Lenicka, I didn't know that fact about Albert Schweitzer.
So ... awkward ... it starts now to bug me ...
All actions taken. Thank you Monika, Anneke and Lenicka, of course.
Emails sent and petition signed. Thank you dear Anneke .
I never knew that University laboratories have so many sponsors.
We sent already a lot of letters to sponsors from the University of Florida.
I hope that all the letters wake up the sponsors and let them think about of what they are sponsoring. If they stop with sponsoring , then there will be a begin of ending ,of this horrible and gruesome torturing of animals.

Please take action! Cruelty: Air France flies Primates, caught in the wild, to Experimentation Labs! Copy and paste from the first page!
Its hard to believe, but now we inform Blockbuster/Dish and its affiliates about what their exorbitant donations to the University of Florida buys- primate torture and archaic frankenscience. We want them to know they are absolutely compliant in hurting primates if they continue funding UF primate torture. Tell Blockbuster/Dish NO MORE DONATIONS TO UF until primate testing is banned!!
It has come to my attention that the University of Florida Foundation donors are responsible for providing $3.2 BILLION in support of UF and as we know they spend it on primate torture. Unbelievably, these donors include corporations who state they act to benefit society; Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation, National Geographic Society, The Humane Society of the United States, PetSmart, The NASCAR Foundation and Anheuser-Busch most recently famous for formally denouncing the horrible and cruel event SnapperFest, saying they love and respect all animals. These giant corporations are hemorrhaging money into UFs Death Camp and they need to be held accountable for what their money funds!!!
Primates are imprisoned in the University of Florida labs, poisoned, sickened, and killed when alternatives are available. Among 1000s of other animals, more than 200 are forced to endure painful experiments without anesthesia. UF has lost a lawsuit to animal rights activists and the vet records of agony and torture are now being made public.

Every time when I sign a petition against endotracheal intubation , mostly done on kittens , I think of all the hundreds of quotes from Albert Schweitzer about animal welfare , etc.
The fact is that he actually did this himself , on kittens , to learn his students the endotracheal intubation practice. Since I know this , I can never see a quote of him, without thinking on this.
Vivisection is horrible, every facet of it , and anyone who is able to do that, is in my eyes an animal abuser.

Subject; The welfare of animals used in the development of your products
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am concerned about the welfare of animals used in the development of your products. I understand
that both AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline severed ties with Huntingdon Life Sciences (HL
after an investigation exposed routine animal abuse inside the research facility.
Your good faith in Huntingdon's promise to "clean up its act" led you to renew your contract. Sadly, abuse remains the norm at HLS. As recently as 2008, a published report about primate trafficking across South America and Asia described wild-caught monkeys squashed in cages for 30-hour treks
to Huntingdon Life Sciences in Cambridgeshire.
Inside the primate unit, an undercover worker saw restrained monkeys forcibly overdosed on test materials via tube or inhalation. He recorded animals in filthy cages who “went crazy,” gnawing fingers and toes to the bone. One primate was tube fed after self-inflicted wounds left her face in shreds. The investigator counted 217 monkeys killed in just five studies for customers such as GlaxoSmithKline and AstraZeneca.
I respectfully ask you to re-join the global list of customers, suppliers and financiers who dropped HLS after learning about the lab’s habitual abuse, falsification of test data, sloppy protocol, and employee misconduct.
Evidence from seven investigations over 12 years has exposed Huntingdon for multiple breaches of the U.S. Animal Welfare Act, the arrest of workers on animal cruelty charges, more than 520 infringements of Good Laboratory Practice in England, and a $50,000 payoff to the U.S. Agriculture
Department for misstated records and animal welfare violations.
In 2005, two former HLS workers testified that animals were insufficiently anesthetized before
invasive procedures, such as painful extraction of bone marrow from the chest bone. Workers transferred blood into the wrong tubes. One “would go in and out about five times with the same needle, not hitting the vein," the past employee maintained. "I saw co-workers grab [dogs] by the scruff, shout and swear at them, swing them by the scruff and slap them."
Many labs now meet testing criterion with non-animal methods that yield data more relevant to human health. HLS, on the other hand, abuses animals for invalid and redundant experiments.
I urge you to permanently terminate all business with Huntingdon Life Sciences.
Thank you for your valuable time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Dear Sir, dear Madam:
You should know that candymaker Mars, Inc,. creator of M&M's, Snickers, Twix, Dove, Three Musketeers, Starburst, Skittles, and their candies, funds deadly animal tests, even though there are more reliable human studies and not one of the tests is required by law.
Mars has also funded cruel experiments in which mice were fed a candy ingredient and forced to swim in a pool of a water mixed with white paint.
There is no justification for these cruel experiments.
Stop unnecessary animal experiments!

Subject: Elimar/HLS
Dear Sir, dear Madam:
It has come to my attention that your company, Elimar Pigeon Services are
supplying lab equipment to Huntingdon Life Sciences (HL
.
You may not be aware but HLS are the world's most exposed and notorious animal
testing facility. They were caught on film punching beagle puppies in the face
and cutting open primates without any anaesthetic. If you are in any doubt
about what goes on inside the secret labs of HLS, then please read in their
own words what workers have to say and see footage filmed inside the lab:
www.shac.net/HLS/exposed.html
I am sure you will agree that what goes on inside HLS is shameful. You should
also be aware that HLS have been shown on many occasions to falsify data.
I urge Elimar Pigeon Services to stop dealing with a lab involved in such
horrific animal abuse and not to profit from the despicable cruelty at HLS.
Please turn your back on animal suffering, shoddy work and law breaking. Until
you do, you will be a target for protests and a campaign against your
involvement with HLS.

Thank you Monika, up to date.
Good morning Monika and Happy World Animal Day!
"Started in 1931 in Florence Italy, World Animal Day originally began as a tribute to Francis of Assisi, known as the patron saint of animals. Stories of St. Francis recount him preaching to his "sisters the birds" and taming the wolf, saying "brother wolf, I would like to make peace between you and the people."
Today, people of all faiths observe this day with Blessing of the Animals events, at which each animal, whether dog, horse, bird, or guinea pig, is presented and prayers are offered for animals everywhere. Your local newspaper may have listings for 'Blessing' events this weekend.
To celebrate World Animal Day, we are happy to share a lovely and insightful article about faith and animals by former AV Magazine editor B.G. Kelley. We congratulate Bill for his nomination earlier this year for a Genesis Award, and thank him for all he has done for the animals.

Subject: University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW)
Sir, Madam:
For decades, experimenters at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW)
have been conducting cruel and useless taxpayer-funded sound
localization studies in which cats have steel coils implanted in
their eyes, holes drilled into their skulls, and electrodes implanted
in their brains. Sometimes, cats used in this experiment have had
their ears cut off or are intentionally deafened by having a toxic
chemical applied to their inner ear. The cats are then deprived of
food for several days in order to coerce them to look in the direction
of sounds during experimental sessions in which their heads are
immobilized by a bolt screwed into their skulls.
Internal UW documents and photographs detail the miserable life and death of one of the
cats, a gentle tabby named Double Trouble, who was abused and killed in this barbaric experiment.
In one instance, Double Trouble woke up while experimenters were cutting into her head.
Following a series of invasive surgeries, she developed infections, became lethargic and
depressed, started to twitch, and suffered paralysis in half her face.
After UW deemed the experiment a failure, the experimenters killed and
decapitated Double Trouble so that they could examine her brain.
Experimenters have justified the use of 30 cats like Double Trouble
per year in this cruel project not by saying that it would enhance human health but by stating that they needed to
KEEP UP A PRODUCTIVE PUBLICATION RECORD THAT ENSURES OUR CONSTANT FUNDING..." !!!!!!!
Shockingly, the federal government continues to support this
irrelevant and deadly project and has provided UW with more than $3 MILLION IN GRANT TO ABUSE ANIMALS!
even though researchers at other institutions around the world are already using modern methods
with human volunteers to investigate how the brain locates and processes sound. Which will give the correct results.
Disciplinary actions against UW for violations of federal animal welfare laws should follow.
We urge you to cut funding for those cruel, sadistic, deadly projects!
Sincerely:

Subject: US/Experiments/domestic acts and dogs
USDA Animal Care Division

To whom it concerns,
Domestic cats and dogs are the first choice for experimental subjects,
as their previous treatment has made them "tractable" and trusting, and they are
more easily-handled as lab animals.
Cats in particular are targeted, as their highly-developed nervous
system makes them ideal subjects for research into the human nervous
system and brain function.
It is bad enough that ANY animal is put through what is from its point
of view inexplicable torment - how much worse for a creature that has
been raised with love and trust, to think of itself as safe with
humans, to be subjected to this sort of betrayal.
Legislation at all levels is needed to prevent research institutes
from harvesting animals from shelters and unsuspecting owners who must
give up their pets for whatever reason.
"Full Disclosure", as is required from members of the police and
press, is one important component.
Legal sanctions against both researchers and shelters who turn animals
over to them even though aware of their intended purpose need to be
emplaced.
Knowingly condemning a pet animal to existence in a laboratory as an
experimental animal is no less abuse than if the person who sent or
brought it there performed the torture themselves...and should be
legally treated as such. It has to be stopped!
