When I was pregnant we went out and picked a darling crib out and my mother made the bumper pads and everything. Did we use it? No!!!! I felt bad, all that time my mother spent sewing the darling stuff and our son really never used the crib.
Now that he is sooooo big, really for a 4 year old he looks almost 6!, he uses the crib. We raised it, took a side off and stuck it in the corner so we could push our bed up to it. It's great!!! Our room is literally one giant bed and a sea of dressers.
My question is, how many of you are just like me?, never using the crib when they were a baby
our oldest two girls slept with us for the first couple of years of their lives and our almost 9 mos old daughter is sleeping with us now. I'm glad I just got a used crib. It would have been such a waste because that crib was gone a long time ago. People always see it missing and ask where the baby sleeps- with her mama!

My daughter also slept with me pretty much from day one, well, she snuggled up to me to nurse, but liked to sleep on her daddy's tummy until she was about 5 months old
We had crib which we used when my daughter was really little and we needed somewhere safe to put her down for a few minutes while we did something else like cooking on the stove or another activity for which using the sling or carrying her was not safe or practical.
She slept with me or my husband the whole time, until at around age 1 she decided that she wanted to use the spare mattress on the floor (we put it there because as she got bigger she used to sometimes push me out of bed at night...). She decided that the mattress was "her" bed and she often went to sleep on it, but would come back into the family bed to nurse and spend around half the night there. She finally decided that she wanted her own "big bed" at around 18 months, and she came with us and chose one herself.
