New Petition: The bloody products from the house of Unilever https://www.rainforest-rescue.org/mailalert Repeated Violences in PalmOil production in Indonesia: People driven off their land, Rainforests they depend on give way to giant PalmOil plantations. Who resists is intimidated, arrested or held at gunpoint. Wilmar Int.l: one of the worst PalmOil Cos., the world’s biggest, operates plantations in Sumatra&Borneo (600.000 Hectares), notorious for IllegalLogging&Human Rights violations. At 1,3 MillionTons/year, Unilever is 1 of the world’s biggest PalmOil processors: almost every Unilever product contains PalmOil. Wilmar Int.l is one of its major suppliers. How many people in Indonesia will have to fear for their safety, before Unilever admits its responsibility?
Signed. Thanks Michela.
Classic behaviour from these huge corporations. They act is if they are above the law, which in fact is true.
Is there a government in Indonesia ?
All around the world governments, whether dictatorship or "democracy", act the same. Mere pawns in the hands of the corporate giants.
I seem to remember a story about David and Goliath. If only !
we are living in a world where money is power. Power to walk all over everyone else, power to pollute the planet, take habitat away from animals leaving them homeless, destroying vital forests, and even murdering and abusing people, all this should be illegal, should be punishable with severity and would be if it were you or I, but Hey! it seems the government and legal systems don't mind if these crimes are committed by the elite, those elite big money earners and big tax payers, the big companies, who undeniably can over-rule any legality and plunder to the hearts content with no shame and no worry about being stopped or being reported or being punished.
To Hell with them all!!! We will fight them and fight them because we have to! We must!
But what is the point sending a petition to the very abusers themselves? Surely we should be sending a petition to the President and anyone else with enough power to intervene and make it known that big companies doing so much harm simply cannot be allowed to continue and that we demand action be taken immediately??!!
Thank you for posting in the group, Michella. I asked one of news media in Indonesia about this issue. I really want to know the truth. I hope they have their attention on this issue.
Signed. Wow I am getting such a reality check. I just never had any idea how many products are still being made with palm oil.
Thank you MIchela, Bruce and Wendy Forster signed.
Michela M Thank you so much for your research about Palm Oil and for your concern about the health of everyone.
It is a great effort.
Signed & posted to FB.
Michela, if you can't send a green star cause you have already done so, we all know where your heart is dear.
Tried to sign again but it said I had already taken part in signing. Oh well, it was worth the try again.
I remember signing a petition directed towards Unilever a few years back against animal testing. Their response to that was to add me to their e-mail newsletter database in order to promote their products to me and they made it so hard for me to unsubscribe - they wanted my home address and telephone number before they would unsubscribe me (why do they need that to take me off an e-mail list?????), but I refused to give it to them and I gave their e-mail address to my e-mail provider and told them it was spam. I eventually stopped getting the newsletter, but the process took months. I hope the same thing doesn't happen again this time - I really don't trust Unilever and I don't want to be bombarded with their junk mail!
Already signed but shared again

Palm Oil - Environmental Impact
Its production has been documented as a cause of substantial and IRREVERSIBLE damage to the Natural Environment; impacts: Deforestation, Habitat loss of criticaly Endangered Species such as the Orangutan and Sumatran Tiger, (Java and Bali Tigers already EXTINCT), and a significant increase in Greenhouse Gas Emissions, contributing to Global Warming; very popular for Biofuel, but the environmental impact from growing large quantities of Oil Palms has called the use of Palm Oil into question. The Pollution is exacerbated because many Rainforests in Indonesia and Malaysia lie atop peat bogs that store great quantities of carbon that are released when the forests are cut down and the bogs drained to make way for plantations. Environmental Groups such as Greenpeace claim that the Deforestation caused by making way for Oil Palm plantations is far more damaging for the Climate than the benefits gained by switching to Biofuel.
If you haven't already, see this 2009 Greenpeace video to view the destruction of the rainforests and the impact this is having on the environment in Indonesia for the benefit of Unilever:
Palm oil: Cooking the Climate
Signed with hope for better future!

It's 5:34 a.m. here in Rome, but I'm still "working" for Endangered Species...sooner or later I should go to bed!!!
Gladly signed!!! Justice for the peoplein Sumatra and the orangutan. We all can do our part by not buying any Unilever products!!!!
Signed Thanks Michela for your dedication to this cause.
Petition gladly signed, 2 videos watched. The Unilever Co. should have the UN after them for all the destruction in Indonesia to the forests, rivers and endangerment of the Orangutans, other animals and fish. The people are now understanding that they were duped into giving up the land, and are realizing now just what has happed. IT HAS BEEN RAPED!! It has to be stopped, as soon there will be nothing left, except of course the bloody palm oil, which isn't even healthy!!!
Thank you for all your hard work in trying to save the Orangutans & their habitat, Michela!
Have already signed. I came across a documentary on YouTube
'GREEN (Palm Oil Deforestation) - Documentary by Patrick Rouxel'
It is a silent film (without narration, but with music) It is extremely
well done, although it is long, so watch it when you have time.
I thank you for all you are doing Michela.
Thank you Michela for the opp to add our meow to thie matters at hand. I signed the ones that were still open and watched all the videos that I had not watched. a great source of info all around. Kudos to all who have posted this very important info. The first thing in any cause is to get the info out there into thoughts.. and then thoughts become action, actions become habits, habits become character and character determines destiny. The destiny of the orangutans are intertwined with how much character humans will display for the cause. Hugs and purrs all around from Mr Tavi cat(shown here in my icon) and me
Hi RC W I love All animals I do LOVE the kitties, large and small ) ) ) This group is AWESOME!!! See you around and welcome Barb E(The Matrix Kitty) Hi Michela just noted and ckd these posts and so far all is complete :-0

Michela, I will never buy their soap or any products from them just as I also Boycott Procter & Gamble.
UNILEVER BRANDS LIST
160 million times a day, someone somewhere chooses a Unilever product.
Here are the brands they make so that you can avoid using them:
FOOD BRANDS: Bertolli, Becel, Flora, Country Crock, Blue Band, Hellmans, Rama, Wishbone, Dorianna, Knorr, Heartland, Lipton, Slim Fast.
HOME CARE BRANDS: Cif, Comfort, Domestos, Omo, Radiant, Sunlight, Surf
PERSONAL CARE BRANDS: Axe, Brylcreem, Dove, Fissan, Lifebuoy, Lux, Ponds, Radox, Rexona, Signal, Close-Up, Simple, St Ives, Sunsilk, Tresemme', Vaseline, VO5
I signed the latest and discovered I have 3 Unilever products in my home: Axe (husband), Dove (a gift from someone) and Lipton (had no idea that was Unilever). So it's so easy to be fooled.
Thanks for publishing the list.
HI EVERYBODY, JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW
UNILEVER IS COMING OUT WITH A NEW LINE OF SHAMPOOS.
THE LINE IS CALLED CLEAR.
SO YET ONE MORE UNILEVER BRAND PRODUCT TO AVOID.
Just signed under www.rainforest.rescue.org/mailalert which you have listed number one post above. Noted and signed the petition There were several other petitions there that I already had taken action on in the interests of our group.
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR WHAT YOU DO, MICHELA; IT'S SIMPLY EXTRAORDINARY.
What you do to help orangutans is incredible. In Brazil, local people were threatened by Texado. An old lady, a native, finally sued Texaco, which had already been responsible for the death of her husband and 2 of her children, and she ... won. Now the company has to pay billions of dollars to restore nature, animals ... If the same could happen in Indonesia, it would be fine. But local people - and orangutans - need help (like yours).
It's 5:40 a.m. here in Rome, but I'm still "working" for Endangered Species...sooner or later I should go to bed!!!
signed for all you do michela ♥
Noted and all signed. Shared on FB. Thanks
TY for the catchy music, Michela. It's so true.
Watched all 5. I find them heartbreaking and revolting.
Palm Oil - Health: Blood Lipid and Cholesterol Effects
The U.S. Center for Science in the Public Interest said Palm Oil promotes heart disease; Report cited Research going back to 1970; also said that The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, World Health Organization (WHO), and other Health Authorities urged reduced consumption of Palm Oil; WHO states that there is convincing evidence that palmitic acid consumption contributes to an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. A 2006 Study by the National Institute of Health and the USDA Agricultural Research Service concluded that it's not a safe substitute for partially hydrogenated fats (trans fats) in the Food Industry, as Palm Oil results in adverse changes in the blood concentrations of LDL Cholesterol and apolipoprotein B just as trans fat does.
I have plenty of obstination and courage, probably because I'm a Taurus! Courage: because ALL of these issues are very "UNCONFORTABLE" to these Corporations, Big Companies, Big Lobbies, Political Lobbies (PalmOil, Logging, IllegalTrade, FoodIndustry, Oil, Biofuel, PersonalCare, Timber, Pulpwood, etc) that I risk NOT TO FIND this Group anymore, nor my Care2 Account, as it already happened with FaceBook that DELETED my Account in May 2010!!! I entered Care2 Community thereafter, in June 2010
gladly signed Michela ♥ stopped using their products years ago..
2) Unilever: Stop Animal Testing https://www.change.org/petitions/unilever-stop-animal-testing-2# 3,853 Sign.- Each year about 5 million dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, monkeys, & other animals die in lethal dose tests performed in the U.S. During a lethal dose test, the experimental substance is forced into the animals throats, or is pumped into their stomachs by a tube, sometimes causing death by stomach rupture or from the sheer bulk of the chemical dosage. Substances are mixed in lab chows, injected under the skin, into a vein, or into the lining of the abdomen, they are often applied to the eyes, rectum & vagina or forcibly inhaled through a gas mask. Experimenters observe the animal's reaction which include convulsions, laboured breathing, diarrhea, constipation, skin eruptions, abnormal posture, & bleeding from the eyes, nose or mouth. According to statistics, 50% of these animals will die in this experiment 2 to 3 weeks later. These experiments are unnecessary as there exists cheaper, efficient & more realistic results that can be used instead of animals. Take a stand against the inhumane treatment met out by animals in medical research by signing this petition. You can make a difference~ If you don't care for animals- then who will?

3) New!! Pet.: Tell Lipton Tea to Stop Animal Experiments http://www.thepetitionsite.com/208/145/282/tell-lipton-tea-to-stop-animal-experiments/ Target: Unilever - Lyons & Lipton teas test their products on animals, which often die as a result, to make health claims on its products. Rabbits are fed a high-fat diet to increase their cholesterol levels & harden their arteries. Then, they were fed tea in their water. Little piglets were exposed to E-coli toxins to cause diarrhea. Then, the researchers cut the pigs intestines apart while the animals were still alive, to see the effects on the animal. The piglets were then killed. "Mutant Mice bred to suffer bowel inflammation were administered tea ingredients in order to see if there were any effects on their condition. After the test, the mice were killed by neck-breaking or suffocation". Numerous reports have called into question the tea company's use of animals & animal products in their teas, including possible blood being employed as a dye. Stop using animals as research. Experimenting on animals is not only cruel but also unnecessary. There are cheaper, quicker & more accurate methods available. Cher: http://www.care2.com/news/member/100041282/3468218
Since yesterday, there is NO opportunity to POST in Groups, except for the present plain TEXT to be written every time (not copied by a previously existing Text)!!! I'm really crazy about this!! Members continue sending Texts to be POSTED but I CANNOT do it!!! WHAT'S THE USE of having a Group (3,090 Members) if you CANNOT POST Petition Alerts nor News????
I don't want to utilize Care2 like Facebook: just for "chatting" & exchanging comments.. I AM HERE for a CAUSE - & I think a good Cause also for our children - this is why I go to bed at 4:30 - 5:30 a.m. ... For sure NOT for CHATTING or SPENDING TIME! This SHOULD BE the real difference between a Social Network (F & an Activist Network (Care2). WE SHOULD DO a PETITION to Care2 for this. Last March problems began with the INVITE FRIENDS Option NOT WORKING anymore!; Problems of SPACE editing a Post; NO PREVIEW Option when Posting, thus you have to Post several times before the right edited version appears; Problems to delete Archived Topics; Checking Login Information appearing every 2 mins.; Posts becoming always SLOWER to be VISIBLE; and NOW THIS!!! I'm really upset!!!! Being a "Taurus", I have a lot of patience & NEVER get angry, but at the end when it happens, also Horoscope says: "A Taurus becomes like an Elephant in a porcelain-ware shop!!. Hugs & Kisses michela
I think that I probably have signed on the actual websites, but getting my feet wet in the group...plodding along. The group process is all so new! I was delighted to see your post of 4 months ago which included your not wanting the group to be like Facebook. This is the first thing I've done that even smacks of 'social networking'. I appreciate the action focus. Thanks for the opportunity, Michela. Jude
Glad to Sign & Share these, Michela---Pray results will happen SOON!~
All caught up. Thank you, Dear Michela. I only pray one day they will stop testing on animals.
I've written some letters to such companies who tested on animals or take animals for entertainment.I get always the same answer,"we have nothing to do with it,or we have a doctor to support of the animal,or others are fault and so on.
Even we have 8 natural desasters this year alone, I counted on,but the greed people
don't wake up.I think they will wake up when it's too late for us.
THANK YOU GREEDY ASSHOLES!!
All the contents of ALL the Topics in this Group previous than some weeks ago have DISAPPEARED (this means back to 2010 & some Topics have disappeared entirely): i.e.: Petitions, Pictures, News, Info, Everything!!!!!!!! This means that my daily, constant, work until 4:30 - 5:00 a.m., was LOST!! This Group is the ONLY reason why I'm on Care2!!!!
The Care2 Support Center said that the posts in the Group Topics are too many.
This is why I deleted & I will continue deleting all the Posts just saying: “signed” to make room for the Petitions’ posts.
This is why I continue sending Warnings: Set Email preferences!! NOT to receive too many mails!! as for any other Group: go to Group Vitals (preferences)
Set: o Web only (you go there when you can)
But notwithstanding my continue requests & the Host Announcement warnings to set Email preferences, only in the last 2 days 18 Members unjoined Group!!! A very sad michela
4) New!! Pet.: Unilever: Stop using Palm Oil and all derivatives http://www.thepetitionsite.com/421/097/475/unilever-stop-using-palm-oil-and-all-derivatives/
I can CHOOSE to NOT support Unilever & other companies that are causing Deforestation. Unfortunately, Orangutans, & other animals that are going to go extinct in the wild if we continue on this path, don’t have a say in what happens to their environments. It’s up to us to keep them safe. I am giving up Unilever products & will spread the word so that others will also stop buying products made with Palm Oil. Unilever needs to discontinue the use of Palm Oil immediately with a responsible alternative. This cannot wait years, things need to change & it has to happen now!

News: Surging Demand for Vegetable Oil drives Rainforest Destruction Greenpeace reports targeting PT SMART, an Indonesia Palm Oil Giant owned by Sinar Mas & Golden Agri Resources (GAR), caused Unilever & Nestle — major Palm Oil buyers — to enact strict sourcing policies. These eventually led PT SMART to adopt a progressive policy that limits new Oil Palm development to lands with less than 35 tons of carbon & requires informed consent on the part of Communities that may be affected by new plantations. PT SMART was the first, & remains the only, Indonesian Palm Oil major to establish such a policy, which effectively mandates deforestation-free palm oil. Vegetable Oil demand grew by more than 5% annually over the past decade. To meet increased demand, large swathes of land have been converted for Rapeseed, Oil Palm, Sugar Cane, Corn, & Soy. Some of the area included carbon-dense Rainforest in Brazil, Malaysia, & Indonesia, a development that has alarmed Environmentalists, Scientists, & People who rely on Forests for subsistence. “It's important for Consumers to insist that companies ensure the products they sell are deforestation-free""If leading companies commit to using deforestation-free vegetable oil in their products, others will follow suit, curbing the rate of deforestation & Climate Change." Video: Indonesia's Orangutans struggle to survive PalmOil Companies killing the Endangered animals to preserve their plantations. In Borneo at least 4 PalmOil Co. employees suspected of killing the Endangered animals. The Critically Endangered Orangutans are losing their natural Habitat since more Forests being converted into PalmOil plantations. Indonesia: the world's largest producer of PalmOil in just a few years. The increasing conflict between the animals & the Cos. operating in the Forest can only be solved if the Gov.t is more serious about conservation. 75% of the remaining Orangutan population currently being trapped in plantations!!
Video: Orangutans await safe release in Indonesia Efforts to return the Orangutans to the wild in Borneo thwarted because 80% of their Natural Habitat was destroyed in the past 30 years: lack of safe Forests for them to return to!!. The release of more than 600 Orangutans into the Rainforest of Borneo has been postponed once again. The Indonesian Gov.t is convinced that all Orangutans can be released into the wild by 2015.
Video: Indonesia's Orangutans under threat The destruction of the world's Rainforests has been under discussion at a Summit in the Rep. of Congo. Among the Species threatened by Deforestation are Indonesia's Orangutans, which are among the most well-known victims of Deforestation. However, a plan to release more than 600 of these Primates back into the wild has been repeatedly delayed.
