Saturn Hybrids January 31, 2008 7:08 AM

I work for GM's Saturn division and I'm curious what this group thinks about Saturn's hybrid vehicles. We're currently offering the 4-cylinder Vue hybrid that get the best highway fuel economy (32 mpg - a 27% improvement) of any SUV and is the lowest priced hybrid SUV ($24,795). We also offer the same hybrid system in our Aura sedan. Earlier this month at the Detroit Auto Show, we debuted our 2009 Vue 2 Mode hybrid that will get a 50% increase in fuel economy. We also confirmed our plans to produce a plug-in Vue hybrid, possibly as soon as 2010. We expect to be the first major auto brand to offer a plug-in hybrid. This vehicle will likely be the most fuel effecient vehicle available. I expect that most of the hybrid enthusiast on this site drive the Prius, or mabye a Civic or Escape hybrid. Would you consider Saturn's hybrids for your next vehicle? Why or why not? I'd appreciate hearing from you! Mike Saturn Product Communications  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

For me - I drive a hybrid for the milage. I drive a Prius and get about 45mpg +. The Saturns don't come close to that. Good looking cars though!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
Vue Hybrid February 18, 2008 11:31 AM

Mike, I drive an '06 Civic Hybrid. I have about 42K miles on it. I've had tanks from 29-62MPG. My lifetime is 52.3 MPG. If the Vue plug in can do as well, and has more space - I would consider it. It also should be as reliable as most of the Jap imports are.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
I'd consider the Vue April 07, 2008 3:23 PM

I had the chance to drive a Vue a couple weeks ago when the car rental place ran out of compacts. The one they gave me was not a hybrid, but at least got my interest and gave me a frame of reference, so I looked it up on the web. As I see it the car has a few things going for it, compared to Ford's Escape or Mercury's Mariner. 1 - Price: 3 or 4,000 dollars less. 2 - Slightly better mileage on the highway - nowhere near the city mileage, but if I were using it more for road trips I'd be inclined to get the Vue. 3 - The web site wasn't clear on this, but it looks like the Vue Hybrid will tow a small trailer - Ford won't even sell you a trailer hitch with it's hybrids (I'm sure they'd rather sell you an F-150 or an Expedition). On the whole though, it's just way bigger than anything we would need right now (no kids and the family dog is a chihuahua - LOL). I'd be more inclined to get a MINI Cooper. As for the Aura, it seems to be comparable to a Nissan Altima 2.5 (non-hybrid), which comes with a 6 speed manual tranny - lots more fun to drive...  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
