Hi everyone! I'd like to start a discussion topic for listing websites we've found that other knitters might be interested in. I know there are several posted in other discussions here too. Patterns, charity projects, yarn shops, etc.
Here's one that's new to me, where you can actually learn new stitches watching short video clips for knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, etc. They have free patterns too. Enjoy!
Hey, that's a great website Leslie! As a beginning knitter who is not a native speaker of English, I find it often difficult to find out how to do stitches. Very often I can't link the names to the dutch names I hear from my mother, so I can't ask her. Plus I don't know that much about knitting yet anyway.
The videoclips are very helpful!

Just found this one:
http://knitting.about.com/
looks interesting, in particular the explanation of the stitches seems useful if you want to be a bit more adventurous. (under the left side bar "essentials") I noticed there is something like a "thermal underwear stitch". Anybody heading for the northpole anytime soon?
I have not yet had a look at the free/ practice patterns, so I can't judge...

http://lionbrandyarn.com/ also has a wide selection o' free crochet and knitting patterns. Of course they are made with their yarn in mind, but you can easily make your own substitution.
