“Your Worrying Is Paralyzing Your Faith”

by sysministriesinc

Depending on context, words translated as “cares” and “concerns” or “fear” and “anxiety” can be either right or wrong attitudes in a Christian’s life.

For instance, “FEAR” is right when it is Reverence toward God because of His Holiness: Isaiah 8:13, “The LORD of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him Be Your FEAR, And let Him be your dread.” NKJV);

And "CARE/CONCERN" is good when showing concern for others: (1 Corinthians 12:25, “that there should be no schism in the body, but that The Members Should Have The Same CARE For One Another” (NKJV; 2 Corinthians 11:28, “besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: My Deep CONCERN For All The Churches.” (NKJV).

However, “WORRY” Is ALWAYS WRONG, for it Paralyzes Active Faith in your life!

When you Worry, You Assume Responsibility For Things You Were Never Intended to Handle!

Jesus Repeatedly Taught: “Do Not Worry” (Greek "Merimneo", literally “To Divide the Mind&rdquo, even about the basic essentials of life (Matthew 6:25-34, “If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, CARELESS IN THE CARE OF GOD. And you count far more to him than birds. “Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. “If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. DON’T WORRY ABOUT MISSING OUT. YOU’LL FIND ALL YOUR EVERYDAY HUMAN CONCERNS WILL BE MET. “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” MSG).

Worry Divides Your Mind Between Useful and Hurtful Thinking:"If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberallyand ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.Only it must be IN FAITH that he asks with NO WAVERING (NO HESITATING, NO DOUBTING). For the one who WAVERS (HESITATES, DOUBT is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind. For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord,[For being as he is] A MAN OF TWO MINDS (HESITATING, DUBIOUS, IRRESOLUTE), [HE IS] UNSTABLE AND UNREALIABLE AND UNCERTAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING  [HE THINKS, FEELS, DECIDES]" (James 1:5-8 AMP)

Worrying does not change anything (Matthew 6:27, “And who of you BY WORRYING and BEING ANXIOUS can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life?” AMP)

Worry Only Draws Your Focus Away From God and His Faithfu

Worry Only Draws Your Focus Away From God and His Faithfulness and Righteousness to concerns about the things of life, such as possessions and material goods (Matthew 6:31, “Therefore DO NOT WORRY AND BE ANXIOUS, saying, What are we going to have to eat? Or, What are we going to have to drink? Or, What are we going to have to wear?” AMP).

Worry is a Choking, Harmful Emotion that Saps Your Energy and Elevates Human Strength and Ingenuity Above God’s Strength and His Purposeful Plan.

Sources of Worry include change, lack of understanding, and lack of control over your life.

Worry opens the door to worldliness, that is, preoccupation with the things of this life.  Which Is Why It's So Important You Remember: This Is Not Your Permanent Residence, You’re Just a Temporary Tenant! “These people all died controlled and sustained by their faith, but not having received the tangible fulfillment of [God’s] promises, only having seen it and greeted it from a great distance by faith, and all the while acknowledging and confessing that they were STRANGERS AND TEMPORARY RESIDENTS AND EXILES UPON THE EARTH.” (Hebrews 11:13 AMP) “Beloved, I implore you as ALIENS AND STRANGERS AND EXILES [IN THIS WORLD] to abstain from the sensual urges (the evil desires, the passions of the flesh, your lower nature) that wage war against the soul” (1 Peter 2:11 AMP)

Though the children of Israel had watched God split open the Red Sea to deliver them from Egypt, they could not believe He would provide water in the desert to meet their needs! Likewise, Worry Is The Opposite of Faith, suggesting that God cannot be trusted to take care of you or to provide what you need, Which Couldn't Be Further From the Truth: (Philippians 4:19, “And My God Shall Supply All Your Need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” NKJV); “And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your EVERY NEED according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (AMP); “You can be sure that God will TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING YOU NEED, His generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus.”(MSG)

Worry Causes Fear to Crowd Out Faith. Thus, in the final reckoning, The Cowardly” are listed alongside the “Unbelieving”: Revelation 21:8, “But the COWARDLY, UNBELIEVING, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars Shall Have Their Part In The Lake Which Burns With Fire and Brimstone, Which Is the Second Death.” NKJV).  “But as for the COWARDS and the ignoble and the contemptible and the CRAVENLY LACKING IN COURAGE and the COWARDLY SUBMISSIVE, and as for the UNBELIEVING AND FAITHLESS, and as for the depraved and defiled with abominations, and as for murderers and the lewd and adulterous and the practicers of magic arts and the idolaters (those who give supreme devotion to anyone or anything other than God) and all liars (those who knowingly convey untruth by word or deed)—[all of these shall have] their part in the lake that blazes with fire and brimstone. This is the second death.” (AMP); “But for the rest—the feckless and FAITHLESS, degenerates and murderers, sex peddlers and sorcerers, idolaters and all liars—for them it’s Lake Fire and Brimstone. Second death!” (MSG)

I Don’t Know About You, But Worry Sounds Pretty Dangerous To Me!

Linking Worry With Unbelief, Scripture gives direction for a return to Full Faith. The road from worry to faith begins with Recognition that Worry Is Sin and Confession of Lack of Faith: Psalm 139:23, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my ANXIETIES.” NKJVIt continues with Deliverance:Psalm 34:4, “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And DELIVERED ME FROM ALL MY FEARS” NKJVAnd finally ends with the Assurance that Absolutely Nothing Can Separate You From the Love God Who is the Great I AM: Romans 8:35, "Who shall Separate us from the Love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" The Message Bible says it like this: “None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing – nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable – absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us” (MSG); Exodus 3:14, "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you"The Amplified Bible says it like this: “And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM AND WHAT I AM, AND I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you!” (AMP

In place of anxious thoughts, You Then Freely Offer Thanksgiving From a Heart Established With Trust in God as All Sufficient: Psalm 112:7-8, He Shall Not Be Afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. His heart is Established, he shall Not Be Afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies"; The Amplified Bible says it like this: “He shall NOT BE AFRAID of evil tidings; his heart is firmly fixed, TRUSTING (LEANING ON AND BEING CONFIDENT) IN THE LORD. His heart is established and steady, HE WILL NOT BE AFRAID while he waits to see his desire established upon his adversaries” (AMP); Philippians 4:6-7, "Be Careful For Nothing; But In Every Thing By Prayer and Supplication With Thanksgiving Let Your Requests Be Made Known Unto God. And the Peace of God, Which Passeth All Understanding, Shall Keep Your Hearts and Minds Through Christ Jesus". The Amplified Bible says it like this: “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (AMP). And The Message Bible puts it like this: “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (MSG).

Anything Functioning Outside of Faith, Should Not Be Functioning At All In Your Life, and Worry Certainly Falls Under That Category!
