PROTECT ACCESS TO ABORTION ~ PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION
North Dakota passed the nation's most extreme abortion ban this week, and it's just one of 300 bills in states across the country aimed at turning back the clock on women's health. Make no mistake: our opponents want to overturn Roe v. Wade, despite the fact that 70 percent of Americans oppose overturning the decision. If you're part of that 70 percent, help us fight back today.
In states across the nation, anti-women's health lawmakers are doing everything they can to restrict women's access to abortion. Their ultimate goal is to take challenges to their extreme laws to the Supreme Court and try to overturn Roe v. Wade.
North Dakota is the latest, and it's the most severe threat to women's health yet. They just passed a rash of bills including the most extreme, and unconstitutional, ban on abortion in the country. Even Governor Jack Dalrymple admitted he has doubts about the law's constitutionality.
Opponents of women's health are going state by state to take away women's rights and access to health care, and they won't stop unless we stop them. This is one of those moments when we need everyone who supports women's access to health care, who stands with Planned Parenthood, to step up and speak out with one voice: enough is enough.
TAKE ACTION: TELL AG HOLDER: STOP MAKING EXCUSES. DO YOUR JOB. NOBODY IS TOO BIG TO JAIL.
When big banks are allowed to do whatever they want to make a quick buck, including illegally foreclosing on homes, laundering money for drug cartels, and selling assets they know to be toxic, they represent a clear and present danger to the economy. The idea that giving them immunity to prosecution is better for the economy is so wrong that it would be laughable if it wasn't so offensive.
Criminals need to be prosecuted -- nobody is too rich, too important, or too large to be given immunity.
Tell AG Eric Holder: "Mr. Attorney General do your job. Prosecute the criminal banks NOW."
TAKE ACTION: TELL SENATE DEMOCRATS: NO BACKGROUND CHECKS, NO DONATIONS
Four Democrats just voted against universal background checks for gun purchases because they're scared of the NRA -- including North Dakota's Heidi Heitkamp (pictured). Background checks are supported by more than 90% of Americans, and three of these Senators are up for re-election in 2014.
Send a strong (and blunt) message to the Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and the Chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), Senator Michael Bennet. We have just as much financial muscle as the NRA and the public on our side.
Tell the DNC and DSCC you won't donate a single penny to any Senator who opposes universal background checks for gun purchases. We're the activists, the Democratic base. We're the people who donate in elections, knock on doors, and get out the vote in tight elections. We're the difference on Election Day all around the country.
Take Action: They'Ve Worked for Us, It's Time We Work for Them!
At a time when America's unemployed veterans number near a million, we must focus on what we can do to put our former service members back to work. Our veterans are qualified, intelligent people who have honed their skills while serving our country. But many have trouble finding a niche of their own, where their expertise can be truly put to work.
We have to advocate for our veterans, creating jobs that meet both their experience and their needs. This means putting them to work in such areas like restoring our national parks and forests, civil service work, and in other arenas where America is lacking qualified and responsible workers.
The Veteran Jobs Corps Act of 2012 offered such a framework but failed to make it past the Senate. Tell Congress the time has come for a job bill that capitalizes on veteran skills, putting them back to work for America.
Thank you from a past military brat and a future military Mom!
TAKE ACTION: STOP BIG OIL FROM FRACKING UP CALIFORNIA: PLEASE SIGN
There are 47,000 active fracking sites currently operating in California with almost no regulation. Reports from around the country are chilling: poisoned drinking water, oil spills in residential neighborhoods, and now Exxon Mobil and Shell are targeting California's Monterey Shale. Demand Sacramento take action.
TAKE ACTION: STRIKE BACK AGAINST THE FLOOD OF MONEY IN AMERICAN POLITICS
Sign and send comments to the SEC supporting a rule change to require corporations to disclose political spending.
