As already documented here (http://www.heartofthewolf.org/IdahoTurnover.htm) Gale Norton has turned over management of Wolves over to Idaho. Idaho as already documented here also is already interested in hunting Wolves and is trying to get approval to hunt Wolves from her. It is revealed that the Idaho Fish and Game now wants to get approval to hunt 51 Wolves. They claim that hunting them will 'help' elk herds. http://www.localnews8.com/home/2186832.html This is nothing more than Idaho's resolve to destroy Wolves and the persistant hatred of Wolves. Wolves will not annihilate their primary food source. This is simply about those who hunt elk (which are hunted for fun by people) don't want Wolves to have their food. Greed by those who support the sadistic hunting of elk who don't want to see 'their' precious supply depleted by Wolves who actually need their fraction of the elk population for food. WHAT CAN YOU DO? 1) Contact Gale Norton (gale_norton@ios.doi.gov) and tell her not allow hunting of Wolves in Idaho. This is because with this new proposal, the threat to the Wolves in Idaho is more threatening than before. 2) Contact Idaho Fish and Game (http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/inc/contact.cfm) and tell them to stop this madness. Wolves do not need to be hunted. It is illogical and not proven that Wolves solely decimate their food supplies. This plan is the culmination of people who hunt Elk for fun and don't want Wolves to be able to feed on what they need to. They regard any loss of 'their' elk as a problem. Elk shouldn't be hunted by people and Wolves shouldn't be 'reduced.' 3) Contact Idaho Senators today and please get them to listen to reason. Get them to support the idea that these Wolves shouldn't be killed for the reasons above. They think that Wolves should be hunted and submitted in December a proposal to this effect. It is a group that is specializing in the 'reintroduction' of Mexican Wolves in Blue Range (in Arizona and New Mexico). It is a huge project which of course consists of the consortium of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Wildlife Services, APHIS, and more. Already, they are proposing outdated and ineffective means of non lethal methods: cracker shells and rubber bullets. And once again, this 'recovery' effort is going to allow the murder of Wolves in livestock issues in the words of the euphemism called control. Although these 'recommendations' won't even be ratified until 2007, we don't need to wait until Wolves die to take action. Already, Ron Gillett, of the Idaho Anti-Wolf Coalition wants all Wolves annihilated. The county known as Park has murdered 13 Wolves in the past year. http://www.helenair.com/articles/2005/12/16/helena/c02121605_02.txt This isn't the first time that this issue has arisen. http://www.heartofthewolf.org/ParkCounty.html It is even more disturbing since the contact information for Park County Predatory Animal Control Board and Craig Acres, district supervisor for the federal government’s Wildlife Services agency, cannot be found, at least on the web. One thus cannot contact both these parties and tell them that what is going on here is wrong. That non lethal methods can prevent these conflicts and that the murder of Wolves is not the answer. Which of course flags conspiracy. All parties here including the murderous Rod Krischke, state director of Wildlife Services have a role in this. Non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching (http://www.heartofthewolf.org/source.html) are being denied and not used to peacefully prevent livestock depredations by Wolves. All these parties know what is going on here, that they refuse to prevent conflicts and incite more by using murder to solves this issue where it has time and time again. WHAT CAN YOU DO? 1) First contact Commissioners Marie Fontaine (mfontaine@parkcounty.us) and Tim French (tfrench@parkcounty.us). They need to know that continued Wolf Murders are unacceptable. Non Lethal Methods and Predator Friendly Ranching practices work and that their implementation and education to the ranching populace would stop this situation peacefully. Since contact information with Craig Acres of APHIS/USDA/WS cannot be reaches along with the Park County Predatory Animal Control Board, they are the ones who have to hear this. 2) Rod Krischke had a hand in this considering he and the murderous Mike Jimenez of the USFWS in Wyoming work together and slaughter Wolves. He isn't concerned with the success of Wolves. If he did he wouldn't have participated in the 37 Wolf Murders in Wyoming that occured this year whcih 13 are in Park County! Greenwashing is when someone who commits and atrocity against the wild and tries to cover it up by claiming to do something ethical. In this article 'Screen wolf', she actually believes that although the Wolves were portrayed as evil in the film, that the big myth of the big bad wolf will be dispelled because he was a higly trained Wolf. Millions will see this film and see the Wolves as monsters. And since when did Wolves become dogs? I know most Wolf Sanctuaries out there, like Wolf Mountain Sanctuary thrive on educating the public and treating the Ambassador Wolves with respect, rather than making them like pets and saying it's a good Wolf so its okay to use it in a film as evil. This is greenwashing at its finest, and it is a shame that real Wolves have to be involved in this scheme. It is also hypocrisy. She didn't have to use the Wolf known as Maverick in the film. She could have educated the populace about Wolves without having him in the film as an evil monster. The founder Nancy Brown decided to use the Wolf in the film, despite knowing that the Wolf would be portrayed as evil. In this new article that has surfaced, she has pulled a tactic known as greenwashing. Greenwashing is when someone who commits and atrocity against the wild and tries to cover it up by claiming to do something ethical. In this article 'Screen wolf', she actually believes that although the Wolves were portrayed as evil in the film, that the big myth of the big bad wolf will be dispelled because he was a higly trained Wolf. Millions will see this film and see the Wolves as monsters. And since when did Wolves become dogs? I know most Wolf Sanctuaries out there, like Wolf Mountain Sanctuary thrive on educating the public and treating the Ambassador Wolves with respect, rather than making them like pets and saying it's a good Wolf so its okay to use it in a film as evil. This is greenwashing at its finest, and it is a shame that real Wolves have to be involved in this scheme. It is also hypocrisy. She didn't have to use the Wolf known as Maverick in the film. She could have educated the populace about Wolves without having him in the film as an evil monster. Wolves falsely portrayed in film version of Chronicles of Narnia Film! As you readers are most likely aware of, the film Chronicles of Narnia, made by Disney, will be out in theaters on Christmas Day. I am sure due to the current population of the U.S., many drones will see it and it will make millions of dollars. However, I for one will be one of those who will not be seeing the film. Why you ask? Check this out. In the film, there is a scene that is not in the books that will be defacing the Wolves. It is a scene where Wolves are chasing the main protagonists to a chunk of ice where they are trapped. Because of this fear of Wolves, they have issued an order to destroy any Wolves that, 'attack' a human. Thus as fear leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. MEDIA RELEASE 26th July 2005 CAMPAIGN GROWS AS CARING PEOPLE AIM TO FREE WOLF The campaign to free a zoo wolf at the Okinawa Children's Zoo in Japan, was started by Greg Leisure and began on November 12th, 2004. Since then, the campaign had grown from 10 supporters to a worldwide network of over 800 caring individuals, all of whom are helping to free Kei through emails, letters and phone calls to the zoo and other 'targets' in the prefecture of Okinawa. The petition site now nears 12,000 signatures as it keeps growing. The aim of the campaign is to obtain the zoo's and city's agreement to release Kei so that she may be retired to a sanctuary in the U.S. or Canada that has agreed to accept her. Greg Leisure, the campaign's organizer explains that the zoo's conditions haven't improved in ten years. "When I first visited in the harsh summer heat of 1995, I remember seeing all the animals in small barren enclosures pacing on concrete. Greg says “It was a visit that left me saddened and angered over the treatment of animals that I saw were having food thrown at them and being mocked by barks, howls, and cat calls. A total disrespect for the animals' needs permeated the entire atmosphere". Kei is an urgent case because of her growing age. At 13 years old, Kei, a female North American Eastern Timber Wolf has lived virtually her entire life on a 7 x 4 meter concrete slab in almost total isolation from others of her species at the Okinawa City Kodomo no Kuni Zoo in Okinawa, Japan. Visitors to the zoo have reported that she spends most of her time pacing around her enclosure in boredom and due to stress of living in such a small space, in the hot sub-tropical climate of Okinawa. The Campaign have been trying to persuade the zoo to place an air-conditioner or mister placed in it so that she can have cool air blown on her, but so far the zoo have ignored and declined their requests. Wolves in Croatian zoo may die Tuesday, 3:41 AM Croatia: Wolves face death:not enough room and food for the animals There is a huge problem for 5 wolves living in very inadequate space in a so-called zoo near Rijeka (town in Croatia). The animals living there are suffering and they do not even have enough food. Presently the owner has -syrian bears (male and female) 6 years old, -3 domestic bears (1 m 6 years old, 2 females - 1= 9, 1= 8 years), -2 bengal tigers (1 female 2 years and 1male 3 years old) and -5 Euroepan wolves (4 males 5 - 6 years and female 2 years and half). The Ministry of culture in charge of protected species declared the intention to confiscate the wolves. Our organisation succeded in saving 8 wolves si far (4 in a state shelter for confiscated wild animals and 4 in Osijek zoo), but there is no place for the other animals. However, we were able to provide 12 t meat food for those in Rijeka. The Ministry decided to euthanize the wolves and the date is very close. The owner is willing to give the animals free to a better home. Please, please help these animals. You may contact our organisation for further details.
