What aspect of anime do you like most? September 28, 2004 10:39 AM

Why do you watch anime? the story/plot/theme? the illustration? the weird fantastic concepts/designs? characters? the mecha, the kawaii or something else?  [ send green star]

I'd say concepts.... September 28, 2004 10:48 AM

Not every anime is nicely animated...

But I love the concept of letting animation deal with real adult issues.   As compared to american animation that focuses mainly on whatever appeals to kids.

Soap Operas in the form of animation...

  Gotta love it!

Since I don't watch the Soaps (at work when they're on), Anime is my Soaps.

Sci Fi/Fantasy themes January 01, 2005 2:16 PM

These themes usually translate horribley to other video outlets (movies, tv), and in anime they can be well done without looking extremely cheesey (Earthsea, anyone?).

I also like serial animes.

MUSIC!!! February 01, 2005 1:17 PM

The music is awesome!

Live action stuff has so far inferior music that it is pathetic!

(by the way the music got me into anime in the first place, Escaflowne)

The Story February 01, 2005 1:48 PM

I like the attention to the story in anime. Many north amarican shows seem to concentreate on action instead of the story. In anime, the show always has an ongoing story, and most use some amount of cause-and-effect in their plotlines.

Yeah February 03, 2005 5:56 AM

Although the music is my fav. part of most anime even in the US stuff the plots of most are continuous and skillfully done.  It would be logical for the anime from Japan to be taken more seriously than here in the US simply because that is its "homeland".

I have found only a rare few anime that seemed to have disjointed plots or no coherant plot worth mentioning and since I try to forget such terrible experiences I cannot bring them to mind. *shudder*

what i like February 05, 2005 1:23 AM

what i like is the music especially the bgm.  I also like the plot of the story.  It's like watching drama series for me. and lastly, the magical creatures like kerochan of cardcaptor sakura, poipoi of ragnarok.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

The storylines, the art, the music, the costumes, the characters... all of it's awesome...    but my most favorite is the storylines!  They're actaully stories!  Unlike most american animation.   And a little violence in the show's sometimes help me wear off my own anger...   hehe... the hot guys are just a plus side -^^-  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I can't pick just one thing about anime. I love the art, the creativity, the fantasy...everything. The music is usually pretty cool too. My favorite has been Fushigi Yuugi so I'm into the 'meant to be love stories'. I love to believe in real love that never dies and then they added a lot of mythology to the story, it was fantastic.

the art (sometimes), the plot (almost always), the instances (pretty much always), the depth (that's a given), the fantasy...the way even realistic animes are fantastic...the character development...Well, pretty much everything that a western cartoon does not have.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

The graphics mostly,....Depending on the anime. The story line otherwise,....especially love the Sci-Fi types.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Generally I find that anime is brighter, more colourful and fun to watch.

I like the story lines, and ideas - there are some genres that appeal to me for their silly humour, that just doesn't seem to have a western equivilant readily available.

And there are a lot of characters that I grow to love from various series.

I like the flexibility they have.  They can cover a huge range of genres, from romance to horror, and there are so many different styles it can take on.

I also like the facial expressions commonly used, they're quite an interesting interpretation of real expressions.
