Rita's Quarry Rat is doing OK..Please offer some advise April 16, 2006 5:10 PM

I could still use some advise. It has been four days since I got him out of the garbage. Today Silky opened his eyes. I mixed up some baby rice cereal with soy milk and he went nuts over it. He is so skinny so maybe this wil help. Every time I feed him I fear I am doing something wrong..No one answered this mesage and I sure could use some help. ie Is rice cereal the thing to use. Should I lower the 95* temp? I haven't a clue. I have never had a baby rat before...The Rat Lady said not to feed him too often,(in her news letter) I am not sure just what that means. How much do I feed him after he has hair and his eyes are open. Help Help Please..I can't believe that I am growing so fond of him. Rat lady said that I should release him at 6 Weeks..Any advise, Ideas?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

What is Rat Lady's reasoning for release? After all your hard work you send him out to glue traps and cats.????????????????????????????? I guess it is like any other wild animal but I don't know that I would release him.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
Release My Baby Garbage Rat, per Rat Lady.. No Way May 06, 2006 5:49 PM

After bonding with Silky, there is no way I will ever release him He is the love of our life. He is not fearful and loves us all He sits in his cage on our coffey table and is happy when we offer him an out. He is cuddly and loves to ride in our hands. Maybe I should tell Rat Lady how not to release a baby. Thank you for the input. Rita  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
