Hey: Lets let the New York Post know how we feel about this!!!! http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/ny-post-columist-says-beaten-cat-deserved-to-die/ Thanks, Love Animals Too
Signed and shared. This woman is a horrible animal hating scum.No decent person would say or think something like that
Signed and shared. Her remarks are typical of an abuser, herself.
Signed. She needs the beating not the poor cat.
What I find very disturbing in this sorry saga is why the owner of the murdered cat Norman LEFT HIM BEHIND IN HER APARTMENT when she ran out of it to get away from her drunken, enraged boyfriend!!! How could she abandon a defenceless animal? Moreover, a cat she claims that she adored? She stated in Court that she felt certain that the cat would run out of the flat after her. However, Norman the cat did not. He stayed behind, she saved herself, and her cat was murdered! The man had already attacked the cat once by dunking him in water - trying to drown him, maybe? - on one occasion when she returned home to find the soaking wet cat hissing at and cowering away from the man.
First of all, why was she still dating this violent nut case after he had already attacked her cat once.
Knowing that her crazy boyfriend had attacked the cat before, she should have grabbed Norman on her way out the door (note that she took the time to grab her purse) or stayed there and defended him no matter what. I do not for one minute believe her story that she thought the cat would run out of the apartment after her. She just wanted to save herself regardless of what happened to Norman. If anyone threatened my sweet gerbils, I would defend them with my last breath.
If it had been my cat I would not have left him behind even if I to hit him between the eyes with a frying pan. Nobody messes with my pets.
I signed the petition with the message that it unfortunate that she cannot be sentenced to the same fate as the poor cat and that she should be immediately terminated by the newspaper.
I agree with you who are commenting on leaving her cat with the abuser, and continuing contact with the abuser after he allegedly tormented or possibly attempted to kill the cat in the past.
(Did she declaw her adored cat? How many declawers adore their cats?)
Petition gladly signed, thank you! This sicko personifies what is wrong with our violent, selfish society. She needs to be fired and chucked into a Black Hole. I also agree with you all that the owner's selfish treatment and abandonment of her own cat is highly disturbing and saddening. But hey, this is a country where dozens of babies die every summer in blazing hot cars while people go shopping...because they just "forgot" to take them out. The treatment of helpless beings, both human and animal, disturbs and angers me to no end. Wish there was something more we could do...but these petitions at least don't give these abusive people a platform in a newspaper--that is unconscionable.
Marilyn M. - Yes, I did notice that she had the wit and also took the time to find and to grab her handbag (British English for "purse"). Obviously, this was her most prized asset!
Anne K. - I did note that the poor, wretched cat Norman had been declawed. This is a vile, barbaric procedure that is quite rightly illegal here in Britain. No British vet will carry out this abusive surgery on a cat.
Hattie W. - Good for you! That's the spirit! If more women took that line maybe there would be fewer abused pets and children!!!
How did this paper allow this insulting columnist post such insults, besides the calling a dead cat stupid, she calls animal lovers freaks and insults. It is a crime to commit animal cruelty, and she shows how "above the rest" she feels when you let her poublish such opinions and insults. You should FIRE her behind!
I think her career is over! Lots of people love animals and will think she is crazy. And she is!
I am an animal lover and I am proud of it. What she thinks of me does not matter in the least. I hope they fire her, she don't need to write for anything.
She has the same open mouth insert foot complex as Obama. She should have kept her opinion to herself.
signed earlier this week.
