Following President Obama’s lunch meeting with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill, Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins described the food served and said the president was not able to eat since his “taster” was not present.
“University of Maine recipe for healthy lobster salad — I pointed that out to the president in keeping with the first lady’s initiatives and Fox Family Potato Chips made in Aroostook County where I’m from and wild blueberry pie full of anti-oxidants, see this was a healthy lunch as well. We did have a little ice cream on the pie too, also made in Maine, Gifford’s Ice Cream. So in all seriousness this was well received,” Collins told reporters on Thursday after the meeting at the Capitol.
“Unfortunately, you know, the president can’t,” said Collins when asked if Obama ate at the lunch meeting.
“He looked longingly at it,” Collins continued. “He honestly did look longingly at it, but apparently he has to have essentially a taster, and I pointed out to him that we were all tasters for him, that if the food had been poisoned all of us would have keeled over so, but he did look longingly at it and he remarked that we have far better food than the Democrats do, and I said that was because I was hosting.”

Too bad Moochelle wasn't there. She would have gobbled it up to assure BO .
This is very telling in the regal persona and huge ego of King Barack the Worst. This guy is a real piece of work! Never heard of any other POTUS with a "food taster" or who made such a big deal of it. It has the ring of Reminiscence Italy city states and their leaders at their worse. Wonder who "tastes" his food when he makes one of his media trips to the local burger place or another commercial establishment when "toasting" a foreign dignitary or when he is campaigning at the local mom and pop place. Really it was a direct insult to the GOP Legislative Branch members present and was designed to be such except Collins was too stupid to realize it!
John, I missed where you think Collins was too stupid; she knew what was happening and turned it back on him. "...I pointed out to him that we were all tasters for him, that if the food had been poisoned all of us would have keeled over so, but he did look longingly at it and he remarked that we have far better food than the Democrats do, and I said that was because I was hosting.”
He was the one that was too stupid as he didn't get her slam right back at him.
Who in the name of Aunt Mazie's marbles would want to be a taster?
I guess Obama must realize that there are a bunch of people who really dislike his arse. Otherwise he wouldn't be so afraid to partake of the repast.
Yes, who is the idiot who volunteered for the job? Does Queen Michelle have one, too?
"Keeping in line with policy discretion, the U.S. Secret Service always has refused to confirm the presence of a “food taster” to the president."

Linda C: You're right. Perhaps the phrase shouldn't have been stupid but too polite to really slam him with the comment like: "Do you dislike us Republicans so much that you are hinting that we would poison you?". It did require a more forceful comment to Dear Leader when he pulled that stunt! He is the type of demagogue that you have to get directly in his face on these things to make a strong point and show him who really is the one who understands the situation. That comment of his was so way out of line that it deserved as discourteous a response as the comment itself. He is one very nasty piece of work and the GOP needs to give it back to him in all cases nor does he as an individual deserve any respect in cases like this despite his position since he has demeaned that position. Once again he has proven to be totally unfit for the office in attitude as well as competence.
We are on the same page here John. I do understand your point and you are so right. I wonder if it is that he doesn't see what is said or that he refuses, in his sociopathic condition to admit that he has any faults; he does not and will never see that he can be wrong about anything. I have an ex son-in-law that has this same problem and it really leads me to think that with Obama it is much more than simple narcissism; this man simply does not acknowledge that he is ever wrong; he sees everything from his point of view or reality and the unfortunate part is that he is the only one living in that reality. Very sick peson is one Obama.
Ladies and gentlemen: This is the narcissist Obama. The little emperor....
I do believe most presidents have had a "taster", however this shows the ineptness of this administration to not have prepared in advance. This could not have been an impromptu situation therefore whoever made the arrangements for travel, etc. should have included the taster. Either that or it was another ploy for sympathy to divert attention from important matters.
Margaret: Sorry, but I think was a deliberate snub by King Barack the Worst and a message of contempt toward the House GOP! This is the clown who "drops in" at places in DC for a snack and places on the campaign trail.
JohnC, you are right on with that statement. How many times has Obama stopped in Ben's Chili Bowl, or some burger joint here in Old Town Alexandria and DC? Did he have his taster with him then? I don't think so. Plus, even if he had "taster" how long does someone havae to wait to see if they fall flat on their face? Hours? LOL!
Well, it is true. He does have a food taster and that person tastes his food whenever he eats outside the White House. It is usually one of his chefs that travels with him. The food is tasted in the kitchen before it is served to him. Also, the Secret Service supervises all meals prepared for him in and out of the White House as well to see it is not tampered with at all.
Ronald Reagon and Bill Clinton had tasters, too. Other presidents have but could not find a list to see if all or which ones in particular.
It has been a well kept secret, apparently, until now. LOL Good for the GOP to have made it public, why not?
I do know that Bush Sr., when he visited Spokane and ate at Patsy Clark's Restaurant did not have a taster and they actually prepared a steak for him and named it for him. He enjoys steak like most Texans. LOL
Guess I got a little carried away, huh? Bless George W. Bush. honest to God he is a true patriot.
Didn't Bush Sr have a problem in Japan with barfing during a meal? No taster or what?
If I was offered the job as a taster. They would have to pay me many monies - so my family would be taken care of after my demise.
As a matter of fact John he did barf in Japan. Is the taster still alive?
