Welcome!! February 23, 2005 12:40 PM

This group is still under construction.  What i would like to see it become is a place to list  ideas, activities, favorite books or songs that encourage children to gain appreciation for all of nature and learn how to love, repect, and preserve the land and animals that are an essential part of our existance.
Feel free to browse the topics, gather and use information, and share your own ideas, crafts or recipes.
Children our the future, we need to teach them well.

Hello everyone March 08, 2005 11:28 AM

Hello,  I think this group is an great idea!  I look forward to learning from you all.  I'm married mother of one beautiful independent three year old girl named Kaia.  I also am in school for art education, and one day hope to be inspiring young people to lead creative environmentally conscious lives through art.  My favorite book that I read to my daughter is I Love You MOre, by Laura Duksta and Karen Keesler, it's a great message with beautiful artwork.  Talk more another time,  I have to add a profile picture soon...  Amy  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hello! My name is Sarah aka lokiwoman and I have 2 living kids ages 5 and 18 mos.
We are a very nature-oriented family! Heck, our entire front yard is a garden, half of the tha back is too! Plus we do a lot of walking through parks and my oldest almost always brings a trash bag on all our walks to pick up trash others have dropped. She gets pretty mad at people when they litter.
So yeah to Tree for starting this group!!!

hello, everyone! March 22, 2005 5:27 PM

I'm Jessica, self-employed single mother of Violet, my 19 month old daughter.  We live in beautiful Colorado, in an apartment surrounded by lots of concrete.  We go down to the river trails at least once a week and visit botanical gardens, butterfly house, etc., and I plan on camping a lot this summer.  I'm really looking forward to some new ideas on how to get nature and Mother Earth into our apartment-dwelling lives. Great group, Tree!

Hi, my name is kelly.  I am a stay at home mom of two little boys.  I want to share my strong connection with nature with my children and am very happy to see that there are others out there that feel the same way.  Lately, it seems that more and more people are so strongly agains any form of preservation of our environment and wildlife and I find it upsetting.  I try to stay informed and do what I can to preserve what is left of our untouched areas.  I try to live as closely to nature as I can to live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy meeting and discussing ways to do that with others.

Hi! I'm single mother of one precious daughter, Ariana, 5 yrs. I was browsing for a cozy place to share and felt an immediate affinity for this community. I hope to see it grow. I live in Texas--it's getting hot here these days, so we are swimming a lot--lucky to have a natural spring-fed pool nearby! The cutest story my daughter told me yesterday related how she & her friends tried to explain to a younger boy at her preschool that the tree he was hitting was a living creature. When he did not respond, they enlisted the help of a teacher. She went on to ask if glue was OK for trees, and suggested that maybe the lost bark could be glued back onto the tree. Absolutely precious how the young mind works!! I'm so proud of my little nature-lover! Please post your annecdotes    [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hello everyone! June 26, 2005 12:46 PM

I just joined this group and am excited to return to C2C after some time away ... I am 32, mom to Zane (2) and Frey & Ashton (4 months). I love the concept for this group and have only read the introductions so far--next will be all the other folders! We live in a small city in northern Idaho, two blocks from Lake Coeur d'Alene and the Spokane river. Every morning, I load the boys up and we walk and most afternoons find Zane playing in our back yard and the babies hanging out on a blanket, watching their big brother and the birds and clouds! I very much look forward to learning and sharing here. Happy belated solstice all! -Kirsten  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hi everyone July 15, 2005 3:49 PM

I'm a 41 year old married mom of 5.My kids are Kenny(26 yo),Neil(20 yo),Raichelle(13yo),B'Elanna(9yo,and Duncan(7yo).We've lived in a great many places around this country, and wherever we are, I make it a point to educate the kids on the environment in that area. They've seen mountains and seashores, desert and forest. They've also seen first-hand the damage caused by turning wild areas into concrete jungles.I try to make sure they know that all living things are intertwined.

When I saw this group, I felt that there was much we could learn from one another, towards making sure the next generation cares.

And Welcome to you as well Pacita Bear.

Things have been a little slow for the summer, but I'm hoping that's because we all have our little ones outside. I look forward to getting to know you both. Feel free to contribute as your heart desires.

Glad to have found this group!! August 08, 2005 3:16 PM

Hello!!  I'm so glad to have found this group.  I have a 16 month old that I hope will become a nature lover.  I take him outside for a little while almost every day.  He's just learning to walk, so now he can walk outside on the grass a little.  He loves rocks and sticks, so hopefully that's a good sign!!  Not long ago on our stroller ride around the yard we saw a praying mantis on a tree.  I look forward to many more such discoveries with him as he gets older.   [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Welcome August 09, 2005 9:28 AM

Welcome Meg and Andrea!! It's been a little slow around here, but I know I have been outside as much as possible lately!! Cooler out than in! We've been watching the hummingbirds , butterflies and frogs in the yard, swimming or just playing in the shade. It's been hotter than normal here. So by mid-afternoon we are in the pool..... Next week we are heading to OBX ( Outer Banks, NC ) for a weeks worth of sand and surf!  Hope you all are having a great summer!

Beautiful! August 26, 2005 7:57 AM

Hello to All!

A group that combines my two favorite things, children and nature!

My name is Stephanie and I have an 11 month old boy named Luke.  Every chance I have I'm outside with him.  In fact he's already gone tent camping twice this summer--breaking him early!

I nannied for 10 years for two boys;  I have a deep love and appreciation for children.  During those years I spent a good portion of my time in the woods... exploring the outdoors, throwing rocks into  creeks, stopping to notice the wild life around us...basically, nurturing & building their love of nature!  I can't wait until my son is fully able to share in my love of the outside!

Look forward to learning & sharing with you all...
~Stephanie

anonymous Awesome site! September 28, 2005 1:39 PM

I have two kids and would love to share ideas on how to make nature a big part of my family's life. We live in a small apt. in the city and I have just begun taking my kids for drives out in the country to look for wildlife, take pictures, and look for good places to hang out. The other day we seen a coyote run across a hay stubble field. My 12 yr. old daughter, armed w/ her own camera, was excited to see a real coyote for the first time. She hadn't loaded film in her camera yet and missed the shot....but we have next time to look forward to. Anyway, looking forward to being part of this site.  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

Hello!  I am Kelly, a soon-to-be-divorced mom of two children, 7 and 5.  I am excited to find this group!  I want my kids to love and understand the outdoors and their place in it.  Especailly my son, he's the 7-year-old, and he's afraid of bugs.  Even butterflies.   I'm working on it!  My daughter on the other hand LOVES anything animal or insect related.

I'm also hoping that my membership will encourage me to venture out of suburbia more often into the "wilds" of central Ohio.

Thx,

Kelly
