WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — A new poll reveals that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the most popular national figure among American voters.

The Quinnipiac University national poll released Friday shows that Clinton enjoys a 61 percent favorability rating, 10 points higher than President Barack Obama.

“Hillary Clinton ends her term as Secretary of State and the bruising inquiry into the Benghazi murders as easily the most popular actor on the American political stage today,” Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, said in a press release.

Obama’s job approval rating tumbled to 46 percent compared to 53 percent in December.

“The difference in favorability ratings for the two leaders lies in Clinton’s ability to win thumbs up from many more independent voters and Republicans than does the president,” Brown said. “The lower approval numbers for the president could be because once the election afterglow is gone, governing inevitably requires decisions that make some voters unhappy.”

Forty-nine percent of those surveyed approved John Kerry taking over for Clinton.

The Quinnipiac poll also found that a majority of Americans are not happy with the way the country is going. Sixty-eight percent of American voters are “somewhat” to “very dissatisfied” with the way things are going, while only 31 percent are satisfied.

The poll was conducted from Jan. 30 to Feb. 4 with 1,772 registered voters.

Interesting Diane.  I don't see her as more popular among all voters; only more popular among women and the Democratic men maybe.  She is going to have a tough time as if the Republicans are smart, they need to go after her involvement in Benghazi, her involvement in the support of the UN's position on guns and gun manufacturers as that will get the NRA and it's membership down on her in a huge way; she has a lot of hurdles so I am not sure she is as electable, by any means, as she was in 2008 and we know that the right person against her stopped her cold.  There are others in the Democratic Party eyeing the 2016 and so she will have opposition and how they play it could make it tough for her.

Realize this is my opinion and a lot of you see her as a stronger candidate and you could be right; I just think she has some ghosts now and added to the ones she had before and it will not be as easy.  One thing I do know as she wants to rid herself of the Obama image; and here she made another mistake.  That last little buddy/buddy with him a few weeks ago and their "show of congenial relationship" very well could be what I call a "Bush" for her; we know what it did to McCain and the Republicans in 2008; it could be a plus for Repubicans in 2016; she is too Obama, she is too close to Obama, etc.  In truth, she is.

I believe Hillary's out of control Benghazi performance laced with her fake "we're the best of friends" appearance on 60 minutes is what this article is targeting.   Hillary certainly isn't popular among the republicans that's for certain.

I believe Hillary will lose if she runs.   It's time to cut the bait bucket on the Clinton's.

I do agree Diane.  By the way, I think she has been spending too much time with Michelle and they both need a new hairdresser; in fact, they need makeovers badly.  Wonder if the people that do "What Not To Wear" could help them; they would have to relinquish their entire wardrobes and only get $5000 to buy a new one, but hey, that is quite a treat for most people and they would learn what it is like to be "one of us".

Linda.....If she receives the "Academy Award" for her appearence before the Senate Committee on Benghazi and she has to walk the red carpet she'd better find one h*** of a dressmaker - right now she needs a tent!

I wonder how female voters will feel about a woman who always seems to get done in by some guy.  First Willie and now Obama!  That's not a strong woman - that's a used woman.

I think that she and Barack need to receive the Academy Award for best performance by an amateur actor and actress in a media role;what do you think?  That interview with both of them was so touching.  Love Leno's take on it, that is the best and he deserves the Academy Award for a documentary.

The Senate Commitee hearings on Benghazi were a big FARCE. If you read between the lines no one was after the truth, that hearing had gag order written all over it and they were all just following protocol just to satisfy the public.

The truth why 4 Americans were left to die will be known only to the White House and their puppets. The Freedom of Information Act is not worth the paper its written on.
