When Katrina was about to make landfall, for some reason I felt
compelled to watch one of the all news stations. Here in Canada, I
watch the CTV one and flip to CNN for the American updates. I have no
family nor friends in the areas that were hit, so I really can't
explain just why Katrina should hold my interest from BEFORE it made
landfall...I don't recall ever watching this intensly with any other
hurricane! I'm one who believes in things happen for a reason, so I
figure I'm not meant to question the whys of my interest, but to follow
where it takes me.
As a genealogist, I've
been trying to find information about what's become of the cemeteries
in these regions, so far with no luck. As I go about my search, I come
across other links that many of you may want to bookmark.
This
is the Safe List - a list of KNOWN survivors, their names, where they
are from and where they are right now. It's updated regularly.
This
is for the CNN Help Centre in general with many links to other related
items. There is also information on how you can add your name to the
Safe List if any of you are from the region affected. Again, it's
updated regularly.
