Water bottle that won't leach toxins into your rat's water December 12, 2006 4:57 PM
I'm excited about this so I'm crossposting (yeah, I'm easily excited )
I've been reading about how it's bad to use recycled plastic for water bottles (for people) because the plastic actually leaches into your water - you're drinking plastic! And then I thought, well heck, the only water bottles you can get for your rodents are those recycled plastic ones or tiny glass ones that are too hard for critters to effectively drink from (or they just leak all over).
So I began my search for a decent glass water bottle. And no one makes them.
But now, I've found a great work-around. If you live near a Container Store or if you can order online, they have a screw-top glass bottle that just fits into the threads of those screw-on spouts that come on the plastic bottles. You get the best of both worlds - the good spout that are easy for your pet to drink from and no leaching of carcinogenic chemicals into their water. And because it's glass it's dishwasher safe.
Thats a great idea! I never knew that! And when you say cheap you really meant it! While I'd hate to charge just 2 bucks to my credit card..it sounds to good to pass up. Now that you mention it I have never seen a glass waterbottle either other than those tiny like test tube looking ones which wouldn't quench an ant's thirst. I fill my pets bottles with spring water anyway so they don't get all that chlorine thats in my tap water! If its not good enough for me; its not good enough for them. Do you know if the water bottle spouts screw on nicely or does that pose any little issues? I could always bring the glass bottle to the store and play around. hehe.... But good research! Your always coming up with great tidbits of info!
I never used the pineapple picture cuz I can never find a reason. I still haven't found one, but couldn't resist. hehe
