When I first started promoting this group someone sent me a message about bloomingdales (because of animal abuse for fur) but they don't seem to want to post it here so I will for them. Does anyone else boycott bloomingdales?
Blooming Yes! 2 boycott 'em April 13, 2005 4:13 AM
I'm boycotting Bloomingdales. Nice to know my lack of interest in haight couture will accomplish some good in the world! What have they done to deserve this boycott? Other than:
- insulting women with ridiculously impractical and ugly fashions which are unwearable in public.
- Selling clothes which are horribly overpriced.
- Promoting the notion that how much you spend on yourself and your looks is in any way related to your value as a person or to society.
(I should stop hyperventallating, but this is fun!)
I've been boycotting Bloomingdales for years because I can't afford their stupid stuff anyway--this will just make it all the more meaningful!!!

BLOOMINGDALES!!! is not just Bloomies April 13, 2005 11:18 AM
If your really gonna do this. Here are a few facts.
Bloomingdales is part of Federated Department Stores (the largest in the country) All the stores will soon become Macys Stores if they have not already.
Burdines has already been swallowed up by Macys!!! I just happened to be in Florida the day all the Burdines stores officially became Macys. (wonder how long it will take before the prices are raised???)
I wonder when it will end?? When Federated owns everything??? Why can't these companies ever be satisfied with what they've got?? Grrrrrrrr
Ross stores buys all (first quality) return product that Federated department stores (and many others) return to their manufacturers.
So if you shop often, you will find the same stuff at Ross only almost 80% cost.
Burdines has been part of Federated for over 10 years, but they had not decided to change the names of the stores until the buy up was well on it way and the public was numb to the take overs....
Federated actually is a much better run business than May Co Stores. So your prices should be go up.
Oh I love boycotting, the power of the money is power in this day and age, trouble people don't seem to realise it. I tend to shop in "charity shops" if I can. Back in Scotland I stopped going to Asda due to it's affiliation to Wallmart. I will not intentionally buy Nestle - ooooo very bad, now living in Spain, I find they have a stranglehold on most confectionary" ah well no big deal, go without if there is no choice - now there's an abnormal thought for modern western humankind. Kraft is another I try and avoid and is anyone avoiding microwave ovens of any make mmmmm - Fiat and their land mines, trouble is you can become strangled in the places and companies to avoid, all w can do is our best and weigh up the neccessity and the choices available. I have friends that won't go shopping with me due to my "principles" Hugs to all Harlee
I bet it isn't your principles but April 14, 2005 7:14 AM
I bet it isn't your principles but her guilt. People don't like to hear the truth. They want to live in Oblivia because they think what flavor beer to have in the morning (and the job & family and the other man/woman) is already overload.LOL
