President Obama has promised to end this occupation
The Obama plan has two guiding timelines: Obamas own plan to remove all combat forces between April and the end of August of this year to bring the total number of U.S. troops to less than 50,000 and U.S. contractors to less than 75,000, then the bi-lateral agreement with Iraq requiring all troops and contractors to be out by the end of 2011, and all U.S. bases to be shut down.
There seems to be some pressure from the U.S. war machine to postpone or cancel the withdrawal from Iraq, or to link the withdrawal to political and security conditions on the ground. If the Obama administration falls into the slippery slope of going back to a conditions-based withdrawal, that will take us back to square one.
The U.S. occupation has never been a part of the solution in Iraq, and it will never be. Prolonging the occupation will not solve what the occupation has damaged, and will lead to more death and destruction.

I'll never forget the look in my patients eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies.
So there I sat with my patient giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank you' they muttered.
A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterward. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.
This Mastectomy Bill is in Congress now. It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it really quick! The Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill is important legislation for all women.

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through mastectomy' where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Nationwide, there are State run agencies who are supposed to be protecting abused children in dangerous situations. Each State has many different titles for them. All of them are main stapled as CPS (Child Protective Services). For example, in Texas they're known as DFPS. (Department of Family and Protective Services)
While there is an important need to find abused children and to protect them, the current system is only finding a small percentage of those truly abused children. The rest of their statistics that guarantee a high departmental income are from families who never abused their children. Where they get this income and the sources of information will be posted after the next paragraph.
I am not calling for an abolishment of CPS. What I am petitioning for is an overhaul and restructure to bring them in line with lawful investigation practices, to maintain Constitutional Rights and proper training for Agents who never had children, and psychological evaluations to find and replace the Agents who were themselves abused as Children and see abuse in every home regardless of the situation. This is not, I repeat, not a rare occurrence. I will supply statistics to support this and how this has escalated. I will also supply the sources.
Departmental income has become more important to CPS and their offices than actually finding abused children and protecting them. Each and every time they remove a child from the home, they get paid from the Federal Government. Here they are:
1. Public Law 93-247 known as the Mondale Act of 1974.
2. Public Law 96-272 known as the Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act of 1980
3. Social Security Title IV-E funds.
The ASFA- Public Law 105-89 known as American Safe Families Act of 1997 is one of the most horrific laws on the books today. While it sounds nice in the title, when you get through the legal jargon, what this means is so wrong. If you ever had a child removed from your house by CPS, even UNFOUNDED and you are innocent, they will take that child in minutes after the child is born! Babies are highly adoptable and the Federal Government pays out $6,000 to the CPS office who conducts the legal kidnapping and gets them adopted quickly without regards to the biological Mother and her family. Since she was investigated once, they do this in the "best interests of the child" as she is a "potential" abuser.
The largest targeted type of families are folks with low incomes, children on SSI and are minorities. If you even have one of those three issues, you are a target for CPS to illegally investigate you. While these things are a surefire magnet, they have been known to do illegal investigations against families if they were reported falsely with malicious intent. Example is an ex-wife wants to get even with her ex-husband and his new family, she could report them and put them through Hell.
Why are the reasons CPS Agents actually find so little true abuse?
1. Agents who never had children and don't understand that a few toys in the corner of the room is not a hazardous mess.
2. Agents are not trained in real evidence recognition. In fact, no Agent in CPS has any training in evidence, the Constitution or criminal justice. They are given anywhere from 3 to 6 months of training, being taught that it is ok to break into a Home without probable cause or exigent circumstances.
3. Agents are trained to use subjective speculation and not objective factual reporting.
4. The Agents do not get psychological evaluations. A number of Agents who were abused as a child themselves see abuse in every home they go into, even if it's not there.
5. Most States do not require Agents to have a degree in Social Sciences. Any degree will do, doesn't even have to be related to the field.
6. The Agency has no checks and balances. A field Agent can lie to a judge or police officer with absolutely no proof and have it entered as factual evidence in a court of law!
7. Agents are trained to believe they are immune from the authority of the First Amendment, Fourth Amendment, Fifth Amendment, Sixth Amendment and Fourteenth Amendment. They violate this in every investigation done nationwide.
Here are the statistics and sources to support these facts
Two days ago, Sarah Deer, lawyer and Native woman activist, delivered powerful testimony before Congress exposing serious gaps in law enforcement and health care for Native women. Native American and Alaska Native victims of sexual assault and rape have to navigate a complex maze of federal, state, tribal and local law and frequently perpetrators are not brought to justice.
The Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior is drafting legislation right now that will determine the level of federal funding for law enforcement and health care in Native American and Alaska Native communities. If the committee fails to include additional funds in this bill for protecting Native women against sexual assault, yet another year will pass where survivors of rape are unable to receive proper medical attention, such as obtaining sexual assault forensic examinations.
Sarah Deer's testimony before the committee was a truly historic moment in this long battle for the rights of Native American and Alaska Native women. We are asking the Subcommittee to increase federal funding for programs to help combat sexual violence against Native American and Alaska Native women as well as to include specific language directing health care providers and law enforcement officials to document the number of sexual assault cases that occur, who the perpetrators are, and where the assaults take place. If we can convince them to include this important language now, there is a good chance it will become a part of the final bill.
In our report, Maze of Injustice, we uncovered that Native American and Alaska Native women are more than 2.5 times more likely to be sexually assaulted or raped than women in general in the US and that one in three will be raped in their lifetime. Astonishingly enough, experts believe these numbers to be an underestimate because sexual violence against Native women frequently goes undocumented.

Just as the volume of calls for investigations into the U.S. torture program reached deafening levels this week, another classified report came out Tuesday that revealed new details about the military's role in torturing detainees.
This latest report by the Senate Armed Services Committee exposes the "few bad apples" argument as a complete farce.1 While the Bush Administration was publically saying the horrors of Abu Ghraib were just aberrations, this report clearly shows that in fact, torture was sanctioned and even encouraged in military detention centers.
Thanks to your countless actions over the past few weeks, the momentum for investigations is snowballing. Last Friday President Obama said this was a time for "reflection, not retribution"; less than a week later, national newspapers are reporting the President is now open to an investigation.2
But what kind of investigation? There's a growing risk that we may get an investigation that lacks independence, legal authority, and the adequate funding necessary to tell the full truth about the illegal, U.S. torture program.
What we need is a non-partisan independent commission, free from political influences, that has subpoena power and enough money to track down every lead.3
Even with the release of this classified report, we still only know a portion of the truth. And it's only by exposing the full truth of what was done in our names, that we can once and for all move forward and restore our nation's credibility.
Let's make sure whatever investigation moves forward, it's backed by the authority and support it needs to be effective.

Corrections Corporation of America (NYSE: CXW) (CCA) is a company that manages public prisons and other facilities, and has concessions for many others. The company is the fifth largest prison (corrections) system in the United States, behind only 3 states and the federal government. As such, CCA manages 69,000 beds in 64 facilities, of which it owns 40 facilities, in 19 states and Washington, DC This corporation not only imprisons people, they also manufacture license plates, small table kits (such as those sold through Wal-Mart) and other items. The worst part is that they actually sell stock for this company on Wall Street and anyone can buy it. So basically for the right price our country imprisons people, works them as slaves while they earn pennies an hour and them sell the items to unsuspecting consumers and on top of that sells them as stock...does this system sound familiar to anyone? It rings as loud as slavery in my ears!

The FDA is currently debating whether to require a toll-free number and web address on all TV drug ads so we can easily report serious side effects to the agency.
But the FDA commissioner wants to study the idea for two more years. Thats too long! Prescription drug ads in magazines and newspapers already have this reporting information. Why not TV?
The benefits of making it easy to report serious drug side effects are clear:
Better reporting of side effects will help the FDA do a better job of detecting dangerous drugs on the market sooner. Dangers often emerge only after millions of people start taking a drug.
A recent poll found that only 7 percent knew how to report serious side effects to the FDA.
The toll-free number and web address is already required in print drug ads; this would only put it on TV ads, so more consumers would see it.

I bought a vacation package online through www. bahamas.com, it is run by the Bahamian Ministry of Tourism and also their govt. They sold me this knowing that thousands and thousands of foreign workers were brought in without having immigration procedures checked out on them and without issueing them work permits. The hotel then never registered them then let them live there for years amongst the tourists. People had been hurt prior and yet they sold us this package, knowing that they have hidden clauses on their online contract and so do all of these hotels- stating if you get hurt then you are responsible for all of it. The construction company hires ex convicts also and no-one checked these men. This is going on for the next ten years in the Bahamas, thousands and thousands of workers being brought in and placed with the tourists. Last week we emailed you about pledges made by American Crystal Sugar, Hershey's, and M&M/Mars in 2001 not to use sugar from genetically engineered sugar beets in their products. We asked you to contact these companies to urge them to follow through on those pledges now that Monsanto's Roundup Ready® sugar beet is ready for planting and the pledges have yet to be renewed. As you know, if you've already made your voice heard, many companies - these included - have made it more difficult for consumers to submit comments via the internet. They are employing what are called "webforms" in lieu of email addresses since the latter can be targeted by email campaigns like the ones you traditionally see from us. Of course, this won't stop the concerned citizens that make up the Citizens for Health membership.
Well, American Crystal Sugar has gone one step further
. When we first sent the alert last week, they had a "comments" page for consumers to be heard, just like Hershey's and M&M/Mars. Imagine our surprise today to see that they did away with that page and now just display a phone number for consumer comments!
Of course, given the hundreds of comments we're sure they received over the last few days, it shouldn't be too surprising. It makes even more sense when one peruses their website further and looks at the section, under "Sugar beet Agronomy", entitled "Agnotes" (click here to visit the page). In Issue #505 of Agnotes, published just a couple of months ago, American Crystal Sugar announces the following (we've emboldened some text for emphasis):
"The 2006 and 2007 crops were the best two in American Crystal's history. It will certainly be a challenge, but reaching similar yield levels is definitely possible with average or better weather in 2008. Several factors like Roundup Ready®, XBeet, new fungicides and others will make significant contributions to this possibility for 2008. Every grower needs to take advantage of the many learning opportunities available to them this winter to make the most of new practices and technology."
Clearly, it appears that American Crystal Sugar intends to go ahead and use genetically engineered sugar beets this year, in direct contrast to the pledge they made in 2001, and they must think that consumers are so busy or lazy that they won't take the time to make a phone call to be heard on the subject. Their phone number isn't even toll-free - maybe they think the cost of a long-distance call will prevent some consumers from bothering?
Prove them wrong! Call American Crystal Sugar now - 220.127.116.1100 - and tell the operator you want to leave a consumer comment (if you get voicemail, leave comments in their general mailbox). Then tell their public relations person that you want them to honor the pledge they made to avoid genetically engineered sugar beets and that you will boycott any products that use sugar from those sugar beets. Breastfeeding isn't a crime April 10, 2008 1:44 PM

Just a couple of months ago, a mother was kicked out of a museum in New York for breastfeeding, a perfectly legal act in that state.  Mothers continue to suffer discrimination and humiliation for breastfeeding, even though doctors recommend breastfeeding for all infants. Clearly we need Congress to pass the Breastfeeding Promotion Act (H.R. 3799) now--before more mothers are stigmatized and humiliated for breastfeeding.
But this Act is currently stalled in Congress, and isn't going to move forward without increased citizen pressure. You can supply that pressure.
(And forward this email to friends now so they can take action too. All of our voices are needed to get the Breastfeeding Promotion Act moving forward).

I have created my petition entitled, With the stroke of a pen. It is target towards John Conyers, Jr., who is the Chairman of the Committee for the Judiciary.
Currently, I have 86 signatures. My projected goal is 7000. I wish to pick the pace. I thought that it may be best for me to drop in here to gather support for my cause of action.
My belief is that if Congress were to rewrite Amendment XIII to delete the conjunctive phrase, "except as punishment for crime", the latter would diffuse the power of the pen to commit any person back into slavery.
If slavery were to cease and desist from our society, it would embellish a bright new era. The sun light will begin to shine upon America. The people will come to see that it is the charity of giving that distinguishes us above any nation.
Brotherly love is an extremely high calling. Yet, our reward is also higher. The latter pleases God to view us as he may view himself. It is as if a father were to look upon his own son to witness the good fruit of the spirit being nutured.
Government agencies, Social workers, judges they all make decisions on what is in the BEST interest of Children ... decisions which often determine their destiny.

But they come to mind while reading the results of a yearlong investigation into a child-protection bureaucracy that was allowed to go rogue. Social workers gave each other nicknames like "The Queen of Removal" and "Terminator" and laughed as they stripped children from their parents! -
Recently Michael Tarif Warren and his wife Evelyn, who are prominent human rights attorneys, witnessed the police beating of a young African American in NYC. When they asked why the police were beating a man who was handcuffed and unarmed, the police attacked them. Michael was charged with resisting arrest, obstuctive governmental administration and disorderly conduct. Evelyn is also charged with disorderly conduct. In reality, it was the police who were disorderly in their misadministration of justice.
Being adopted was not supposed to be a punishment, but a gift without a doubt. It's better than being thrown in a dumpster or there about. It takes a lot of courage for someone to make this decision about adoption. Adoptees born out-of-wedlock or not, they had no option. Why punish adoptees by not releasing their family history information? They did not get themselves into this kind of situation! Help patch the hole in adoptees lives. Give the adoptees a freedom of speech on their part, and open their adoption files. Adoptees are not criminals so why are files sealed? They should be freely available, not something that gets appealed. Convicts court records are available to everyone because of their rights to know. Adoptee's suffer great emotional and physical pain due to their unknown pasts. Some even die becuase of medical conditions, that could have been treated if medical records were available, or biological family members were able to be found. Yet the government and many agencies fight to to keep our records sealed and information hidden.
We ask that Congress pass a Bill to unseal adoption records for the adoptee's! They must stop treating us like Second Class Citizens!

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men and Women were created equal, that they are naturally endowed with certain unalienable rights, rights which have been deliberately and repeatedly ignored, eroded, even destroyed. To re-secure these rights that our forefathers toiled so hard to create and support, we again state that governments are created for the people and solely by the consent of the people so governed. Whenever, such as now, a form of government has become destructive to these ends, it is OUR RIGHT as citizens, to alter and/or abolish it, and to institute a new government, laying its foundation on the original ideals and ideas from whence this country was first imagined, then created through sweat, education, imagination, experience, tears, and toil. Likewise, it becomes our duty as citizens to strive to improve upon that foundation, eradicating the biases based on differences of sex, culture, religion, skin color, nationality, and other individual and groups traits that make individuals who and what they are.
As our forefathers warned 231 years ago, Prudence continues to dictate that a government long established should not be changed for light or transient reasons. However, the transgressions of the current administration against his own people and that against people of other countries are so serious and numerous in nature, that it becomes imprudent not to act immediately. We approach a form of absolute despotism of the kind suffered by our forefathers when they began their own revolution for reasons not dissimilar to ours.
To prove our case, the facts below are without question:

* HE has refused his assent to law, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
* HE has obstructed the administration of justice, by politicizing the method and manner in which justice is sought across the states and in the federal courts.
* HE has made US Attorneys dependent on his will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries. * HE has spied on citizens domestically and abroad without warrants or justification.
* HE has repeatedly lied and misled his people into unnecessary, unjustified, and deadly wars, invasions and eventual occupations, causing untold death and destruction for all concerned.
* HE has attacked the very protections of the Constitution, the one document that he took an oath to uphold; and by passage of his Patriot Act, and his countless signing statements, he has destroyed the very protections to which each of us were and are entitled.
* HE has erected a new office, misnamed the Department of Homeland Security, which does nothing to increase security, but instead impedes commerce, trade, communication, travel, and privacy to a degree never imagined by our forefathers.
* HE has deprived us the benefits of a trial by jury.
* HE has held, without charges, many individuals who have no benefit of counsel, courts, or juries.
* HE has cut off communication and trade with countries who have offered to aid us in a time of need, after the attacks of September 11, 2001.
* HE has arrested, harassed and threatened groups of civilians who gather to protest the excesses of government.
* HE has precluded and interfered with free speech of individuals and their right to meet safely.
* HE has created a mercenary army, uncontrolled by the democratic process, to fight in actions both domestic and foreign.
* HE has ignored long-standing treaties and pacts among other nations, particularly with respect to torture and basic human rights.
* HE has ignored the wisdom, experience and knowledge of scientists, replacing them with self-serving political and religious persons, intent on destroying the very knowledge base that serves mankind.
* HE has caused the kidnapping and extra-ordinary rendition, followed by their transportation of individuals beyond seas to be held without counsel, trial or juries.
* HE has permitted the plundering of our cities, the ravaging of our coasts, and the damage of homes and businesses without properly addressing the damage to individual lives, dignity and health.
* HE has imposed secrecy on most actions of goverment, in the name of national security, while precluding citizens from learning of repeated acts of wrongdoing, fraud, and crime.
* HE has permitted political donors and supporters to make vast sums of profit from government funds, without requiring accountability, performance or successful endeavors in return.
* HE has used religion and faith based initiatives as an attack on the very structure of government, rewarding only certain beliefs, and punishing all others.
* HE has destroyed foreign ties with allies and friends, creating distrust and fear, instead of cooperation and friendship.
* HE has permitted the destruction of our ecology, causing suffering and worse among us and guaranteeing that our children and our children's children will be forced to pay a dear price.
Our pleas and requests are ignored, our attempts to gain redress are attacked as unpatriotic, our cries are treated as an act of support of terror. A president whose character is marked by these and many other acts which define a tyrant, is unfit to be a ruler of a free people.
WE, therefore, citizens of these United States, and citizens of the world, finding our appeals to our elected representatives to be ignored, do in our name, and in the name of all other true patriots and citizens of this country, solemnly declare that George Walker Bush is unfit to be president; that his vice president is likewise unfit for office, and that both of them are most likely guilty of a multitude of war crimes, crimes against the Constitution, and crimes against humanity. We hereby declare that their offices are now declared vacant and that they shall be delivered to the proper international court for imprisonment while the full nature and extent of their crimes are investigated and determined, thereafter which they will be tried for said crimes. We hereby commit to one another our best efforts to fulfill our forefathers' original intent, while removing the horrors of slavery, sex, race, religious and other forms of discrimination while we work together to repair the horrendous damage inflicted on our Country, its People and its Constitution.
Congress has the power to stand up to Bush and stop the war with a decision that cannot be vetoed – and bring our troops home once and for all. Congress authorized the War Powers Act, which allowed the invasion of Iraq. Now they can end the war by de-authorizing the Act.
This powerful, yet little-known congressional tool is a way for our leaders - and the American people - to stand up against a president who has turned stubbornness into foreign policy.
The de-authorization of the war was just introduced on the Senate floor. Governor Bill Richardson believes this is the best approach to ending the violence, and wants to take it one step further with a swift withdrawal timeline to get troops out of Iraq by the end of the year.
“I know this region well and understand how people there see the world,” Richardson said. “I even met with Saddam Hussein and secured the release of hostages. Diplomacy can work in this region – I’ve done it before – there is no military solution in Iraq.”

There is a campaign to end such atrocities going on right now. The campaign put forth a petition that will be submitted to the UN as well as the US and UK governments to force them to address such issues. I got in touch with the campaign (Amazing Change) and asked them how I could help. On May 10th the executives at Dow Chemical Company will gather their most influential investors in Midland, MI to celebrate their profits and pat themselves on the back for another year of avoiding responsibility for the contamination in Bhopal, India. But we won't let them off the hook - Amnesty International will be there to set the record straight and call attention to the company's outstanding liabilities, by tabling a shareholder resolution about the Bhopal disaster that will be voted on by all of the company's stockholders.
Here's the catch: we must garner at least a 10% vote (extremely high and very hard to hit) in order to ensure the company cannot ignore the resolution. If we miss our mark, we can't raise the issue again in a resolution until 2012.
You can help us meet the 10% target by sending letters of support to some of Dow Chemical's top shareholders. Many of the largest financial services companies in the country are invested in Dow in their mutual funds, annuity and insurance products, including: Barclays Global Investors, State Street Global Advisors, Vanguard Group, JP Morgan Asset Management, and State Farm Insurance Company. To free cannabis from prohibition thus enabling its full utilisation for all beneficial uses and research - for medicine, relaxant, fuel, fibre and food. This would lead to the solution of many of the major serious problems facing the world today - drug addiction, expensive medication, hunger, pollution and poverty. It would put the control of essential resources into the hands of local communities rather than multinational industrial corporations. Also by legalizing cannibis, and releasing all non-violent marijuana offenders from prison, would Cut out the huge ammount of prison overpopulation, and bring many innocent families back together.
George Bush plans to announce his intention to escalate the war in Iraq by sending tens of thousands of more troops to pursue his flawed strategy. But if he wants to ignore the advice of the military and the findings of the Iraq Study Group, he's going to have to make his case and get the consent of the people through their elected representatives.
Thankfully, escalation is not President Bush's decision to make. He must have the people's consent.
Senator Kennedy has introduced legislation that makes the issue plain. It states that any substantial new commitment in Iraq requires a plan from the administration and explicit authorization from Congress.
Iraq has become George Bush's Vietnam, and it's every American to ensure that history doesn't repeat itself any longer. The Iraqi people need to take responsibility for their own future. But our only hope for change over there is if we, the American people, take control of our own destiny here at home.
