Hello November 23, 2004 4:08 AM

I'm new here...tried reading all that apply, but there are some arguments going on. I'd like to post something I believe is encouraging. Because I truly believe any alternative energy is good, even if expensive, except hygrogen energy, because producing it also produces more greenhouse gases. Anyway, here in Taos, New Mexico, the son of a guy who invented "Earthships" has created a business making bio diesel. His company goes around collecting all the used cooking oil from all the restaurants, and he uses alternate energy to manufacture the bio diesel. The city busses run on it, and there are quite a few citizens here who use it. He delivers the fuel, and he can sell it for $3. a gallon. Which, all things considered, isn't cheap as we are used to paying for gas, but it is a step toward freedom from gas. I realize there are drawbacks to all the processes, but remember, we just started getting really serious about all this. It promises to evolve and improve. Without these first steps, the improvment can't happen. There are gas stations in quite a few unexpected places that are now devoting a pump to bio diesel. ts  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
