Thanks for the info! November 08, 2005 10:12 AM

Think I'll check them out right now, as a matter of fact!  I'm a coffee junkie!  www.groundsforchange.com is a local(for me, anyway) free trade coffee place, too!  www.veganessentials.com doesn't have any products who hurt or murder animals.  I have shopped both and like what I receive, too.  Blessings--Karen  Yikes!  These should not be under BOYCOTTS, should they?????  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Sorry if this is off topic...

This year I did all my shopping via nature and locally. I went and bought living plants, I went to the local rock hound club and bought stunning rocks/minerals/deposits, etc. Everyone on my list this year got something local and natural.

Now I can only hope they appreciate the spirit of the gifts.

Your sites are another awesome idea. There are so many ways to buy things that add spirit to the purchase.

Another favorite of mine is heifer.org. You "buy" a farm animal (you can do it in your friend/family members name) for a villager who breeds it and passes the offspring on to other villagers. It "teaches them to fish" instead of just giving them one meal it teaches them how to feed themselves permanently.

I only make my gifts for people. I have this attitude that Christmas is purely to much of a getting and buying season. For me, I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade or offend, but, because I have a talent, to some extent, why buy when I can make it.  I feel it means more.  Christmas to me is my attitude, the love of family and friends and doing unique things to convey it does not have to put big bucks into some big business weinie's pockets.

You are right to buy with conscience, I commend that, green and local purchases are the best choices. But if you have any talent, please consider that to be a gift that you can give.

It is a land of free choice, I do not say these things to incite, just to inspire!
