This is due, in part, because of Deforestation and the Loss of thick groundcover, also known as understory cover, by a study that is the first to systematically investigate the use of both forests and plantation areas for Tiger habitat.
Those incredibly magnificent animals deserve to be given a chance to survive. What's the use of killing them? For poachers to make money? And when there are no tigers left??
Good morning/afternoon/evening, I hope I signed them all. Thanks for sharing, Michela and for all the wonderful work you do here on Care2. You are a very special person. The world needs more like you.

"Signed" all the petitions including the list under No. 16.
This list is quite awkward to follow because one sees the in the title "21 petitions", them many of the first comments mention 3 petitions, then one gets bogged reading through all the comments, thinking "where are the other petitions?", then one wastes time checking the endless links to members' news items only to find that the petitions are not there, only to discover the petitions are near the bottom of the comments.
I get turned off by some petition websites such as ForceChange because I cannot see which petitions I have already "signed" or who or how many people have "signed". (I am a subscriber to Ecological Internet and they encourage people to "sign" more than once because their actions are actually a protest and not a petition).
No. 16 is awkward. Why a "petition" which is actually a pledge to "sign" 14 petitions, many of which have now closed? (The only positive thing is that those petitions are all genuine and all on Care2 whereas, in the past, I have come across such lists of petitions (regarding seals) that were poorly written, with spelling mistakes and links that do not work, and at obsecure websites).
No. 17 is missing.
Thank You Michela. roared all around.
all 22 signed -- thanks much, Michela -- great work!
THANKS SO MUCH, MICHELA for posting about the stamp. YOU did such a wonderful job of posting the info in color and bold and with a pic too!! SOOO Nice!! I buy these stamps for ALL my letters and bills and it is a small and "painless" way to add some more funds to save these magnificent creatures!! and the stamps are just very nice to look at too! I hope that lots of people buy them to use from here! On my personal mail, I always point it out on the envelope too so that others are encouraged to buy them also, maybe even the postal workers as it travels thru the system!
Also, went back thru the list of petitions to recheck that was all up to date and am at 100%. YAY!!
Taylor, awesome picture of this unusually marked tiger!! very pretty! Thanks!
THANKS EVERYONE for helping save the Tigers and friends!! Peace and hugs and purrs all around.
Thank you LD. I just signed that a few minutes ago too!! I hope we can keep it going!

Info: Tiger Subspecies: Six tiger subspecies roam the planet http://www.catchannel.com/magazines/catfancy/april-2008/tiger-subspecies.aspx
Sumatran Tiger: the smallest of all the tiger subspecies, lives exclusively on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. It is estimated that there are between 400 and 500 left roaming (Some say they are only 300!!!!). Because this small Tiger lives in a dense, tropical habitat and has a remarkably good sense of smell, it is hard for conservationists to accurately take stock of their numbers and work toward their survival.
Video: The Truth about Tigers
Even if it refers to India’s Bengal Tigers, not to the much more Endangered and smaller Indonesia’s Sumatran Tigers Species (only 400 – 250 left), this Video provides useful info, Michela
News: Greenpeace ad labels Asia Pulp & Paper a Tiger killer
January 23, 2012 - Greenpeace launched an advertising campaign today illustrating the consequences of Asia Pulp & Paper’s (APP) Rainforest destruction on the critically endangered Sumatran Tiger in Indonesia. The advertisement, appearing in locations across Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, features a striking image of a Sumatran tiger skull along with the title ‘Extinct Sumatran Tiger Exhibit: brought to you by Asia Pulp & Paper.’
”If APP continues to rely on Rainforest destruction to feed its operations, the only place you’ll find the Sumatran Tiger is in a museum”
The Sumatran Tiger is the last surviving Tiger Species in Indonesia.
In Canada, APP has aggressive plans to flood the market with cheap paper and tissue products, with nationwide paper distributor White Paper Co. and others already sourcing large volumes.
Major companies such as Adidas, Kraft, Nestlé, Lego, Mattel and Hasbro have all cancelled their contracts with APP to avoid damaging their brand’s reputation. In the past 2 weeks alone, global icon Levis and U.S. Supermarket giant Kroger have severed ties with APP.
Roughly 1 Million Hectares of Forest are being cleared every year, an area almost double the size of Prince Edward Island.
Hundreds of South African lions are being slaughtered to make bogus sex potions for men. But we can stop this cruel trade by hitting the government where it hurts -- the tourism industry.

I just got the following message from my Representative regarding the bill to renew the postal Stamp mentioned above for another 4 years. Let us hope it passes the vote!!!
July 10, 2012
Thank you for contacting me in regards to H.R. 3510, the Multinational Species Conservation Funds Semipostal Stamp Reauthorization Act, introduced on November 28, 2011, by Rep. Michael Grimm (NY-13).
As you may know, H.R. 3510 would amend the Multinational Species Funds Semipostal Stamp Act of 2010 so the stamp may be offered to the public for an additional four years, in a choice of five different versions of various animals.
H.R. 3510 has been referred to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee. While I am not a member of these committees, I will be sure to take your comments into consideration should this bill come to the House floor for a vote.

I have plenty of obstinacy & courage, probably because I'm a Taurus!!! Courage: because ALL of these issues are very "UNCONFORTABLE" to the Corporations, Big Companies, Big Lobbies, Political Lobbies (PalmOil, Logging, IllegalTrade, Food & FastFood Industry, Oil, Biofuel, PersonalCare, Timber, Pulpwood, etc) that I risk NOT TO FIND this Group anymore, nor my Care2 Account, as it already happened with FaceBook that DELETED my Account in May 2010!!! TY for those beautiful pictures, Michela. It's frightening to realise that even such beautiful creatures are the victims of man's greed. It's frightening for man's future when you realise that even such beauty finds no pity or compassion in the exploiters' heart.

Tigers are magnificent.
I've had problems when I tried to send a postcard to rangers. I'll try again tomorrow!
Signed all petitions that were still open and noted all the news stories.
I also agree with Dianne C. Leaving a comment on petitions is much more important than many people realize. I have started commenting on all the petitions I sign, and making sure the comment is polite is also important.
Also, I have noticed than on some Care2 petitions people sign using their fake Care2 names, instead of real names. Those signatures will not count so always make sure that if you are not using your real name that you change it when signing petitions.
Signed & Shared...Thank you Michela and all of you too for sharing important updates.

Action: Send a Postcard to Rangers in Malaysia & Indonesiahttp://wwf.worldwildlife.org/site/PageServer?pagename=Ranger_Postcard_Sumatrantiger
Rangers risk a lot to help protect some our world's most threatened Species. Please take the time to thank them for all their hard work! This postcard will go to rangers protecting Sumatran Tigers in Malaysia & Indonesia. Often considered the unsung heroes of Tiger conservation, rangers work tirelessly under harsh conditions on the frontlines to protect & conserve wild Tigers. Every day, they are in danger of coming into contact with ruthless poachers, who have no qualms of fatally shooting a ranger in order to escape the law. Yet the rangers stride on daily--in forests, over hills and through snow--to keep wild tigers safe.

Thanks! for posting also on other Social Networks!!! Above all on Facebook: it's my personal "revenge" as Facebook deleted my Account in May 2010, just because I was posting the Link to "my" Petition for Orangutans & Tigers "Label Palm Oil". Notwithstanding this, that Petition reached 6,455 Signatures!!!!!!! and went to the European Parliament...
I hate facebook, but use it some. That is awesome about the petition going to the European Parliament, and worth having your account deleted.
Thank you so much Michela, all done!
Thank you for the gorgeous pictures, Jutta.
Thank you, Jutta and Michela. Your pictures are gorgeous. I like that dog feeding the tiger cubs!

As rapid economic expansion continues to shape the Asian landscape on which many species depend, time is running out for conservationists aiming to save wildlife such as tigers and leopards. Habitat fragmentation can divide populations of species into isolated groups, which can lead to inbreeding and a genetic bottleneck that affects the long-term viability of the population.Cher: http://www.care2.com/news/member/100041282/3529067

China is the largest market for Tiger products, & tiger wine is a popular remedy of the middle class. It is believed that the wine will give the drinker the vitality & strength of the tiger, & a bottle will sell for around $230. Tiger skeletons are soaked in alcohol in order to make the wine–one skeleton will make about 30 bottles of wine. Other popular products include Tiger skins,Tiger claws, which are worn as amulets for courage & for good luck, tail soup–a cure for skin problems–& pills made from crushed eyeballs, which are believed to cure epilepsy. The popularity of tiger parts has led Beijing to consider legalizing the trade in tiger parts–an action that would surely hasten the tiger’s path to extinction. China has done relatively little to enforce its 20-year-old ban on tiger parts, & smugglers & farmers alike frequently kill the rare animals for a large profit. If the Chinese authorities continue to neglect this problem, the market for tiger parts will continue to threaten the livelihood of these endangered animals. Urge the Chinese Gov.t to step up its policies & protect the few remaining members of this beautiful species.Cal: http://www.care2.com/news/member/193692282/3535791

China is a big monster stomps. It will be difficult to fight such atrocities, but not impossible. With God on our side and we being who we become in their hands, voices that rise against the killing of tigers for sale and marketing, we will win. We must unite and fight together. We must stop the pet trade.

Rare birth in captivity for Endangered Species that has as few as 400 individuals remaining in the wild. A Sumatran Tiger named Leanne has given birth to a cub at San Francisco zoo in a rare boost to the critically endangered subspecies. Zookeepers are monitoring the pair in the zoo's secluded Lion House via webcam to allow the 9-year-old mother to bond with her baby.

China is allowing the use of the bones of captive-bred tigers to be used as a tonic wine, even though the practice has been illegal since 1993. The Gov.t justifies this practice by claiming they are captive tigers- not wild ones. But they were obviously wild at some point & taken from the wild. It is estimated there are 5,000 captive tigers on farms & zoos, though there are as few as 3,200 wild tigers left woldwide. 100 years ago, there were 100,000 wild tigers but they were relentlessly poached for tiger parts & put in captivity on farms until they have now become critally endangered in the wild.
Tiger bone tonic wine is believed to have medicinal properties. Tiger bones are left to soak in the wine & removed before bottling. It is believed to remedy muscle pain, rheumatism, arthritis, paralysis & stimulate blood flow & has been used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
China declared to help double the world's wild tiger population by 2022 by combating illegal trading & poaching of tigers & tiger parts, yet it is driving the market for continued illegal poaching & the demand for tiger bone wine. The only way to truly combat the poaching of tigers is to ban the use of ALL tiger products, incl. tiger bone wine. Save the tiger from extinction & stop using tiger products.
Some moving pictures here. It's important to save tigers' habitat and let them move through the whole extent of their territories.
Noted and signed. Getting very frustrated with China. But one honest question: if, as is the case in several things I've read, the product is considered true medicine by perhaps a more primitive people, where does our right to take that away from them lie? As for China, this is just, well, gross!
Signed the ones I hadn't - thank you Michela!

News: One dead Tiger, one month jail http://news.malaysia.msn.com/regional/one-dead-tiger-one-month-jail
On Feb 7 2013, a wildlife trafficker linked to Malaysia’s largest ever seizure of Tiger parts was finally sentenced after a year-long trial. The day after, the world also learnt just what little value Malaysia places on the loss of an endangered species. Mohd Nor Shahrizam, caught red-handed with 8 tiger skins, 22 whole tiger skulls & bones, & 9 African Elephant tusks, was handed down a sentence of 60 months, of which he will serve only 24, because his sentences will run concurrently. So it’s 24 months, for 22 tigers. A little over a month in prison for each tiger that Malaysia has lost forever. It's a featherweight sentence by any calculation, but one that delivered disappointment like the blow of a sledgehammer to all those in enforcement & conservation who have toiled to keep this species from the brink.

News: Wild Boar hunts threaten Sumatran Tiger Habitat
"If this continues to happen, the Sumatran Tigers will fearfully become extinct earlier than expected."
The rising number of wild boar hunts in several parts of West Sumatra has threatened the habitat & population of Sumatran Tigers.
Each Sumatran Tiger consumes an average of 50 wild boars annually. "If people keep hunting the wild boars, the Sumatran Tigers will fearfully lose their food". The Tigers will migrate to other places & their population will shrink because many of them will die. The rising number of wild boar hunts may put the habitat of Sumatran Tigers on the line. The population of Sumatran Ttigers was estimated at 500 in 1994. And their numbers are believed to decline every year. The habitat of Sumatran Ttigers in West Sumatra is 77% found in all over the province. "Only in Bukittinggi city, Padangpanjang city & Mentawai islands no signs of Sumatran Tiger habitat are found". In those areas wild boar hunts are rife.
"Those involved in Tiger hunts & Illegal Trade in Tiger parts must be sentenced as severely as possible"Cher: http://www.care2.com/news/member/100041282/3554775
Sumatra Tiger (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae)
Two other Subspecies of Indonesian Tiger have already been lost, the Bali Tiger &Javan Tiger.
With less than 400 Critally Endangered Sumatran Tigers left in the wild, Indonesian officials have proposed a conservation plan which would allow wealthy citizens to have Tigers as pets for a fee,- about $107,000 per pair.
The sustainable solution is to offer specific protection to the critically endangered Tigers: from Habitat loss & from Poaching. Tiger rental is not a good stategy as it will create a demand & Tigers will be taken from the wild more rapidly than ever.
Tell Indonesia- do not rent out the Critically Endangered Ttigers as pets- keep them in the wild & preserve their remaining natural Habitat by banning Logging; otherwise they will become extinct in the wild permanently.Tiger rental is a sign of greater problems http://www.mnn.com/local-reports/illinois/local-blog/tiger-rental-is-a-sign-of-greater-problems
Indonesia proposes renting out endangered cats as exotic pets.
There are as few as 400 Sumatran Tigers left in the wild, & they’re under relentless pressure from Illegal Poaching & Forest Clearances. Unless we take action now we could lose these magnificent animals forever. Tiger skins are still in demand as luxury items in some countries, & Tiger parts coveted for their ‘medicinal’ properties.
The Tigers’ forest Habitat is vanishing too. Destruction of forests for timber, agriculture & road building has forced Tigers into ever-smaller areas, where they’re even more vulnerable to poachers. Poachers also hunt the Tiger’s prey Species, & Tigers are forced to target domestic animals, bringing them into fatal conflict with local people. Climate Change is a particular threat for Tigers too – around 70% of the Bengal Tiger’s remaining habitat in the Sunderbans mangrove forest may be lost within 50 years due to rising sea levels.
The Sumatran Tiger, the world’s smallest Tiger is now in real danger. Palm Oil Plantations, Logging, Loss of Habitat & Illegal Hunting & Poaching, have led to this beautiful creature becoming Critically Endangered. Its time to change, we have to make sacrifices to gain other things. If we sacrifice some things that we eat, save paper & recycle, these mysterious creatures could once again thrive. Its up to you now...Please sign the petition to help raise awareness.

Tigers are disappearing from the wild because of:
Habitat Loss - Humans are getting on Tigers' turf.
Poaching - Humans are illegally hunting Tigers.
Population Fragmentation - Humans are separating Tiger groups.

I've heard that the massive killing not only on tigers, but all other animals are coming from priests in the past. They're lying to the peoples that was OK to eat meat.
And "Thomas von Aquin"(Priest) living in the 13th Century has said,"Animals have no souls, that their souls are die in their bodies."
And "Konstantin" (Emperor) living in the 4th Century saying about animals,"At their screams we can see, that they have fear and pain."
And the scientist will make us believe, that animals feel no pain and have feelings like we humans.
If the pope say one word, that animals have souls and animals are feeling creatures, then all the torture and hunting of this beauty creatures will stop immediately, but the pope will never saying it.
He,the pope, has said in the beginning of his career,"We must help the poor."
And happened is nothing. The only who he will help is himself and his follower.

There are fewer than 300 Indochinese tigers remaining in Thailand, & a new dam project threatens one of their last intact habitats. The project would destroy a national park in western Thailand- flooding 8 square miles where tigers are having a successful recovery.
The Mae Wong dam also threatens tiger natural prey species such as wild pig & sambar deer. Creating the dam will push tigers out of their habitats and into direct conflict with human beings. The Indochinese tiger is already under threat from shrinking habitat, illegal trade in tiger parts for traditional medicines and a scarcity of prey. With only 3,200 wild tigers remaining worldwide, we ask Thailand to support conservation efforts and protect critically endangered tigers & their habitat- not destroy it with the Mae Wong dam project.

News: Endangered Tigers to Get $33 Million
Critically endangered Sumatran Tigers will have a fund of $33 million set up for a project to attempt doubling their population by 2022.
The Sumatran Tiger, the smallest of the 5 remaining Tiger Subspecies in the world, is also the most threatened. Categorized as critically endangered,
The Sumatran Tiger is found exclusively on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, the last stronghold for Tigers in Indonesia. Accelerating Deforestation and rampant Poaching across the Sumatran tiger's range mean that unless authorities enforce the law, this Subspecies will soon follow the fate of its extinct Javan and Balinese relatives.
Sumatran Tiger population Falling numbers:
-Early 20th century: Dutch colonists report that Tigers were so numerous and bold that they would enter the planters' estate house compounds;
-1978 estimate: 1,000 Sumatran Tigers;
-Today the wild Sumatran Tiger population is estimated at around 300 individuals!!! Over half the population is found in the Kerinci Seblat - Bukit Barisan Selatan landscape, which stretches from Tesso Nilo in Riau to Bukit Tigapuluh, and then from Kerinci Seblat to Bukit Barisan Selatan.

Sumatran Tigers (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is Indonesia's last Tiger, since it already lost 2 distinct Subspecies of Tiger: the Bali & Javan. Listed as Critically Endangered, the Subspecies is imperiled by: widespread destruction of its Habitat for Pulp&Paper & PalmOil, poaching, snaring, & human-wildlife conflict. Around 300 Sumatran Tigers are estimated to survive in the wild. Pet.: Ban Tiger Killing Pesticide http://forcechange.com/70221/ban-tiger-killing-pesticide/#gf_1 Recently, poachers in India have been using a cheap chemical known as Carbofuran as a pesticide to kill tigers. Poachers use animal carcasses tainted with the chemical as bait for the tigers. It is believed that the tigers die within an hour of eating the contaminated carcass. The poachers then sell the highly profitable tiger remains, incl. the skins, teeth, bones, & claws, to Chinese & Tibetan merchants. Cal M. http://www.care2.com/news/member/193692282/3621136

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE AND TIGERS - For more than 1,000 years the use of tiger parts has been included in the traditional Chinese medicine regimen. Because of the tiger's strength and mythical power, the Chinese culture believes that the tiger has medicinal qualities, which helps treat chronic ailments, cure disease and replenish the body's essential energy. Endangered tiger parts such as bones, eyes, whiskers and teeth are used to treat ailments and disease ranging from insomnia and malaria, to meningitis and bad skin. Chinese texts state that the active ingredients in tiger bone; calcium and protein, which help promote healing, have anti-inflammatory properties. Western medical experts tend to discount all claims of any curative power in tiger bone, as they do the rhinoceros horn, another popular Chinese medicine. And, it is well known that aspirin contains similar properties and produces the many of the same results as tiger prescriptions in patients. Despite this, in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam and in Chinatowns across Europe and North America, Chinese medicine stores do a steady trade in tiger wines, powder, tiger balms and tiger pills. Many Asian communities believe that tiger bone, in powdered form or prepared as, "tiger wine," soothes rheumatic pain and cures ulcers, malaria and burns. These derivatives make international trade and consumption possible in the wake of the, Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITE treaty because they are not easily recognizable as tiger parts. In recent years there has also been a resurgence of interest in traditional values and cures derived from nature in Chinese culture. Thus, the use of endangered tiger parts for medicinal properties is seen as a status symbol, a way to retain customs amid rapid change and as an alternative to the shortcomings of western medicine. The Chinese culture believes that nearly all parts of the tiger can be used to derive some medicinal cure for any number of ailments. Here are some examples of how tiger parts and their derivatives are used in traditional Chinese medicine and causing the tiger to be a critically endangered species.
