Revolution in the future? How about Revivalution?

A survey of 863 registered voters conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University in April indicated that 29% of Americans think that an armed revolution in order to protect liberties might be necessary in the next few years. Some 18% of Democrats think an armed revolution may be necessary, compared with 44% of Republicans and 27% of independents. Fairleigh's analysis, however, did not take this a step further. Of those who were asked the question, "In the next few years, an armed revolution might be necessary in order to protect our liberties," 19% refused to answer or did not have an opinion. Adjusting for these, almost 36% of Americans believe an armed revolution might be necessary.

Whether it is 29% or 36%, that is a huge number of people who believe an armed revolution may be necessary. Who would have thought of even asking such a question even 15 years ago? One might say that the numbers are heavily weighted toward Republicans and Independents, and they are, but when you consider almost one in five Democrats surveyed believe an armed revolution might be necessary, that is a huge number given their normal stance favoring more government and less Constitutional rights. The lack of trust for this government goes so deep that of those that had an opinion, 37% believed the government was hiding the truth about the Sandy Hook shootings.

What is even more interesting about this poll is that the sampling was heavily weighed toward registered voters who were Democrat (45%) with Republicans underrepresented at 35% and independents at 15%. The numbers of people who may think an armed revolution is necessary to protect our rights from this government quite possibly would be far higher if the poll sampling reflected the true political registrations of the country. In the last presidential election, the majority of pollsters peg actual registrations at roughly 38% Democratic, 36% Republican and 26% independent. A more representative sampling of registered voters may have resulted in even more people thinking revolution was necessary.

The communists believe that they could mount a successful armed overthrow of a government with support of just 5% of the population. Psalm 33:12 says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." A 2012 Pew Forum poll indicated that 73% of Americans consider themselves Christians. Imagine the change in our nation if all true Bible-believing Christians actually worked to revive and restore the one true God as the head of households. This evangelical power would be reflected in our nation's leadership, and Biblical principals of responsibility and accountability would be instituted. Rights would automatically be protected. There would be sound fiscal policy. This nation would survive without violent revolution. Revivalution is what we need.
